< 1 Kings 8 >

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, to king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which [is] Zion.

2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which [is] the seventh month.
Tete Israel ŋutsuwo katã kpe ta ɖe Fia Solomo gbɔ le Agbadɔmeŋkekenyui la ɖuɣi le ɣleti adrelia me.
3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
Esi Israelviwo ƒe ametsitsiawo katã va ɖo la, nunɔlawo tsɔ nubablaɖaka la.
4 And they brought the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that [were] in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring.
Wotsɔ Yehowa ƒe nubablaɖaka la kple takpeƒe ƒe agbadɔ la kple nu kɔkɔe siwo katã le eme. Nunɔlawo kple Levitɔwoe tsɔ wo.
5 And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled to him, [were] with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
Fia Solomo kple Israelviwo katã ƒo ƒu ɖe nubablaɖaka la ŋgɔ eye wotsɔ alẽ kple nyitsu geɖe siwo womate ŋu axlẽ o la sa vɔe.
6 And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy [place], [even] under the wings of the cherubim.
Le esia megbe la, nunɔlawo tsɔ Yehowa ƒe nubablaɖaka la va da ɖe enɔƒe le gbedoxɔ la ƒe kɔkɔe ƒe emetɔ si nye Kɔkɔeƒe ƒe Kɔkɔeƒe la me eye wokɔe da ɖe kerubiawo ƒe aʋalawo te.
7 For the cherubim spread forth [their] two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staffs thereof above.
Wowɔ kerubiawo ale be woƒe aʋalawo tsyɔ teƒe si woada nubablaɖaka la ɖo la dzi. Ale woƒe aʋalawo tsyɔ nubablaɖaka la kple kpo siwo wowɔ ɖe wo ŋu la dzi.
8 And they drew out the staffs, that the ends of the staffs were seen out in the holy [place] before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are to this day.
Kpoawo didi ale gbegbe be woƒe nugbɔwo didi gbɔ aɖaka la ŋu, woate ŋu akpɔ wo tso xɔ emetɔ, Kɔkɔeƒe ƒe Kɔkɔeƒe la me, gake womate ŋu akpɔ wo le Kɔkɔeƒe la godo o. Wogale afi ma va se ɖe egbe.
9 [There was] nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses deposited there at Horeb, when the LORD made [a covenant] with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
Naneke menɔ nubablaɖaka la me ɣe ma ɣi o, negbe kpe kpakpa eve siwo Mose tsɔ de wo me le Horeb to la dzi esime Yehowa bla nu kple Israelviwo le woƒe dzodzo le Egipte megbe la ko.
10 And it came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy [place], that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,
Kpɔ ɖa! Esi nunɔlaawo trɔ tso Kɔkɔeƒe ƒe Kɔkɔeƒe la gbɔna ko la, lilikpo keklẽ aɖe yɔ Yehowa ƒe gbedoxɔ la me taŋtaŋ!
11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
Nunɔlaawo magate ŋu awɔ woƒe dɔ o, le lilikpo la ta elabena Yehowa ƒe ŋutikɔkɔe yɔ gbedoxɔ la me.
12 Then spoke Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
Fia Solomo gblɔ be “Yehowa gblɔ be yeanɔ lilikpo doviviti aɖe me.
13 I have surely built thee a house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.
Metu gbedoxɔ nyui aɖe na wò, si me nànɔ tegbee.”
14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel were standing.
Tete Fia la trɔ ɖe ameha la gbɔ, ameawo tsi tsitre ɖe eŋkume be yewoaxɔ eƒe yayra eye wòyra wo.
15 And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled [it], saying,
Egblɔ bena, “Woakafu Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu, ame si tsɔ eƒe asi wɔ ŋugbe si wòdo kple eƒe nu na fofonye, David dzi egbe
16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel from Egypt, I have chosen no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
elabena Yehowa gblɔ na Fia David be, ‘Tso gbe si gbe mekplɔ nye dukɔ Israel tso Egipte la, nyemetia du aɖeke le Israel toawo katã me be woatu gbedoxɔ nam ɖe afi ma be nye ŋkɔ nanɔ eme o. Ke metia David be wòanɔ nye dukɔ Israel nu.’
17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
“Ame siae nye fofonye, Fia David. Edi be yeatu gbedoxɔ aɖe na Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu ƒe ŋkɔ.
18 And the LORD said to David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house to my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart.
Ke Yehowa gblɔ na fofonye, David be, ‘Esi nèɖoe ɖe wò dzi me be yeatu gbedoxɔ na nye ŋkɔ la, èwɔe nyuie be nèɖoe ɖe wò dzi me.
