2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah [was] twenty and five years old [when] he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
Amasías tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Joadán, de Jerusalén.
2 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
Hizo lo que era justo a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no con un corazón perfecto.
3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
Cuando se le estableció el reino, mató a sus siervos que habían matado a su padre el rey.
4 But he slew not their children, but [did] as [it is] written in the law of the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
Pero no dio muerte a sus hijos, sino que hizo lo que está escrito en la ley en el libro de Moisés, como lo ordenó Yahvé, diciendo: “Los padres no morirán por los hijos, ni los hijos morirán por los padres, sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.”
5 Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of [their] fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice [men], [able] to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
Además, Amasías reunió a Judá y los ordenó según las casas de sus padres, bajo capitanes de millares y de centenas, todo Judá y Benjamín. Los contó de veinte años en adelante, y encontró que había trescientos mil hombres escogidos, capaces de salir a la guerra, que podían manejar la lanza y el escudo.
6 He hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
También contrató a cien mil hombres valientes de Israel por cien talentos de plata.
7 But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD [is] not with Israel, [to wit], [with] all the children of Ephraim.
Un hombre de Dios se acercó a él y le dijo: “Oh rey, no dejes que el ejército de Israel vaya contigo, porque Yahvé no está con Israel, con todos los hijos de Efraín.
8 But if thou wilt go, do [it], be strong for the battle: God will make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
Pero si vas a ir, ponte en acción y sé fuerte para la batalla. Dios te derribará ante el enemigo; porque Dios tiene poder para ayudar y para derribar.”
9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
Amasías dijo al hombre de Dios: “¿Pero qué haremos con los cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel?” El hombre de Dios respondió: “Yahvé es capaz de darte mucho más que esto”.
10 Then Amaziah separated them, [to wit], the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
Entonces Amasías los separó, al ejército que había venido a él desde Efraín, para que volvieran a casa. Por lo tanto, su ira se encendió en gran medida contra Judá, y volvieron a su casa con una ira feroz.
11 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
Amasías se armó de valor y condujo a su pueblo hasta el Valle de la Sal, e hirió a diez mil de los hijos de Seír.
12 And [other] ten thousand [left] alive the children of Judah carried away captive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they were all broken in pieces.
Los hijos de Judá se llevaron vivos a diez mil, los llevaron a la cima de la roca y los arrojaron desde la cima de la roca, de modo que todos quedaron destrozados.
13 But the soldiers of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even to Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
Pero los hombres del ejército que Amasías envió de regreso, para que no fueran con él a la batalla, cayeron sobre las ciudades de Judá desde Samaria hasta Bet Horón, e hirieron a tres mil de ellas, y tomaron mucho botín.
14 Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up [to be] his gods, and bowed himself before them, and burned incense to them.
Cuando Amasías regresó de la matanza de los edomitas, trajo a los dioses de los hijos de Seír y los erigió en sus dioses, y se inclinó ante ellos y les quemó incienso.
15 Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thy hand?
Por eso la ira de Yahvé ardió contra Amasías, y le envió un profeta que le dijo: “¿Por qué has buscado los dioses de los pueblos, que no han librado a su propio pueblo de tus manos?”
16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, Art thou made of the king's council? forbear? why shouldst thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbore, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.
Mientras hablaba con él, el rey le dijo: “¿Te hemos hecho uno de los consejeros del rey? Detente. ¿Por qué has de ser abatido?” Entonces el profeta se detuvo y dijo: “Sé que Dios ha determinado destruirte, porque has hecho esto y no has escuchado mi consejo”.
17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.
Entonces Amasías, rey de Judá, consultó a sus consejeros y envió a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: “¡Ven! Vamos a mirarnos a la cara”.
18 And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that [was] in Lebanon sent to the cedar that [was] in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife: and there passed by a wild beast that [was] in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
Joás, rey de Israel, envió a decir a Amasías, rey de Judá: “El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que estaba en el Líbano: ‘Dale tu hija a mi hijo como esposa’. Entonces pasó un animal salvaje que estaba en el Líbano y pisoteó el cardo.
19 Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldst thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldst fall, [even] thou, and Judah with thee?
Te dices a ti mismo que has golpeado a Edom, y tu corazón te eleva para presumir. Ahora quédate en casa. ¿Por qué te has de meter en líos, para que caigas, tú y Judá contigo?”
20 But Amaziah would not hear; for it [came] from God, that he might deliver them into the hand [of their enemies], because they sought after the gods of Edom.
Pero Amasías no quiso escuchar, porque era de Dios, para entregarlos en manos de sus enemigos, porque habían buscado los dioses de Edom.
21 So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, [both] he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which [belongeth] to Judah.
Entonces subió Joás, rey de Israel, y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se miraron a la cara en Bet Semes, que pertenece a Judá.
22 And Judah was defeated before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
Judá fue derrotado por Israel, y cada uno huyó a su tienda.
23 And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
Joás, rey de Israel, apresó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, en Bet Semes y lo llevó a Jerusalén, y derribó el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
24 And [he took] all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
Tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los utensilios que se encontraban en la casa de Dios con Obed-Edom, y los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los rehenes, y regresó a Samaria.
25 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, lived after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, fifteen years.
Amasías hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió quince años después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, [are] they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
Los demás hechos de Amasías, los primeros y los últimos, ¿no están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá e Israel?
27 Now after the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.
Desde el momento en que Amasías se apartó de seguir a Yahvé, hicieron una conspiración contra él en Jerusalén. Él huyó a Laquis, pero enviaron tras él a Laquis y lo mataron allí.
28 And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
Lo llevaron a caballo y lo enterraron con sus padres en la Ciudad de Judá.
