2 Chronicles 12
1 And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
Or il arriva qu'aussitôt que le Royaume de Roboam fut établi et fortifié, [Roboam] abandonna la Loi de l'Eternel, et tout Israël [l'abandonna aussi] avec lui.
2 And it came to pass, [that] in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
C'est pourquoi il arriva que la cinquième année du Roi Roboam, Sisak Roi d'Egypte monta contre Jérusalem, parce qu'ils avaient péché contre l'Eternel.
3 With twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen: and the people [were] without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Cushites.
Il avait avec lui mille deux cents chariots, et soixante mille hommes de cheval, et le peuple qui était venu avec lui d'Egypte, [savoir], les Libyens, les Sukiens, et les Ethiopiens, était sans nombre.
4 And he took the fortified cities which [pertained] to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
Et il prit les villes fortes qui appartenaient à Juda, et vint jusqu'à Jérusalem.
5 Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and [to] the princes of Judah, that were assembled at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
Alors Sémahia le Prophète vint vers Roboam, et vers les principaux de Juda qui s'étaient assemblés à Jérusalem à cause de Sisak, et leur dit: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: Vous m'avez abandonné, c'est pourquoi je vous ai aussi abandonnés entre les mains de Sisak.
6 Upon which the princes of Israel, and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD [is] righteous.
Alors les principaux d'Israël et le Roi s'humilièrent, et dirent: L'Eternel est juste.
7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; [therefore] I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
Et quand l'Eternel eut vu qu'ils s'étaient humiliés, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Sémahia, en disant: Ils se sont humiliés, je ne les détruirai point, mais je leur donnerai dans peu de temps quelque moyen d'échapper, et ma fureur ne se répandra point sur Jérusalem par le moyen de Sisak.
8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
Toutefois ils lui seront asservis, afin qu'ils sachent ce que c'est que de ma servitude, et de la servitude des Royaumes de la terre.
9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
Sisak donc Roi d'Egypte monta contre Jérusalem, et prit les trésors de la maison de l'Eternel, et les trésors de la Maison Royale, il prit tout; il prit aussi les boucliers d'or que Salomon avait faits.
10 Instead of which, king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed [them] to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.
Et le Roi Roboam fit des boucliers d'airain au lieu de ceux-là, et les mit entre les mains des capitaines des archers qui gardaient la porte de la maison du Roi.
11 And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and conveyed them, and brought them again into the guard-chamber.
Et quand le Roi entrait dans la maison de l'Eternel, les archers venaient, et les portaient, puis ils les rapportaient dans la chambre des archers.
12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy [him] altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
Parce donc qu'il s'humilia, la colère de l'Eternel se détourna de lui, en sorte qu'il ne les détruisit point entièrement; car aussi il y avait de bonnes choses en Juda.
13 So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam [was] one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name [was] Naamah an Ammonitess.
Ainsi le Roi Roboam se fortifia dans Jérusalem, et régna. Or Roboam était âgé de quarante et un ans, quand il commença à régner, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que l'Eternel avait choisie d'entre toutes les Tribus d'Israël pour y mettre son Nom; et sa mère avait nom Nahama, et était Hammonite.
14 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
Mais il fit ce qui est déplaisant à [l'Eternel]; car il ne disposa point son cœur pour chercher l'Eternel.
15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, [are] they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, concerning genealogies? And [there were] wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
Or les faits de Roboam, tant les premiers que les derniers, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans les Livres de Sémahia le Prophète, et de Hiddo le Voyant, dans le récit des généalogies; avec les guerres que Roboam et Jéroboam ont eues tout le temps qu'ils ont vécu?
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
Et Roboam s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli en la Cité de David; et Abija son fils régna en sa place.