19 Nevertheless, thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house to my name.
Ke, menye wòe nye ame si atu gbedoxɔ la o, ke viwò, ame si nye wò ŋutɔ wò ŋutilã kple ʋu; eyae nye ame si atu gbedoxɔ la na nye ŋkɔ.’
20 And the LORD hath performed his word that he spoke, and I have risen in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
“Azɔ la, Yehowa wɔ nu si ŋugbe wòdo elabena mezu Israel fia ɖe fofonye David yome eye azɔ la, metu gbedoxɔ sia na Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la ƒe ŋkɔ.
21 And I have set there a place for the ark, in which [is] the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them from the land of Egypt.
Mewɔ teƒe aɖe ɖe gbedoxɔ la me na nubablaɖaka la si me nubabla si Yehowa wɔ kple mía fofowo esime wòkplɔ wo tso Egiptenyigba dzi la le.”
22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands towards Heaven:
Azɔ Solomo tsi tsitre ɖe Yehowa ƒe vɔsamlekpui la ŋgɔ le Israel ƒe ameha blibo la ŋkume, eye wòke eƒe abɔwo me do ɖe dziƒo
23 And he said, LORD God of Israel, [there is] no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart.
eye wògblɔ be, “Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu, Mawu aɖeke meɖi wò, le dziƒo afi ma alo anyigba dzi afi sia o, wò ame si léa wò lɔlɔ̃ ƒe nubabla me ɖe asi kple wò subɔla siwo zɔna ɖe wò mɔwo nu kple dzi blibo.
24 Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him: thou didst speak also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled [it] with thy hand, as [it is] this day.
Egbe la, èwɔ ŋugbe si nèdo na fofonye David, ame si nye wò subɔla la dzi. Ètsɔ wò nu do ŋugbee eye nètsɔ wò asi wɔ edzi abe ale si wòle egbe ene.
25 Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; provided thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
“Azɔ la, Oo Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu, wɔ ŋugbe bubu si nèdo nɛ la hã dzi. Èdo ŋugbe be, ne fofonye ƒe dzidzimeviwo alé wò mɔwo me ɖe asi eye woawɔ wò lɔlɔ̃nu abe ale si eya wɔ ene la, ekema wo dometɔ ɖeka anɔ Israel ƒe fiazikpui dzi ɣe sia ɣi.
26 And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou didst speak to thy servant David my father.
Ke azɔ la, Israel ƒe Mawu, wɔ ŋugbedodo si nèwɔ na wò dɔla David, fofonye la hã dzi.
27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?
“Ke, ɖe Mawu ate ŋu anɔ anyigba dzia? Dziƒowo kple dziƒo kɔkɔtɔwo kekeake hã melolo na wò, hafi gbedoxɔ sia nasu na wò o!
28 Yet have thou respect to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken to the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee this day:
Ke, ɖo to wò dɔla ƒe gbedodoɖa kple eƒe kokoƒoƒo na nublanuikpɔkpɔ, O Yehowa, nye Mawu. Se wò dɔla ƒe ɣlidodo kple gbe si wò dɔla le dodom ɖa na wò egbe.
29 That thy eyes may be open towards this house night and day, [even] towards the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken to the prayer which thy servant shall make towards this place.
Na wò ŋkuwo nanɔ gbedoxɔ sia ŋu zã kple keli, teƒe si ŋu nègblɔ le be ‘Nye ŋkɔ anɔ afi ma’ ale be nàse wò subɔla ƒe gbe si wòado ɖa ɖo ɖe teƒe sia.
30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray towards this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place: and when thou hearest, forgive.
Ɖo to wò subɔla kple Israelviwo ƒe kukuɖeɖe ne wodze ŋgɔ afi sia eye wodo gbe ɖa na wò. Ɛ̃, se woƒe gbedodoɖa le dziƒo si nye wò nɔƒe eye ne èsee la, ekema nàtsɔ nu vɔ̃wo ake.
31 If any man shall trespass against his neighbor, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thy altar in this house:
“Ne wotsɔ nya ɖe ame aɖe ŋu be ewɔ nu vɔ̃ aɖe eye wòtsi tsitre ɖe afi sia, le wò vɔsamlekpui la ŋgɔ heka atam be yemewɔ nu vɔ̃ la o la,
32 Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
ekema, se eƒe gbe le dziƒo, nàtso afia na ame si tɔ dzɔ, nàbu fɔ agɔdzela la eye nàna eƒe fɔɖiɖi nava eƒe ta dzi. Wɔ na ame si tɔ dzɔ la ɖe eƒe dzɔdzɔenyenye nu.
