2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah [was] twenty and five years old [when] he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
১অমৎসিয় পঁচিশ বছর বয়সে রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন এবং ঊনত্রিশ বছর যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করেন; তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল যিহোয়দ্দন, তিনি ছিলেন যিরূশালেমের মেয়ে।
2 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
২সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ভাল অমৎসিয় তাই করতেন ঠিকই, তবে সমস্ত মন দিয়ে তা করতেন না।
3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
৩পরে রাজ্যটি শক্তভাবে তাঁর অধীনে আনবার পর যে দাসেরা রাজাকে, অর্থাৎ তাঁর বাবাকে মেরে ফেলেছিল তাদের তিনি হত্যা করলেন।
4 But he slew not their children, but [did] as [it is] written in the law of the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
৪কিন্তু তিনি তাদের সন্তানদের হত্যা করলেন না, ব্যবস্থার গ্রন্থে, মোশির বইয়ে সদাপ্রভুর যে আদেশ লেখা আছে, সেইমতই কাজ করলেন, যেমন, “সন্তানদের জন্য বাবা, কিম্বা বাবার জন্য সন্তান মারা যাবে না, কিন্তু প্রত্যেকেই তার নিজের পাপে মরবে।”
5 Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of [their] fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice [men], [able] to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
৫পরে অমৎসিয় যিহূদাকে জড়ো করে সমস্ত, যিহূদা ও সমস্ত বিন্যামীনের পূর্বপুরুষদের বংশ অনুসারে সহস্রপতি ও শতপতিদের অধীনে লোকদের দাঁড় করালেন এবং কুড়ি বছর ও তার থেকে বেশী বয়সের লোকদের গণনা করে দেখলেন, যুদ্ধে যাবার জন্য তিন লক্ষ উপযুক্ত লোক রয়েছে, যারা বর্শা ও ঢাল ব্যবহার করতে সক্ষম।
6 He hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
৬আর তিনি একশো তালন্ত রূপা মজুরী দিয়ে ইস্রায়েল থেকে এক লক্ষ বলবান বীর নিলেন।
7 But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD [is] not with Israel, [to wit], [with] all the children of Ephraim.
৭কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের একজন লোক এসে তাঁকে বললেন, “হে রাজা, ইস্রায়েলের সৈন্যদল তোমার সঙ্গে যেন না যায়; কারণ ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে, অর্থাৎ সমস্ত ইফ্রয়িম সন্তানদের সঙ্গে সদাপ্রভু থাকেন না।
8 But if thou wilt go, do [it], be strong for the battle: God will make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
৮তুমি গিয়ে যুদ্ধ কর এবং যুদ্ধে জয়ী হও; শত্রুর কাছে ঈশ্বর তোমাকে পরাজিত করবেন, কারণ সাহায্য করবার অথবা পরাজিত করবার ক্ষমতা ঈশ্বরের আছে।”
9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
৯তখন অমৎসিয় ঈশ্বরের লোককে বললেন, “ভাল, কিন্তু সেই ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যদলকে যে একশো তালন্ত রূপা দিয়েছি, তার জন্য কি করা যায়?” ঈশ্বরের লোক বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে এর থেকে আরও অনেক বেশী দিতে পারেন।”
10 Then Amaziah separated them, [to wit], the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
১০তাতে অমৎসিয় তাদের অর্থাৎ ইফ্রয়িম থেকে তাঁর কাছে আসা সেই সৈন্যদলকে বাড়ি পাঠাবার জন্য আলাদা করলেন; কাজেই যিহূদার বিরুদ্ধে তাদের ক্রোধ জ্বলে উঠল, তারা রেগে আগুন হয়ে নিজের জায়গায় ফিরে গেল।
11 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
১১পরে অমৎসিয় নিজেকে শক্তিশালী করলেন এবং তাঁর লোকেদের বের করে লবণ উপত্যকায় গিয়ে সেয়ীর সন্তানদের দশ হাজার লোককে হত্যা করলেন।
12 And [other] ten thousand [left] alive the children of Judah carried away captive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they were all broken in pieces.
১২আর যিহূদার সন্তানরা তাদের দশ হাজার জীবিত লোককে বন্দি করে পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় নিয়ে গিয়ে সেখান থেকে নীচে ফেলে দিল, এতে তারা সবাই একেবারে থেঁৎলে গেল।
13 But the soldiers of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even to Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
১৩কিন্তু অমৎসিয় নিজের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে না দিয়ে যে সৈন্যদল কে ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন, তারা শমরিয়া থেকে বৈৎ-হোরোণ পর্যন্ত যিহূদার নগর আক্রমণ করে তাদের তিন হাজার লোককে আঘাত করল এবং অনেক জিনিস লুট করে নিয়ে গেল।
14 Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up [to be] his gods, and bowed himself before them, and burned incense to them.
১৪ইদোমীয়দের হত্যা করে ফিরে আসবার পর অমৎসিয় সেয়ীর সন্তানদের প্রতিমাগুলি সঙ্গে করে নিয়ে আসলেন, নিজের দেবতা হিসাবে তাদের স্থাপন করলেন এবং তাদেরকে প্রণাম করতে ও তাদের উদ্দেশ্যে ধূপ জ্বালাতে লাগলেন।
15 Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thy hand?
