2 Corinthians 3
1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some [others], epistles of commendation to you, or [letters] of commendation from you.
Porventura começamos outra vez a louvar-nos a nós mesmos? Ou necessitamos, como alguns, de cartas de recomendação para vós, ou de recomendação de vós
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men:
Vós sois a nossa carta, escrita em nossos corações, conhecida e lida por todos os homens.
3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not on tables of stone, but on fleshly tables of the heart.
Porque já é manifesto, que vós sois a carta de Cristo, ministrada por nós, e escrita, não com tinta, mas com o espírito de Deus vivo, não em tábuas de pedra, mas nas tábuas de carne do coração.
4 And such trust we have through Christ toward God.
E é por Cristo que temos tal confiança em Deus:
5 Not that we are sufficient by ourselves to think any thing as from ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] from God;
Não que sejamos capazes, por nós, de pensar alguma coisa, como de nós mesmos; mas a nossa capacidade vem de Deus:
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
O qual nos fez também capazes de ser ministros do novo testamento, não da letra, mas do espírito; porque a letra mata, e o espírito vivifica.
7 But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which [glory] was to be done away;
E, se o ministério da morte, gravado com letras em pedras, foi para glória, de maneira que os filhos de Israel não podiam fitar os olhos na face de Moisés, por causa da glória do seu rosto, a qual era transitória,
8 How shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious?
Como não será de maior glória o ministério do espírito?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation [was] glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
Porque, se o ministério da condenação foi glorioso, muito mais excederá em glória o ministério da justiça.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
Porque também o que foi glorificado nesta parte não foi glorificado, por causa desta excelente glória.
11 For if that which was done away [was] glorious, much more that which remaineth [is] glorious.
Porque, se o que era transitório foi para glória, muito mais é em glória o que permanece.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
Tendo, pois, tal esperança, usamos de muita ousadia no falar.
13 And not as Moses, [who] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
E não somos como Moisés, que punha um véu sobre a sua face, para que os filhos de Israel não fitassem os olhos no fim do que era transitório.
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day the same vail remaineth untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which [vail] is done away in Christ.
Porém os seus sentidos foram endurecidos: porque até ao dia de hoje o mesmo véu fica por levantar na lição do velho testamento, o qual foi por Cristo abolido:
15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Mas até ao dia de hoje, quando é lido Moisés, o véu está posto sobre o coração deles.
16 Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Porém, quando se converterem ao Senhor, então o véu se tirará.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty.
Ora o Senhor é o espírito; e onde está o espírito do Senhor ai há liberdade.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Mas todos nós, com cara descoberta, refletindo como um espelho, a glória do Senhor, somos transformados de glória em glória na mesma imagem, como pelo espírito do Senhor.