33 When thy people Israel shall be smitten before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication to thee in this house:
“Ne futɔwo ɖu wò dukɔ, Israel dzi elabena wowɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋutiwò, ne wotrɔ va gbɔwò eye woʋu wò ŋkɔ me, ne wodo gbe ɖa na wò le gbedoxɔ sia me la,
34 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.
ekema se woƒe gbe tso dziƒo eye nàtsɔ wò dukɔ, Israel ƒe nu vɔ̃ akee eye nàgbugbɔ wo ava anyigba si nèna wo fofowo la dzi.
35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray towards this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
“Ne dziƒowo nu tu eye tsi mele dzadzam o elabena wò amewo wɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋutiwò, ne wodo gbe ɖa ɖo ɖe teƒe sia, ʋu wò ŋkɔ me eye woɖe asi le woƒe nu vɔ̃ ŋu elabena èwɔ fu wo la,
36 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou mayest teach them the good way in which they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
ekema se woƒe kokoƒoƒo tso dziƒo eye nàtsɔ wò subɔlawo, wò dukɔ, Israel ƒe nu vɔ̃wo ake wo. Fia agbenɔnɔ ƒe mɔ nyuitɔ wo eye nàna tsi nadza ɖe anyigba si nèna wo abe woƒe domenyinu ene la dzi.
37 If there shall be in the land famine, if there shall be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, [or] if there shall be caterpillar; if their enemy shall besiege them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness [there shall be];
“Ne dɔ to le anyigba la dzi to dɔléle ƒe agblemenukuwo dzi dzedze alo ʋetsuviwo ƒe vava me, ne Israel ƒe futɔwo ɖe to ɖe Israel ƒe duwo dometɔ aɖe eye ne dɔvɔ̃ to le anyigba la dzi alo ne nu bubu ɖe sia ɖe na dɔ to le anyigba la dzi,
38 Whatever prayer and supplication shall be [made] by any man, [or] by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands towards this house:
ne wò dukɔ Israel ƒe amewo ƒo koko na wò, wo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe dze si eya ŋutɔ ƒe dzi ƒe fuɖenamewo eye wòdo eƒe asiwo ɖe dzi do ɖe gbedoxɔ sia gbɔ la,
39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, [even] thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men; )
ekema se woƒe gbedodoɖa tso dziƒo, wò nɔƒe, tsɔ woƒe nu vɔ̃wo ke wo eye nàkpe ɖe ame sia ame si ʋu eƒe nu vɔ̃ me na wò le nyateƒe me la ŋu elabena ènya ame siawo ƒe dzi me.
40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest to our fathers.
Ale woasrɔ̃ ale si woavɔ̃ wòe esi wole anyigba si nèna wo fofowo la dzi.
41 Moreover, concerning a stranger, that [is] not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name's sake;
“Amedzro si metso wò dukɔ, Israel me o, ke wòtso didiƒenyigba aɖe dzi le wò ŋkɔ ta,
42 (For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy out-stretched arm; ) when he shall come and pray towards this house;
elabena amewo ase nu tso wò ŋkɔ gã la, wò asi sesẽ la kple wò alɔ si nèdo ɖe dzi la ta, ne amedzro sia va eye wòdo gbe ɖa le gbedoxɔ sia gbɔ la,
43 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as [do] thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
ekema se woƒe gbedodoɖa le dziƒo, wò nɔƒe la eye nàwɔ nu si wobia wò la na wo. Ekema anyigbadzitɔwo katã anya nu tso wò ŋkɔxɔxɔ ŋu eye woavɔ̃ wò abe ale si wò ŋutɔ wò Israelviwo vɔ̃a wòe ene, ale woawo hã anya be gbedoxɔ sia, si metu na wò la nye tɔwò nyateƒe.
44 If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray to the LORD towards the city which thou hast chosen, and [towards] the house that I have built for thy name:
“Ne èna wò amewo ho aʋa ɖe woƒe futɔwo ŋu eye wotrɔ mo ɖo ɖe Yerusalem, wò du tiatia la kple gbedoxɔ sia, si metu na wò ŋkɔ la,
45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
se woƒe gbedodoɖa kple kokoƒoƒo le dziƒo eye nàxɔ na wo.
