< 1 Samuel 2 >
1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Na Hana bɔɔ mpae se, “Me koma di ahurusi wɔ Awurade mu! Awurade mu na wɔma mʼabɛn so. Afei, manya mmuae ama mʼatamfo, na mʼani gye wɔ wo gye no ho.
2 [There is] none holy as the LORD: for [there is] none besides thee: neither [is there] any rock like our God.
“Obiara nyɛ kronkron sɛ Awurade! Obi bi nnka wo ho; Ɔbotan bi nni hɔ sɛ yɛn Nyankopɔn.
3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let [not] arrogance come out of your mouth: for the LORD [is] a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
“Nkɔ so nkasa ahomaso so anaa nka ahantan kasa, efisɛ Awurade yɛ Onyankopɔn a onim, na wɔfa ne so kari nneyɛe.
4 The bows of the mighty men [are] broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
“Wɔabubu akofo mpeaw, na wɔama wɔn a wohintihintiw no ahoɔden. Afei, wɔayɛ den.
5 [They that were] full have hired out themselves for bread; and [they that were] hungry ceased: so that the barren hath borne seven; and she that hath many children is become feeble.
Wɔn a na wodidi mee pintinn no afei, ɔkɔm rekum wɔn. Na wɔn a ɔkɔm rekum wɔn no nso afei, wɔamee pintinn. Afei, obonin wɔ mma baason. Na ɔbea a na ɔwɔ mma pii no, mma bɛbɔ no.
6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. (Sheol )
“Awurade de nkwa ne owu nyinaa ba; Ɔka bi hyɛ ɔda mu, na onyan ebinom. (Sheol )
7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
Awurade yɛ obi ohiani na wayɛ obi ɔdefo; ɔbrɛ obi ase na wapagyaw obi.
8 He raiseth the poor out of the dust, [and] lifteth the beggar from the dunghill, to set [them] among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth [are] the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.
Ɔpagyaw ohiani fi mfutuma mu Yiw, oyi no fi nsosiw mu! Ɔyɛ wɔn sɛ mmapɔmma, de wɔn tena anuonyam ahengua so. “Efisɛ asase fapem yɛ Awurade de, na watoto wiase sɛnea ɛsɛ.
9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
Ɔbɛbɔ onyamesurofo ho ban, na amumɔyɛfo bɛyera esum mu. “Sɛ ahoɔden mu nko de a, obiara renni nkonim.
10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
Wɔn a wɔko tia Awurade no, ɔbɛdwerɛw wɔn. Ɔpae aprannaa fi wim gu wɔn so; Awurade bu atɛn wɔ asase so baabiara. “Ɔma ne hempɔn ahoɔden kɛse; nea wasra no no, ɔhyɛ nʼahoɔden mu den.”
11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest.
Afei, Elkana ne Hana gyaw Samuel hɔ ma wɔkɔɔ fie wɔ Rama. Na abarimaa no bɛyɛɛ Awurade somfo wɔ ɔsɔfo Eli nan ase.
12 Now the sons of Eli [were] sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.
Na Eli mmabarima no yɛ asansafo a wɔmfɛre Awurade,
13 And the priest's custom with the people [was], [that], when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a flesh-hook of three teeth in his hand;
anaa wɔn asɔfodwuma. Bere biara a obi bɛba abɛbɔ afɔre na wɔrenoa nam no, Eli mma no soma ɔsomfo de adinam a ɛwɔ ano abiɛsa ba. Bere a nam no si gya so no,
14 And he struck [it] into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the flesh-hook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites that came thither.
ɔsomfo no de adinam no wɔ dadesɛn no mu. Na wɔhyɛ sɛ nea adinam no bɛwɔ mu no nyinaa yɛ Eli mma no de. Wɔde Israelfo a wɔba Silo hɔ nyinaa faa saa ɔkwan yi so.
15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have boiled flesh of thee, but raw.
Ɛtɔ da bi a, ansa na wɔbɛhyew srade no, ɔsɔfo no somfo ba bɛka kyerɛ onipa a ɔrebɔ afɔre no se, “Ma ɔsɔfo no nam no bi, na ɔntoto. Ɔmpɛ wo nam a woanoa, na mmom, nam amono nko ara.”
16 And [if] any man said to him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and [then] take [as much] as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, [No]; but thou shalt give [it to me] now: and if not, I will take [it] by force.
Onipa a ɔrebɔ afɔre no ka se, “Fa dodow biara a wopɛ, nanso srade no de, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔhyew ansa.” Ɛhɔ na ɔsomfo no bɛka se, “Dabi da, fa ma me mprempren ara, anyɛ saa a, mede me tumi bɛfa.”
17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.
Na saa bɔne a mmerante yi yɛ yi yɛ akyiwade wɔ Awurade anim, efisɛ na wobu Awurade afɔrebɔ no animtiaa.
18 But Samuel ministered before the LORD, [being] a child, girded with a linen ephod.
Samuel de, ɛwɔ mu sɛ na ɔyɛ abarimaa de, nanso na ɔyɛ Awurade somfo a wɔde nwera asɔfotade ahyɛ no te sɛ ɔsɔfo.
19 Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought [it] to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband, to offer the yearly sacrifice.
