1 Kings 12
1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
೧ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.
2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard [of it], (for he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt; )
೨ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನನ್ನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
3 That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
೩ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಡನೆ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ,
4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
೪ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹೇರಿದನು. ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನೀನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರ ಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ ನಾವು ನಿನಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
5 And he said to them, Depart yet [for] three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
೫ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ನೀವು ಈಗ ಹೋಗಿ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ನಂತರ ಪುನಃ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಜನರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು.
6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
೬ಆಗ ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡತಕ್ಕ ಉತ್ತರದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
7 And they spoke to him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant to this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
೭ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಈ ಜನರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿನಯವಾಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಅವರು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾಗಿರುವರು” ಎಂದರು.
8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that had grown up with him, [and] who stood before him:
೮ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಹಿರಿಯರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೆಳೆದ ತನ್ನ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾದ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ,
9 And he said to them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
೯“ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಹೇರಿದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು, ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಏನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
10 And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak to this people who spoke to thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou [it] lighter to us; thus shalt thou say to them, My little [finger] shall be thicker than my father's loins.
೧೦ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇರಿರುವ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರಮಾಡು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನೀನು, ‘ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ನಡುವಿಗಿಂತ ನನ್ನ ಕಿರಿಬೆರಳು ದಪ್ಪವಾಗಿದೆ.
11 And now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
೧೧ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿರುವುದು ನಿಜ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಭಾರವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಾರುಕೋಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದು ನಿಜ. ನಾನಾದರೋ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಳ್ಳುಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ದಂಡಿಸುವೆನು’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
೧೨ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಂತೆ ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
೧೩ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಠಿಣವಾದ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನು ಹಿರಿಯರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ,
14 And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father [also] chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
೧೪“ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿರುವುದು ನಿಜ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಭಾರವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಾರುಕೋಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದು ನಿಜ. ನಾನಾದರೋ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಳ್ಳು ಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ದಂಡಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು.
15 Wherefore the king hearkened not to the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
೧೫ಅವನು ಜನರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೇ ಹೋದದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದಲೇ. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಶಿಲೋವಿನವನಾದ ಅಹೀಯನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಸಿದ ಮಾತು ನೆರವೇರಿತು.
16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither [have we] inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thy own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.
೧೬ಅರಸನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ತಿಳಿದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ದಾವೀದನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೇನು ಪಾಲು? ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೇನು ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ, ದಾವೀದನವರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುಲವನ್ನು ನೀವೇ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
17 But [as for] the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
೧೭ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಾದರೋ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಅಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.
18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who [was] over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to enter his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
೧೮ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಬಿಟ್ಟೀ ಕೆಲಸದವರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನಾದ ಅದೋರಾಮನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದು ಕೊಂದರು. ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಬೇಗನೆ ರಥವನ್ನೇರಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದನು.
19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.
೧೯ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಡನೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
20 And it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come again, that they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
೨೦ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೆರೆದ ಸಭೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲವೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಕುಲವೂ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
21 And when Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
೨೧ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದ ನಂತರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ತನಗೆ ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲಗಳಿಂದ ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಂಬತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದನು.
22 But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
೨೨ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾದ ಶೆಮಾಯನಿಗೆ ದೈವೋತ್ತರವುಂಟಾಯಿತು.
23 Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
೨೩“ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ, ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ ಆದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲಗಳವರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಉಳಿದ ಜನರಿಗೂ
24 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.
೨೪‘ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ವಿಧೇಯರಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು.
25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt in it, and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
೨೫ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಶೆಕೆಮ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಪೆನೂವೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನೂ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಿದನು.
26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
೨೬ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ, “ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಪುನಃ ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ಆಗುವುದೋ ಏನೋ,
27 If this people go up to perform sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again to their lord, [even] to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
೨೭ಜನರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಯಜ್ಞಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಾದರೆ, ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಅವರ ಒಡೆಯನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ ಆದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿತು. ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾರು” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
28 Upon which the king took counsel, and made two calves [of] gold, and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
೨೮ಅವನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ, ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಎರಡು ಬಸವನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಜಾತ್ರೆಗಾಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದದ್ದು ಸಾಕಾಯಿತು, ಇಗೋ, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಿಂದ ಕರೆತಂದ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
29 And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other he placed in Dan.
೨೯ನಂತರ ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಿ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ದಾನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went [to worship] before the one, [even] to Dan.
೩೦ಇದು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಯಿತು. ಜನರು ಈ ಎರಡನೆಯ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾನಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ದರು.
31 And he made a house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.
೩೧ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ಪೂಜಾಗಿರಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಗುಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಲೇವಿಯರಲ್ಲದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರನ್ನು ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು.
32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that [is] in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth-el, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places which he had made.
೩೨ಅವನು ಎಂಟನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ, “ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದ ಜಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ತಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಬಸವನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಜ್ಞ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ತಾನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನು ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು.
33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, [even] in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast to the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
೩೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಎಂಟನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನಾಚರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಸ್ವ ಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಧೂಪಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅದರ ಮೆಟ್ಟಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