১৫এতে অমৎসিয়ের উপর সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ জ্বলে উঠল, তিনি একজন ভাববাদীকে তাঁর কাছে পাঠালেন; ভাববাদী তাঁকে বললেন, “ঐ লোকদের যে দেবতারা নিজের হাত থেকে তাদের প্রজাদেরকে উদ্ধার করে নি, আপনি তাদের কেন খোঁজ করেছন?”
16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, Art thou made of the king's council? forbear? why shouldst thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbore, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.
১৬তাঁর এই কথার উত্তরে রাজা তাকে বললেন, “আমরা কি তোমাকে রাজার মন্ত্রীর পদে নিযুক্ত করেছি? তুমি থামবে নাকি মার খাবে?” তখন সেই ভাববাদী থামলেন, তবুও বললেন, “আমি জানি, ঈশ্বর আপনাকে ধ্বংস করার পরিকল্পনা করেছেন, কারণ আপনি এই কাজ করেছেন, আর আমার পরামর্শ শোনেন নি।”
17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.
১৭পরে যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয় পরামর্শ করে যেহূর নাতি যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যোয়াশের কাছে বলে পাঠালেন, “আসুন, আমরা মুখোমুখি হই।”
18 And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that [was] in Lebanon sent to the cedar that [was] in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife: and there passed by a wild beast that [was] in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
১৮তখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যোয়াশ যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয়ের বলে পাঠালেন, “লিবানোনের শিয়ালকাঁটা লিবানোনেরই এরস গাছের কাছে বলে পাঠালেন, ‘আমার ছেলের সঙ্গে তোমার মেয়ের বিয়ে দাও;’ তারপর লিবানোনের একটি বুনো জন্তু এসে সেই শিয়ালকাঁটাকে পায়ে মাড়িয়ে দিল।
19 Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldst thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldst fall, [even] thou, and Judah with thee?
১৯তুমি বলছ, ‘দেখ, আমি ইদোমকে আঘাত করেছি;’ মনে মনে এই কথা ভেবে আপনি গর্ব করছেন; এখন তুমি ঘরে বসে থাক, অমঙ্গলের সঙ্গে বিরোধ করতে কেন এগিয়ে যাবে এবং তুমি ও যিহূদা, উভয়ে কেন ধ্বংস হবে?”
20 But Amaziah would not hear; for it [came] from God, that he might deliver them into the hand [of their enemies], because they sought after the gods of Edom.
২০কিন্তু অমৎসিয় সেই কথা শুনলেন না, কারণ লোকেরা ইদোমের দেবতাদের খোঁজ করেছিল বলে তারা যেন শত্রুদের হাতে ধরা পড়ে, তাই এটা ঈশ্বর থেকে হল।
21 So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, [both] he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which [belongeth] to Judah.
২১পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যোয়াশ যুদ্ধে গেলেন এবং যিহূদার দখলে থাকা বৈৎ-শেমশে তিনি ও যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয় একে অন্যের মুখোমুখি হলেন।
22 And Judah was defeated before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
২২তখন ইস্রায়েলের কাছে যিহূদা সম্পূর্ণভাবে হেরে গেল, প্রত্যেকে নিজের নিজের তাঁবুতে পালিয়ে গেল।
23 And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
২৩আর ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যোয়াশ বৈৎ-শেমশে যিহোয়াহসের নাতি, যোয়াশের ছেলে, যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয়কে বন্দী করে যিরূশালেমে আনলেন এবং ইফ্রয়িমের দরজা থেকে কোণের দরজা পর্যন্ত যিরূশালেমের চারশো হাত লম্বা প্রাচীর ভেঙে ফেললেন।
24 And [he took] all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
২৪আর ঈশ্বরের গৃহে ওবেদ-ইদোমের দখলে যত সোনা, রূপা ও পাত্র পাওয়া গিয়েছিল, সে সমস্ত এবং রাজবাড়ীর ধন-সম্পদ ও জামিন হিসাবে কতগুলি মানুষকে নিয়ে শমরিয়াতে ফিরে গেলেন।
25 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, lived after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, fifteen years.
২৫ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে যোয়াশের মৃত্যুর পরে যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের ছেলে অমৎসিয় আরও পনেরো বছর বেঁচে ছিলেন।
26 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, [are] they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
২৬অমৎসিয়ের বাকি কাজের কথা প্রথম থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত “যিহূদা ও ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস” নামে বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
27 Now after the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.
২৭অমৎসিয় সদাপ্রভুর পথে চলা থেকে সরে যাওয়ার পর লোকেরা যিরূশালেমে তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে ষড়যন্ত্র করল, এতে তিনি লাখীশে পালিয়ে গেলেন, কিন্তু তারা তাঁর পিছনে পিছনে লাখীশে লোক পাঠিয়ে সেখানে তাঁকে হত্যা করল।
28 And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
২৮পরে ঘোড়ার পিঠে করে তাঁকে এনে যিহূদার নগরে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে তাঁর কবর দিল।
