1 Now the Philistines collected their armies to battle, and were assembled at Shochoh, which [belongeth] to Judah, and encamped between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.
爰にペリシテ人其軍を集めて戰はんとしユダに屬するシヨコにあつまりシヨコとアゼカの間なるバスダミムに陣をとる
2 And Saul and the men of Israel were assembled and encamped by the valley of Elah, and [they] set the battle in array against the Philistines.
サウルとイスラエルの人々集まりてエラの谷に陣をとりペリシテ人にむかひて軍の陣列をたつ
3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and [there was] a valley between them.
ペリシテ人は此方の山にたちイスラエルは彼方の山にたつ谷は其あひだにあり
4 And there went out a champion from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose hight [was] six cubits and a span.
時にペリシテ人の陣よりガテのゴリアテと名くる挑戰者いできたる其身の長六キユビト半
5 And [he had] a helmet of brass upon his head, and he [was] armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat [was] five thousand shekels of brass.
首に銅の盔を戴き身に鱗綴の鎧甲を着たり其よろひの銅のおもさは五千シケルなり
6 And [he had] greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.
また脛には銅の脛當を着け肩の間に銅の矛戟を負ふ
7 And the staff of his spear [was] like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head [weighed] six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.
其槍の柄は機の梁のごとく槍の鋒刃の鐵は六百シケルなり楯を執る者其前にゆく
8 And he stood and cried to the armies of Israel, and said to them, Why have ye come out to set [your] battle in array? [am] not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
ゴリアテ立てイスラエルの諸行伍によばはり云けるは汝らはなんぞ陣列をなして出きたるや我はペリシテ人にして汝らはサウルの臣下にあらずや汝ら一人をえらみて我ところにくだせ
9 If he shall be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I shall prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
其人もし我とたたかひて我をころすことをえば我ら汝らの臣僕とならんされど若し我かちてこれを殺さば汝ら我らの僕となりて我らに事ふ可し
10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
かくて此ペリシテ人いひけるは我今日イスラエルの諸行伍を挑む一人をいだして我と戰はしめよと
11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.
サウルおよびイスラエルみなペリシテ人のこの言を聞き驚きて大に懼れたり
12 Now David [was] the son of that Ephrathite of Beth-lehem-judah, whose name [was] Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men [for] an old man in the days of Saul.
抑ダビデはかのベテレヘムユダのエフラタ人ヱサイとなづくる者の子なり此人八人の子ありしがサウルの世には年邁みてすでに老たり
13 And the three eldest sons of Jesse went [and] followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle [were] Eliab the first-born, and next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
ヱサイの長子三人ゆきてサウルにしたがひて戰爭にいづ其戰にいでし三人の子の名は長をエリアブといひ次をアビナダブといひ第三をシヤンマといふ
14 And David [was] the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.
ダビデは季子にして其兄三人はサウルにしたがへり
15 But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Beth-lehem.
ダビデはサウルに往來してベテレヘムにて其父の羊を牧ふ
16 And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
彼ペリシテ人四十日のあひだ朝夕近づきて前にたてり
17 And Jesse said to David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched [corn], and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;
時にヱサイ其子ダビデにいひけるは今汝の兄のために此烘麥一斗と此十のパンを取りて陣營にをる兄のところにいそぎゆけ
18 And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of [their] thousand, and see how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
また此十の乾酪をとりて其千夫の長におくり兄の安否を視て其返事をもちきたれと
19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, [were] in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
サウルと彼等およびイスラエルの人は皆ペリシテ人とたたかひてエラの谷にありき
20 And David rose early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.
ダビデ朝夙くおきて羊をひとりの牧者にあづけヱサイの命ぜしごとく携へゆきて車營にいたるに軍勢いでて行伍をなし鯨波をあげたり
21 For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.
しかしてイスラエルとペリシテ人陣列をたてて行伍を行伍に相むかはせたり
22 And David left his furniture in the hand of the keeper of the vessels, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.
ダビデ其荷をおろして荷をまもる者の手にわたし行伍の中にはせゆきて兄の安否を問ふ
23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, from the armies of the Philistines, and spoke according to the same words: and David heard [them].
ダビデ彼等と倶に語れる時視よペリシテ人の行伍よりガテのペリシテのゴリアテとなづくる彼の挑戰者のぼりきたり前のことばのごとく言しかばダビデ之を聞けり
24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were exceedingly afraid.
イスラエルの人其人を見て皆逃て之をはなれ痛く懼れたり
25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that hath come up? surely to defy Israel hath he come: and it shall be, [that] the man who shall kill him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
イスラエルの人いひけるは汝らこののぼり來る人を見しや誠にイスラエルを挑んとて上りきたるなり彼をころす人は王大なる富を以てこれをとまし其女子をこれにあたへて其父の家にはイスラエルの中にて租税をまぬかれしめん
26 And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who [is] this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
ダビデ其傍にたてる人々にかたりていひけるは此ペリシテ人をころしイスラエルの耻辱を雪ぐ人には如何なることをなすや此割禮なきペリシテ人は誰なればか活る神の軍を搦む
27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
民まへのごとく答へていひけるはかれを殺す人には斯のごとくせらるべしと
28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thy heart; for thou art come down that thou mayest see the battle.
