2 Chronicles 32

1 After [these] things, and their establishment, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.

ഈ കാൎയ്യങ്ങളും ഈ വിശ്വസ്തപ്രവൃത്തിയും കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് വന്നു യെഹൂദയിൽ കടന്നു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നിരോധിച്ചു കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു.

2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

സൻഹേരീബ് വന്നു യെരൂശലേമിനെ ആക്രമിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യെഹിസ്കീയാവു കണ്ടിട്ടു

3 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which [were] without the city: and they helped him.

പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തുള്ള ഉറവുകളിലെ വെള്ളം നിൎത്തിക്കളയേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും വീരന്മാരോടും ആലോചിച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ സഹായിച്ചു.

4 So there were assembled many people, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

അങ്ങനെ വളരെ ജനം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; അശ്ശൂർരാജാക്കന്മാർ വന്നു വളരെ വെള്ളം കാണുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എല്ലാഉറവുകളും ദേശത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽകൂടി ഒഴുകിയ തോടും അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

5 Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised [it] up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo [in] the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.

അവൻ ധൈൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു, ഇടിഞ്ഞുപോയ മതിലൊക്കെയും പണിതു, ഗോപുരങ്ങളും പുറത്തു വേറൊരു മതിലും കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കി. ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിലെ മില്ലോവിന്റെ കേടും പോക്കി, അനവധി കുന്തവും പരിചയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

6 And he set captains of war over the people, and assembled them to him in the street of the gate of the city, and encouraged them, saying,

അവൻ ജനത്തിന്നു പടനായകന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു. അവരെ നഗരവാതില്ക്കലുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരോടു ഹൃദ്യമായി സംസാരിച്ചു:

7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that [is] with him: for [there are] more with us than with him:

ഉറപ്പും ധൈൎയ്യവും ഉള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിൻ; അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിനെയും അവനോടു കൂടെയുള്ള സകലപുരുഷാരത്തെയും ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നിങ്ങൾ ഭ്രമിക്കരുതു; അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ളതിലും വലിയൊരുവൻ നമ്മോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

8 With him [is] an arm of flesh; but with us [is] the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

അവനോടുകൂടെ മാംസഭുജമേയുള്ളു; നമ്മോടുകൂടെയോ നമ്മെ സഹായിപ്പാനും നമ്മുടെ യുദ്ധങ്ങളെ നടത്തുവാനും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ജനം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ വാക്കുകളിൽ ആശ്രയിച്ചു.

9 After this Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (but he [himself laid siege] against Lachish, and all his power with him, ) to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah that [were] at Jerusalem, saying,

അനന്തരം അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് -അവനും അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും ലാഖീശിന്നരികെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു -തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെയും യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലയെഹൂദ്യരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചുപറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

10 Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, On what do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?

അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിരോധം സഹിച്ചു പാൎപ്പാൻ എന്തൊന്നിലാകുന്നു ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നതു?

11 Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മെ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും എന്നു യെഹിസ്കീയാവു പറഞ്ഞു വിശപ്പും ദാഹവുംകൊണ്ടു ചാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വശീകരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

12 Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?

അവന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികളും യാഗപീഠങ്ങളും നീക്കിക്കളകയും യെഹൂദയോടും യെരൂശലേമിനോടും നിങ്ങൾ ഒരേ പീഠത്തിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചു അതിന്മേൽ ധൂപം കാട്ടേണം എന്നു കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തതു ഈ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു തന്നേയല്ലോ.

13 Know ye not what I and my fathers have done to all the people of [other] lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of my hand?

ഞാനും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും അതതു ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലജാതികളോടും എന്തു ചെയ്തുവെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാൎക്കു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞുവോ?

14 Who [was there] among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?

എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നിൎമ്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതിയുടെ സകലദേവന്മാരിലുംവെച്ചു ഒരുവന്നും തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിയുമോ?

15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom hath been able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?

ആകയാൽ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു നിങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കരുതു; ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളെ വശീകരിക്കരുതു; നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അരുതു; യാതൊരു ജാതിയുടെയോ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെയോ ദേവന്നും തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല; പിന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

16 And his servants spoke yet [more] against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ യഹോവയായ ദൈവത്തിന്നും അവന്റെ ദാസനായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നും വിരോധമായി പിന്നെയും അധികം സംസാരിച്ചു.

17 He wrote also letters to rail at the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of [other] lands have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of my hand.