46 If they shall sin against thee, (for [there is] no man that sinneth not, ) and thou shalt be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives to the land of the enemy, far or near;
“Ne wowɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋuwò, abe ale si ame sia ame wɔa nu vɔ̃ ene, nèdo dɔmedzoe ɖe wo ŋu eye nèna woƒe futɔwo ɖe aboyo wo yi dzronyigba aɖe dzi, didiƒe alo kpuiƒe
47 [Yet] if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent and make supplication to thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;
eye ne wotrɔ susu le anyigba si dzi woɖe aboyo wo yi, eye wotrɔ dzi me heƒo koko le aboyonyigba dzi hegblɔ be, ‘Míewɔ nu vɔ̃, míeda vo eye míewɔ nu ŋutasẽtɔe’
48 And [so] return to thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, who led them away captive, and pray to thee towards their land, which thou gavest to their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
eye ne wotrɔ va gbɔwò kple woƒe dzi blibo kple luʋɔ blibo le ame siwo ɖe aboyo wo ƒe anyigba dzi eye wodo gbe ɖa ɖo ɖe anyigba si nèna wo fofowo gbɔ, ɖo ɖe du si nètia kple gbedoxɔ si metu na wò ŋkɔ gbɔ la,
49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling-place, and maintain their cause,
ekema nàse woƒe gbedodoɖa kple kukuɖeɖe le dziƒo, wò nɔƒe eye nàwɔ woƒe biabiawo dzi na wo.
50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions in which they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:
“Tsɔ wò amewo ƒe nu vɔ̃wo katã ke wo eye nàna ame siwo ɖe aboyo wo la nakpɔ nublanui na wo
51 For they [are] thy people, and thy inheritance, which thou broughtest out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
elabena wò amewoe wonye, wò domenyinu si nèɖe tso Egiptetɔwo ƒe kpodzo mee wonye.
52 That thy eyes may be open to the supplication of thy servant, and to the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken to them in all their supplications to thee.
“Na wò ŋkuwo kple towo siaa naʋu ɖe woƒe kukuɖeɖewo ŋu. Oo, Yehowa, se woƒe gbedodoɖawo eye nàwɔ woƒe biabiawo dzi na wo ɣe sia ɣi si woado ɣli na wò
53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, [to be] thy inheritance, as thou didst speak by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.
elabena ètia wo le anyigbadzidukɔwo katã dome be woanye wò domenyinu, abe ale si nègblɔ to wò dɔla Mose dzi ene esi nèkplɔ mía fofowo tso Egipte, Oo Aƒetɔ Yehowa.”
54 And it was [so], that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication to the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees, with his hands spread up to heaven.
Esi Solomo wu gbedodoɖa siawo katã na Yehowa nu la, etsi tsitre tso Yehowa ƒe vɔsamlekpui la ŋgɔ afi si wòdze klo ɖo heke eƒe abɔwo me ɖo ɖe dziƒo.
55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
Etsi tsitre eye wòyra Israel ƒe ƒuƒoƒo blibo la kple gbe sesẽ aɖe hegblɔ be,
56 Blessed [be] the LORD, that hath given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
“Woakafu Yehowa, ame si wɔ eƒe ŋugbedodowo katã dzi eye wòna ŋutifafa eƒe dukɔ, Israel. Nya ɖeka pɛ gɔ̃ hã megbe emevava le ŋugbe siwo wòdo to Mose dzi la me o.
57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu la nanɔ kpli mí abe ale si wònɔ kple mía fofowo eye megblẽ mí ɖi gbeɖegbeɖe o la ene.
58 That he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.
Eya ŋutɔ nanyɔ didi le mía me be, míawɔ eƒe lɔlɔ̃nu le nu sia nu me eye míawɔ eƒe se kple ɖoɖo siwo wòna mía tɔgbuiwo la dzi.
59 And let these my words with which I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh to the LORD our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:
Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu la nena nye gbedodoɖa sia me nyawo nanɔ eƒe ŋkume zã kple keli ale be wòakpe ɖe nye kple Israel blibo la ŋu le míaƒe gbe sia gbe ƒe nuhiahiãwo me.
60 That all the people of the earth may know, that the LORD [is] God, [and that there is] none else.
Wòana wòava eme be anyigbadzitɔwo katã nanya be Yehowae nye Mawu eye mawu bubu aɖeke kura megali o.
61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
Oo, nye amewo, mianɔ agbe dzadzɛ, le Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu la ŋkume, miawɔ eƒe sewo kple ɖoɖowo katã dzi, abe ale si miele ewɔm egbe ene la ko!”
62 And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.
Azɔ la, Fia Solomo kple Israel blibo la sa vɔwo le Yehowa ŋkume.
63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he offered to the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.
Solomo sa akpedavɔ na Yehowa kple nyi akpe blaeve-vɔ-eve kple alẽ kple gbɔ̃ akpe alafa ɖeka blaeve. Ale Fia la kple Israelviwo katã kɔ Yehowa ƒe gbedoxɔ la ŋu.
64 The same day did the king consecrate the middle of the court that [was] before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt-offerings, and meat-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings: because the brazen altar that [was] before the LORD [was] too little to receive the burnt-offerings, and meat-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings.

65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entrance into Hamath to the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, [even] fourteen days.

66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