Afe biara a ne na ne ne kunu rekɔbɔ afirihyia afɔre no, na ne na pam batakari ketewaa bi de kɔma no.
20 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee issue of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went to their own home.
Ansa na wɔbɛsan akɔ fie no, Eli hyira Elkana ne ne yere ka se, “Awurade mma ɔbea yi nwo mma, na ommesi nea ɔbɔɔ ne ho mpae nyae a ɔde no maa Awurade no anan mu.”
21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.
Na Awurade maa Hana woo mmabarima baasa ne mmabea baanu. Na Samuel nyinii wɔ Awurade anim.
22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did to all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Afei, Eli bɔɔ akwakoraa, nanso na onim nea ne mmabarima no de reyɛ Israelfo. Nhwɛso bi ne sɛ, na onim sɛ ne mmabarima no fa mmabaa a wɔboa ntamadan no ano adwumayɛ no.
23 And he said to them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
Eli ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Metete mo ho nsɛm fi ɔmanfo nkyɛn a ɛfa amumɔyɛsɛm a mudi no ho. Adɛn nti na mokɔ so yɛ bɔne?
24 No, my sons; for [it is] no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress.
Me mma, ɛsɛ sɛ mugyae! Mo ho nsɛm a metete fi Awurade nkurɔfo nkyɛn no nye.
25 If one man shall sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man shall sin against the LORD, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not to the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.
Sɛ obi yɛ bɔne tia ɔfoforo a, Onyankopɔn tumi gyina mu ma ɔfɔdifo no. Nanso sɛ obi yɛ bɔne tia Awurade a, hena na obetumi agyina mu?” Eli mma no antie wɔn agya afotu no, na Awurade nso reyɛ nʼadwene sɛ obekum wɔn.
26 And the child Samuel continued to grow, and was in favor both with the LORD, and also with men.
Na abofra Samuel nyinii, na ɔkɔɔ so nyaa adom fii Awurade ne ɔmanfo nkyɛn.
27 And there came a man of God to Eli, and said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear to the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?
Da koro bi Onyankopɔn nipa bi baa Eli nkyɛn bɛkae se, “Sɛɛ na Awurade se, ‘Manna me ho adi pefee ankyerɛ wʼagya fi bere a na wɔyɛ nkoa wɔ Misraim no ana?
28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel [to be] my priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give to the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
Israel mmusuakuw no nyinaa mu no, Aaron na miyii no sɛ, ɔnyɛ me sɔfo a ɔbɛkɔ afɔremuka anim akɔhyew aduhuam, na wɔahyɛ asɔfotade wɔ mʼanim. Na mede afɔre a wɔbɔɔ no ogya so no nyinaa maa mo asɔfo no.
29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded [in my] habitation; and honorest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
Adɛn nti na mutiatia me kum afɔre ne mʼaduan afɔre so? Adɛn nti na mubu mo mmabarima sen me? Moawe afɔrebɔde a me nkurɔfo Israelfo bɔ no mu kyɛfa a eye no, na monam so ayeyɛ akɛse!’
30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
“Enti asɛm a Awurade, Israel Nyankopɔn ka ara ni: ‘Meremma nneɛma bɔne a moreyɛ yi nkɔ so! Mehyɛɛ bɔ sɛ wo Lewi abusuafo no bɛyɛ mʼasɔfo, nanso wɔn a wodi me ni no, medi wɔn ni; na wɔn a wobu me animtiaa no, mɛbɔ wɔn ahohora.
31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thy arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
Mɛma mo fifo agyae mʼasɔfodi som no. Mpatuwu rempa mo fi da na mo mu biara rentena ase nni mfe mmee,
32 And thou shalt see an enemy [in my] habitation, in all [the wealth] which [God] shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thy house for ever.
na mubehu awerɛhow wɔ me tenabea. Ɛwɔ mu, trenee bɛba Israel so, nanso obiara nni mo abusua mu a obenyin abɔ akwakoraa.
33 And the man of thine, [whom] I shall not cut off from my altar, [shall be] to consume thy eyes, and to grieve thy heart: and all the increase of thy house shall die in the flower of their age.
Wɔn a wɔbɛka no bɛtena ase awerɛhow ne ahoɔmmerɛw mu. Na mo asefo bɛtetew abun awuwu.
34 And this [shall be] a sign to thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die both of them.
“‘Na sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ na wubehu sɛ nea maka no bɛba mu saa no nti, mɛma wo mmabarima baanu no, Hofni ne Pinehas no awuwu da koro mu.
35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, [that] shall do according to [that] which [is] in my heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before my Anointed for ever.
Ɛno akyi masi ɔsɔfo foforo a ɔyɛ ɔnokwafo a ɔbɛsom me, na wayɛ nea mɛkyerɛ no sɛ ɔnyɛ biara. Mehyira nʼasefo, na ne fifo bɛyɛ ahene a mɛsra wɔn ngo no asefo akosi daa.
36 And it shall come to pass, [that] every one that is left in thy house, shall come [and] crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priest's offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
Na wʼasefo nyinaa bɛkotow nʼasefo, asrɛsrɛ wɔn sika ne aduan. Wɔbɛka se, “Mesrɛ mo, momma yɛn nnwuma bi nyɛ wɔ asɔfo no mu sɛnea ɛbɛma yɛanya aduan adi amee.”’”
