2 Samuel 10
1 And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.
૧ત્યાર પછી એમ થયું કે, આમ્મોનીઓનો રાજા નાહાશ મરણ પામ્યો અને તેના સ્થાને તેનો દીકરો હાનૂન રાજા થયો.
2 Then said David, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
૨દાઉદે કહ્યું, “જેમ તેના પિતાએ મારા પર દયા રાખી હતી તેમ હું નાહાશના દીકરા હાનૂન ઉપર દયા રાખીશ.” દાઉદે તેના પિતાના મૃત્યુ નિમિત્તે તેને દિલાસો આપવા માટે પોતાના દાસોને મોકલ્યા, તેઓ ચાકરોએ આમ્મોનીઓના દેશમાં આવ્યા.
3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honor thy father, that he hath sent comforters to thee? hath not David [rather] sent his servants to thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
૩પણ આમ્મોનીઓના આગેવાનોએ પોતાના રાજા હાનૂનને કહ્યું કે, “દાઉદે તારી પાસે તને દિલાસો આપવાને માણસો મોકલ્યા છે તેથી તું એવું માને છે કે દાઉદ તારા પિતાનો આદર કરે છે? શું દાઉદે પોતાના દાસોને નગર જોવાને તથા તેની જાસૂસી કરવાને તથા તેનો વિનાશ કરવાને માટે તારી પાસે મોકલ્યા નહિ હોય?”
4 Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, [even] to their buttocks, and sent them away.
૪તેથી હાનૂને દાઉદના દાસોની અડધી દાઢીઓ મૂંડાવી નાખી. તેઓનાં કમર નીચે સુધીના વસ્ત્રો કાપી નાખીને તેઓને દૂર મોકલી દીધા.
5 When they told [it] to David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards are grown, and [then] return.
૫આ બાબત તેઓએ દાઉદને જણાવી, ત્યારે તેણે તેઓને મળવા માટે માણસ મોકલ્યા, કેમ કે તે માણસો ઘણાં શરમાતા હતા. એટલે રાજાએ કહ્યું કે, તમારી દાઢી પાછી વધે ત્યાં સુધી તમે યરીખોમાં રહો અને પછીથી પાછા આવજો.
6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ish-tob twelve thousand men.
૬જયારે આમ્મોનીઓએ જોયું કે તેઓ દાઉદની નજરમાં તિરસ્કૃત થયા છે, ત્યારે તેઓએ સંદેશાવાહકો મોકલીને બેથ-રાહોબના તથા સોબાહના અરામીઓમાંથી વીસ હજાર પાયદળ સૈનિકો, હજાર માણસો સહિત માકાના રાજાને, તથા ટોબના બાર હજાર માણસો વેતન આપી સૈન્યમાં દાખલ કર્યા.
7 And when David heard of [it], he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
૭જયારે દાઉદે તે વિષે સાંભળ્યું, ત્યારે તેણે યોઆબ અને સૈન્યના સઘળા સૈનિકોને મોકલ્યા.
8 And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ish-tob, and Maacah, [were] by themselves in the field.
૮આમ્મોનીઓએ બહાર નીકળીને તેમના નગરના દરવાજાના પ્રવેશદ્વાર આગળ વ્યૂહરચના કરી, સોબાહના તથા રહોબના અરામીઓ, ટોબના તથા માકાના માણસો પોતે ખુલ્લાં મેદાનમાં અલગ ઊભા હતા.
9 When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he selected of all the choice [men] of Israel, and put [them] in array against the Syrians:
૯જયારે યોઆબે જોયું કે પોતાની આગળ તથા પાછળ યુદ્ધવ્યૂહ રચાયેલો છે, ત્યારે તેણે ઇઝરાયલના ઉત્તમ લડવૈયાઓમાંથી કેટલાકને પસંદ કર્યા અને તેઓને અરામીઓ સામે ગોઠવ્યા.
10 And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put [them] in array against the children of Ammon.
૧૦બાકીના સૈન્યને તેણે પોતાના ભાઈ અબિશાયના અધિકાર નીચે રાખ્યા, તેણે તેઓને આમ્મોનના સૈન્યની સામે યુદ્ધ માટે ગોઠવ્યા.
11 And he said, If the Syrians shall be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon shall be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee.
૧૧યોઆબે અબિશાયને કહ્યું કે, “જો અરામીઓ અમને ભારે પડે, તો તું મને નિશ્ચે બચાવજે. પણ જો આમ્મોનીઓનું સૈન્ય તને ભારે પડે, તો હું આવીને તને બચાવીશ.
12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.
૧૨બહાદુરી બતાવજો, આપણે આપણા લોકને માટે તથા ઈશ્વરના નગરોને માટે શૂરાતન બતાવીએ, પછી ઈશ્વર પોતાના ઉદ્દેશ માટે તેમને જે યોગ્ય લાગે તે મુજબ કરે.”
13 And Joab and the people that [were] with him drew near to the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.
૧૩યોઆબ અને તેના સૈન્યના સૈનિકો અરામીઓ સામે યુદ્ધ કરવાને આગળ આવ્યા અને તેઓ ઇઝરાયલના સૈન્યની આગળથી નાસી ગયા.
14 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
૧૪જયારે આમ્મોનીઓના સૈન્યએ જોયું કે અરામીઓ નાસી ગયા છે, ત્યારે તેઓ પણ અબિશાયની આગળથી નાસીને નગરમાં જતા રહ્યા. પછી યોઆબ આમ્મોનીઓ પાસેથી પાછો વળીને યરુશાલેમમાં પરત આવ્યો.
15 And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they assembled themselves.
૧૫અને જયારે અરામીઓએ જોયું કે તેઓને ઇઝરાયલે પરાજિત કર્યા છે, ત્યાર પછી તેઓ ફરીથી એકત્ર થયા.
16 And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that [were] beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer [went] before them.
૧૬પછી હદાદેઝેરે માણસ મોકલીને ફ્રાત નદીની પેલી બાજુ રહેનાર અરામીઓના સૈન્યને બોલાવ્યું. તેના સૈનિકો હદાદેઝેરના સૈન્યના સેનાપતિ શોબાખની આગેવાની નીચે હેલામમાં આવ્યા.
17 And when it was told David, he assembled all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.
૧૭જયારે દાઉદને એની બાતમી મળી ત્યારે તેણે સર્વ ઇઝરાયલને એકત્ર કર્યા, તે યર્દન ઓળંગીને હેલામમાં આવ્યો. અરામીઓએ પોતે દાઉદ સામે વ્યૂહરચના કરી અને તેની સાથે લડ્યા.
18 And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew [the men of] seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
૧૮અરામીઓ ઇઝરાયલ સામેથી નાસી ગયા. દાઉદે અરામીઓના સાતસો રથસવારોને તથા ચાળીસ હજાર ઘોડેસવારોને મારી નાખ્યા. તેઓના સૈન્યનો સેનાપતિ શોબાખ ઘવાયો અને ત્યાં જ મરણ પામ્યો.
19 And when all the kings [that were] servants to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
૧૯જયારે સઘળા રાજાઓ જે હદાદેઝેરના તાબેદારો હતા તેઓએ જોયું કે તેઓ ઇઝરાયલ દ્વારા પરાજિત થયા છે, ત્યારે અરામીઓએ ઇઝરાયલ સાથે સંધિ કરીને તેઓના તાબેદારો થયા. તેથી ત્યાર બાદ અરામીઓ આમ્મોન પુત્રોની મદદે આવતાં ગભરાતા હતા.