അതതു ദേശങ്ങളിലെ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതിരുന്നതുപോലെ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ ദൈവവും തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കയില്ല എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിന്ദിപ്പാനും അവന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിപ്പാനും എഴുത്തും എഴുതി അയച്ചു.

18 Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech to the people of Jerusalem that [were] on the wall, to affright them, and to fill them with consternation; that they might take the city.

പട്ടണം പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ മതിലിന്മേൽ ഉള്ള ജനത്തെ പേടിപ്പിച്ചു ഭ്രമിപ്പിപ്പാൻ യെഹൂദ്യഭാഷയിൽ അവരോടു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു,

19 And they spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, the work of the hands of man.

മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈപ്പണിയായ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചെന്നപോലെ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചു.

20 And for this [cause] Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

ഇതുനിമിത്തം യെഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവും ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകനും പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചു സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

21 And the LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he had come into the house of his god, they that came forth from his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു; അവൻ അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവിന്റെ പാളയത്തിലെ സകലപരാക്രമശാലികളെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും സേനാപതികളെയും സംഹരിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ലജ്ജാമുഖത്തോടെ സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു; അവൻ തന്റെ ദേവന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചവർ അവനെ അവിടെവെച്ചു വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

22 Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all [others], and guided them on every side.

ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ യെഹിസ്കീയാവെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളെയും അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും മറ്റെല്ലാവരുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു അവൎക്കു ചുറ്റിലും വിശ്രമം നല്കി;

23 And many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that from thenceforth he was magnified in the sight of all nations.

പലരും യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവെക്കു കാഴ്ചകളും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവൻ അന്നുമുതൽ സകലജാതികളുടെയും ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ഉന്നതനായിത്തീൎന്നു.

24 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near to death, and [he] prayed to the LORD: and he spoke to him, and he gave him a sign.

ആ കാലത്തു യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മരണകരമായ ദീനംപിടിച്ചു; അവൻ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചു; അതിന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം അരുളി ഒരു അടയാളവും കൊടുത്തു.

25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit [done] to him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

എന്നാൽ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച ഉപകാരത്തിന്നു അടുത്തവണ്ണം നടക്കാതെ നിഗളിച്ചുപോയി; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെമേലും യെഹൂദയുടെമേലും യെരൂശലേമിന്മേലും കോപം ഉണ്ടായി.

26 Notwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, [both] he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

എങ്കിലും തന്റെ ഗൎവ്വത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു യെഹിസ്കീയാവും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തി; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു അവരുടെമേൽ വന്നില്ല.

27 And Hezekiah had very great riches and honor: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels:

യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു അനവധി ധനവും മാനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു, രത്നം, സുഗന്ധ വൎഗ്ഗം, പരിച സകലവിധമനോഹരവസ്തുക്കൾ എന്നിവെക്കായി ഭണ്ഡാരഗൃഹങ്ങളും

28 Store-houses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.

ധാന്യം, വീഞ്ഞ്, എണ്ണ എന്ന അനുഭവങ്ങൾക്കായി പാണ്ടികശാലകളും സകലവിധ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും പുരകളും ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്കു തൊഴുത്തുകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

29 Moreover, he provided for himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance in great abundance.

ദൈവം അവന്നു അനവധി സമ്പത്തു കൊടുത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും ആടുമാടുകൂട്ടങ്ങളെയും വളരെ സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

30 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

ഈ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു തന്നേ ഗീഹോൻവെള്ളത്തിന്റെ മേലത്തെ ഒഴുക്കു തടുത്തു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ ഭാഗത്തു താഴോട്ടു വരുത്തി. അങ്ങനെ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു തന്റെ സകലപ്രവൎത്തികളിലും കൃതാൎത്ഥനായിരുന്നു.

31 But, in [the business of] the embassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was [done] in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all [that was] in his heart.

എങ്കിലും ദേശത്തിൽ സംഭവിച്ചിരുന്ന അതിശയത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബാബേൽ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരുടെ കാൎയ്യത്തിൽ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അറിവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അവനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.

32 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they [are] written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, [and] in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ സൽപ്രവൃത്തികളും ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ ദൎശനത്തിലും യെഹൂദയിലെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിലും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

33 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chief of the sepulchers of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

യെഹിസ്കീയാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളിലേക്കുള്ള കയറ്റത്തിങ്കൽ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മരണസമയത്തു എല്ലായെഹൂദയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും അവനെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചു. അവന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
