2 Chronicles 26
1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who [was] sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
Tout le peuple de la terre prit alors Ozias, qui avait seize ans, et ils le proclamèrent roi à la place d'Amasias, son père.
2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
Il rebâtit Elath, et la rendit à Juda lorsque le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
3 Sixteen years old [was] Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also [was] Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
Ozias avait seize ans quand il monta sur le trône, et il régna cinquante- deux ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelait Jéchélie de Jérusalem.
4 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
Et il fit ce qui est droit devant le Seigneur, comme avait fait d'abord Amasias, son père.
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and, as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
Il chercha le Seigneur tant que vécut Zacharie, homme sage et craignant Dieu; tant qu'il vécut, Ozias chercha le Seigneur, et le Seigneur le fit prospérer.
6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
Il se mit en campagne, combattit les Philistins, renversa les murs de Geth, les murs de Jabner, les murs d'Azot, et bâtit des villes, près d'Azot, sur la terre des étrangers.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.
Et le Seigneur le fortifia contre les Philistins, contre les Arabes qui habitent au milieu des rochers, et contre les Minéens.
8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad [even] to the entrance of Egypt: for he strengthened [himself] exceedingly.
Alors, les Minéens lui firent des présents, et son nom se répandit jusqu'à l'entrée de l'Égypte; car il se fortifia extrêmement.
9 Moreover, Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning [of the wall], and fortified them.
Ozias bâtit aussi des tours dans Jérusalem: sur la porte de l'Angle, sur la porte de la Vallée, sur les angles, et il les fortifia.
10 Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had many cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen [also], and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
Et il bâtit des tours dans le désert, et il fit, en pierres de taille, une multitude de citernes, parce qu'il possédait de nombreux troupeaux dans les basses terres et dans la plaine, et il employait beaucoup de vignerons sur la montagne et sur le Carmel, car il était cultivateur.
11 Moreover, Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war, by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, [one] of the king's captains.
Son armée était aguerrie; au dehors, elle se rangeait en bataille; à l'intérieur, elle se déployait pour qu'on en fit la revue; ceux qui la dénombraient étaient le scribe Jehiel, le juge Maasias, et Ananias le lieutenant du roi.
12 The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valor [were] two thousand and six hundred.
Le nombre des vaillants, chefs de familles, qui allaient en guerre, s'élevait à deux mille deux cents.
13 And under their hand [was] an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
Et ils commandaient une armée aguerrie de trois cent soixante-dix mille cinq cents hommes, qui marchaient au combat, pleins de force et de vaillance, pour défendre le roi contre ses ennemis.
14 And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings [to cast] stones.
Ozias les avait tous armés de longs boucliers, de javelines, de casques, d'arcs et de frondes.
15 And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was helped in a wonderful manner, till he was strong.
Et il fit exécuter à Jérusalem des machines, œuvres d'un habile calculateur, pour être sur les tours et sur les angles, ou pour lancer des traits ou de grosses pierres; partout, même au loin, on parla beaucoup de ses engins; car il en était merveilleusement secouru, et en tirait une grande force.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to [his] destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
Mais, comme il se fortifiait, son cœur s'enorgueillit pour sa perte; et il pécha contre le Seigneur son Dieu, et il entra dans le temple du Seigneur pour brûler de l'encens sur l'autel des parfums.
17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, [that were] valiant men:
Et Azarias le prêtre y entra sur ses pas, accompagné de quatre-vingts prêtres du Seigneur, hommes intrépides.
18 And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, [It appertaineth] not to thee, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither [will it be] for thy honor from the LORD God.
Et ils s'arrêtèrent devant le roi Ozias, et ils lui dirent: Ce n'est pas à toi, Ozias, d'encenser le Seigneur, mais aux prêtres, fils d'Aaron, qui sont consacrés pour faire les sacrifices. Sors du Saint des saints, car tu t'es séparé du Seigneur, et cela ne tournera pas à ta gloire auprès de Dieu.
19 Then Uzziah was wroth, and [had] a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
Mais Ozias s'irrita; or, il avait à la main l'encensoir pour brûler de l'encens dans le temple, et, pendant qu'il s'irritait contre les prêtres, la lèpre parut sur son front, devant les prêtres dans le temple du Seigneur, au pied de l'autel des parfums.
20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests looked upon him, and behold, he [was] leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
Et le grand prêtre Azarias et les prêtres, en se retournant vers lui, virent la lèpre sur son front; ils eurent hâte de le faire sortir, et lui-même n'était pas moins empressé, car le Seigneur l'avait châtié.
21 And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, [being] a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son [was] over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
Le roi Ozias resta lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort; et lépreux, il demeura dans une maison isolée, parce qu'il avait été retranché du temple du Seigneur. Et Joatham, son fils, fut mis à la tête du royaume, jugeant le peuple de la terre.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, were written by Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos.
Le reste des actes d'Ozias, les premiers et les derniers, ont été écrits par le prophète Jessé (Isaïe).
23 So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which [belonged] to the kings; for they said, He [is] a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
Et Ozias s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'ensevelit auprès d'eux, dans le champ où est le sépulcre des rois, parce que, dirent-ils, il était lépreux. Et Joatham, son fils, régna à sa place.
