1 Thessalonians 5
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write to you.
А про часи і пори, брати, писати вам немає потреби,
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
бо ви добре знаєте, що День Господній прийде, як злодій вночі.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Коли люди говоритимуть: «Мир і безпека», тоді несподівано прийде на них загибель, як страждання на породіллю, і вони не уникнуть цього.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Але ви, брати, не в темряві, щоб цей День схопив вас, як злодій.
5 Ye are all children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Адже ви всі сини світла й сини дня. Ми не належимо ні до ночі, ні до темряви.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
Тож не спімо, як інші, а пильнуймо та будьмо тверезими.
7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunken, are drunken in the night.
Бо ті, що сплять, сплять уночі і ті, що напиваються, напиваються вночі.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
А ми належимо до дня, тому будьмо тверезими, одягнувши нагрудник віри й любові та шолом надії спасіння.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Адже Бог призначив нас не для гніву, а щоб ми отримали спасіння через Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Він помер за нас, щоб ми – живі чи мертві – могли жити разом із Ним.
11 Wherefore, comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Тому підбадьорюйте та збудовуйте одне одного, як ви й робите.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
Ми просимо вас, брати, шануйте тих, хто багато працює серед вас, керуючи та наставляючи вас у Господі.
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. [And] be at peace among yourselves.
Поважайте їх у любові за їхню роботу. Живіть у мирі одне з одним.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient towards all [men].
Закликаємо вас, брати, наставляйте лінивих, втішайте малодушних, допомагайте слабким, будьте терплячі до всіх.
15 See that none render evil for evil to any [man]; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all [men].
Пильнуйте, щоб ніхто не віддавав злом за зло, але завжди прагніть робити добро одне одному й всім іншим.
16 Rejoice evermore.
Завжди радійте!
17 Pray without ceasing.
Безперестанно моліться!
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
За все дякуйте, бо це є воля Божа для вас у Христі Ісусі.
19 Quench not the spirit.
Не вгашайте Духа!
20 Despise not prophesyings.
Не зневажайте пророцтв,
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
а все перевіряйте й тримайтеся того, що добре.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Стережіться всякого роду зла.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Нехай Сам Бог миру освячує вас у всій повноті. Нехай ваш дух, душа й тіло будуть збережені бездоганними до приходу Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.
24 Faithful [is] he that calleth you, who also will do [it].
Той, Хто вас покликав, – вірний, і Він зробить це.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
Брати, моліться за нас!
26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
Вітайте всіх братів святим поцілунком.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
Закликаю вас перед Господом прочитати цього листа всім братам.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you. Amen.
Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа [нехай буде] з вами.