兄エリアブ、ダビデが人々とかたるを聞しかばエリアブ、ダビデにむかひて怒りを發しいひけるは汝なにのために此に下りしや彼の野にあるわづかの羊を誰にあづけしや我汝の傲慢と惡き心を知る其は汝戰爭を見んとて下ればなり
29 And David said, What have I now done? [Is there] not a cause?
ダビデいひけるは我今なにをなしたるや只一言にあらずやと
30 And he turned from him towards another, and spoke after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.
又ふりむきて他の人にむかひ前のごとく語れるに民まへのごとく答たり
31 And when the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed [them] before Saul: and he sent for him.
人々ダビデが語れる言をききてこれをサウルのまへにつげければサウルかれを召す
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
ダビデ、サウルにいひけるは人々かれがために氣をおとすべからず僕ゆきてかのペリシテ人とたたかはん
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou [art but] a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
サウル、ダビデにいひけるは汝はかのペリシテ人をむかへてたたかふに勝ず其は汝は少年なるにかれは若き時よりの戰士なればなり
34 And David said to Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
ダビデ、サウルにいひけるは僕さきに父の羊を牧るに獅子と熊と來りて其群の羔を取たれば
35 And I went after him, and smote him, and delivered [it] out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught [him] by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
其後をおひて之を搏ち羔を其口より援ひいだせりしかして其獣我に猛りかかりたれば其鬚をとらへてこれを撃ちころせり
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
僕は旣に獅子と熊とを殺せり此割禮なきペリシテ人活る神の軍をいどみたれば亦かの獣の一のごとくなるべし
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
ダビデまたいひけるはヱホバ我を獅子の爪と熊の爪より援ひいだしたまひたれば此ペリシテ人の手よりも援ひいだしたまはんとサウル、ダビデにいふ往けねがはくはヱホバ汝とともにいませ
38 And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
是においてサウルおのれの戎衣をダビデに衣せ銅の盔を其首にかむらせ亦鱗綴の鎧をこれにきせたり
39 And David girded his sword upon his armor, and he essayed to go; for he had not proved [it]. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I have not proved [them]. And David put them off from him.
ダビデ戎衣のうへに劍を佩て往かんことを試む未だ驗せしことなければなりしかしてダビデ、サウルにいひけるは我いまだ驗せしことなければ是を衣ては往くあたはずと
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling [was] in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine.
ダビデこれを脱ぎすて手に杖をとり谿間より五の光滑なる石を拾ひて之を其持てる牧羊者の具なる袋に容れ手に投石索を執りて彼ペリシテ人にちかづく
41 And the Philistine advanced and drew near to David; and the man that bore the shield [went] before him.
ペリシテ人進みきてダビデに近づけり楯を執るもの其まへにあり
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
ペリシテ人環視てダビデを見て之を藐視る其は少くして赤くまた美しき貌なればなり
43 And the Philistine said to David, [Am] I a dog, that thou comest to me with staffs? and the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
ペリシテ人ダビデにいひけるは汝杖を持てきたる我豈犬ならんやとペリシテ人其神の名をもってダビデを呪詛ふ
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh to the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
しかしてペリシテ人ダビデにいひけるは我がもとに來れ汝の肉を空の鳥と野の獣にあたへんと
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
ダビデ、ペリシテ人にいひけるは汝は劍と槍と矛戟をもて我にきたる然ど我は萬軍のヱホバの名すなはち汝が搦みたるイスラエルの軍の神の名をもて汝にゆく
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into my hand; and I will smite thee, and take thy head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day to the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
今日ヱホバ汝をわが手に付したまはんわれ汝をうちて汝の首級を取りペリシテ人の軍勢の尸體を今日空の鳥と地の野獣にあたへて全地をしてイスラエルに神あることをしらしめん
47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle [is] the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.
且又この群衆みなヱホバは救ふに劍と槍を用ひたまはざることをしるにいたらん其は戰はヱホバによれば汝らを我らの手にわたしたまはんと
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran towards the army to meet the Philistine.
ペリシテ人すなはち立あがり進みちかづきてダビデをむかへしかばダビデいそぎ陣にはせゆきてペリシテ人をむかふ
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and hurled it with his sling, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
ダビデ手を嚢にいれて其中より一つの石をとり投てペリシテ人の顙を撃ければ石其顙に突きいりて俯伏に地にたふれたり
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but [there was] no sword in the hand of David.
かくダビデ投石索と石をもてペリシテ人にかちペリシテ人をうちて之をころせり然どダビデの手には劍なかりしかば
51 Therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of its sheath, and slew him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
ダビデはしりてペリシテ人の上にのり其劍を取て之を鞘より抜きはなしこれをもて彼をころし其首級を斬りたり爰にペリシテの人々其勇士の死るを見てにげしかば
52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even to Gath, and to Ekron.
イスラエルとユダの人おこり喊呼をあげてペリシテ人をおひガテの入口およびエクロンの門にいたるペリシテ人の負傷人シヤライムの路に仆れてガテおよびエクロンにおよぶ
53 And the children of Israel returned from chasing the Philistines, and they plundered their tents.
イスラエルの子孫ペリシテ人をおふてかへり其陣を掠む
54 And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent.
ダビデかのペリシテ人の首を取りて之をエルサレムにたづさへきたりしが其甲冑はおのれの天幕におけり
55 And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said to Abner the captain of the host, Abner, whose son [is] this youth? And Abner said, [As] thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.
サウル、ダビデがペリシテ人にむかひて出るを見て軍長アブネルにいひけるはアブネル此少者はたれの子なるやアブネルいひけるは王汝の霊魂は生くわれしらざるなり
56 And the king said, Inquire thou whose son the stripling [is].
王いひけるはこの少年はたれの子なるかを尋ねよ
57 And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
ダビデかのペリシテ人を殺してかへれる時アブネルこれをひきて其ペリシテ人の首級を手にもてるままサウルのまへにつれゆきければ
58 And Saul said to him, Whose son [art] thou, [thou] young man? And David answered, I [am] the son of thy servant Jesse the Beth-lehemite.
サウルかれにいひけるは若き人よ汝はたれの子なるやダビデこたへけるは汝の僕ベテレヘム人ヱサイの子なり
