< 1 Kings 12 >

1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
Rehoboam chu Shechem’ah aga chen, hichea chun Israel pumpi’n ama chu leng chansah dingin ana kikhom khom uvin ahi.
2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard [of it], (for he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt; )
Nebat chapa Jeroboam chun hichu ajah phat in Egypt’a konin ahung kile tan ahi. Ama chu Solomon lengpa a kona Egypt achu ana jamlut na ahi.
3 That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
Israel lamkai ten ama chu ana kouvun hiti chun Jeroboam chu Israel pumpi chutoh Rehoboam toh kihoulim khom dingin ana che uvin ahi.
4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
Amahon ajah’a, “Napa Solomon chun eina bolgim lheh jengun ahi. Hijeh chun napa in, poh hahsa sa eikoiden un, nangin nasuh lhomjep’a, nom dom a neilhaule, naglenggam a kitah tan in pang unge,” atiuve.
5 And he said to them, Depart yet [for] three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
Rehoboam in adonbut in, “Hiche thu’a hi ki ngaito na ding nithum phat neipeuvin, chujouteng leh ka donbutna ngai dingin hung kit tauvin,” ati. Hichun mipiho jong akile tauve.
6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
Hichun Rehoboam lengpa chun apa Solomon thumop a anapang upa ho chu ana kihou pin, “Hiche thua hi ipi na gel uvem? Iti ka donbut ding ham nei seipeh un,” ati.
7 And they spoke to him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant to this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
Hichun upa ho chun adonbut un, “Nangin amaho chungahi na vaihom nom jing’a ahile adei banguvin donbut in chuti leh amaho hi nangma midih tah hi jing diu ahi,” atipeh uve.
8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that had grown up with him, [and] who stood before him:
Ahinlah Rehoboam in tehseho thumop la louvin khangdong amatoh hung seilen khomho ama thumop’a hung pang hojoh chu ipi na gel uvem tin ana dong tan ahi.
9 And he said to them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
Aman amaho jah’a chun, “Hiche mipi hon napan kachung uva pohgih eipoh sah uhi neisuh lhompeh un atiu hi, iti ka donbut ding ham?” tin ana dongin ahi.
10 And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak to this people who spoke to thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou [it] lighter to us; thus shalt thou say to them, My little [finger] shall be thicker than my father's loins.
Hiche khangthah hochun, “Pohgih nei suhlhom peh un tia phun ho chu hitin donbut in, ‘Ka khut jung neocha hi kapa kong sang in asa jon ahi.
11 And now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
Kapan na chung uva pohgih nana pohsah’u chu, keiman ka gihsah cheh ding ahi. Kapan khaojanga na jep’u ahi, kenvang sakol jepna a kajep diu nahiuve tipeh in,” atiuve.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
Jeroboam le mipi ho chu abonchauvin Rehoboam in a thupeh bang bangin nithum chanin lengpa thupeh ngai dingin ahung kit tauvin ahi.
13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
Ahin Rehoboam in amaho koma chun, upa ho thumop lalou in, ngailou tah’in thu ana sei tan ahi.
14 And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father [also] chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
Aman akhangthah chanpi ho thumop joh chu ana sangin, “Kapan pohgih nana pohsah’u chu tuni ahi keiman ka gihsah cheh ding ahi. Kapan khaova najep’u ahin keiman sakol jepna a kajep diu na hiuve,” tin ana donbut tan ahi.
15 Wherefore the king hearkened not to the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
Hiti chun lengpan mipite chu nasah louvin anakoi tan ahi. Hitobang thilsoh hi Pathen thilgon ahi. Ajeh chu Shiloh a kona hung Ahizah Themgao mangcha a Pakaiyin Nebat chapa Jeroboam kom’a athu hetsah chu guilhun na ding thilsoh ahi.
16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither [have we] inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thy own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.
Israel mipiten lengpa kom’a ataonau chu asanpeh tapoi ti ahet phat’un, amahon hitin adonbut tauve, “David insung mite mangthah u hen! Jesse chapa chungah lunglutna kanei tapouve, Vo Israel mite inlam kijot tauvin! Vo David! Nang in na insung bou kivet tan,” tin asam un, hiti chun Israel mipi chu ainlam cheh uva akile tauvin ahi.
17 But [as for] the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
Ahinlah Rehoboam in Judahh khopi ho cheng Israel ho chung’a chun vai ana hom nalai jin ahi.
18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who [was] over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to enter his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
Rehoboam in namna a natongho chunga vaihompa chu mipi thunun ding chun agah sol’in ahile ama chu mipi hon songin ana seplih tauvin ahi. Hiche thu chu Rehoboam lengpan ajahdoh phat in asakol kangtalai chung’a akaldoh loijin Jerusalem lang’a ajam tan ahi.
19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.
Hiche’a pat hin sahlam gamkai’a um Israel phungho jousen David chilhah khat in achung'uva vai ahop dingu chu anom tapouvin ahi.
20 And it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come again, that they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
Israel mipiten Jeroboam chu Egypt akonin ahung kilekit taiti ajahphat’un, kikhopna anei un, amachu Israel pumpi chung’a vaipo din atung tauvin ahi. Judahh phung bou chun David chilhahte apanpiuvin ahi.
21 And when Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
Rehoboam chu Jerusalem alhung phat’in, aman Judahh le Benjamin phung’a konin a chomkhom in a lenggam tundoh kitna ding’a Israel mite sat dingin sepai sang jakhat le sangsom get alhengdoh in ahi.
22 But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Ahinlah Pathen in Pathen mipa Shemaiah kom’ah hitin ahin seije,
23 Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
“Benjamin le Judahh mipite ho jouse komle Judahh lengpa Solomon chapa Rehoboam komleh mipi adang jouse kom’ah seijin,
24 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.
‘Pathen in hitin aseiye, nasopi Israeltehi kisatpi hih’in, na incheh uva kile tauvin ajeh chu hiche hi keima na toh ahi!’ati. Hitichun Pakai thupeh chu ajui’un, ama ama inlang cheh’a akile tauvin ahi.
25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt in it, and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
Jeroboam Ephraim thinglhang gam’ah Shechem khopi chu ana tungdoh in, hichu ama leng khopi ahung hitan ahi. Hijouchun ama achen Panuel khopi jong aga tungdoh in ahi.
26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
Jeroboam chu aki ngaiton, “Keima ka chih theilou leh hiche lenggam hi David chilhahte langa le lut kit thei ahi,” tin agel in ahi.
27 If this people go up to perform sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again to their lord, [even] to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
“Hiche mipite hi Jerusalema ache uva Pakai Houin a kilhaina agabol jing uva ahileh, Judahh lengpa Rehoboam noiyah avel in hunglutkit get unte, chuleh keima hi eitha uva amahi a Leng uva aki lahlut kit diu ahi,” tin ana gel in ahi.
28 Upon which the king took counsel, and made two calves [of] gold, and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
Hijeh chun amiching hole athumop ho dungjuiyin, lengpa chun sana in bongnou lim asem in amite kom’a, “Jerusalema Pathen houva nache jiuhi, ahahsa behseh’e, veuvin Israelte Egypt a kona na hinpuidoh uva chu hiche Pathen teni hi ahi,” ati peh in ahi.
29 And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other he placed in Dan.
Aman hiche semthu bong nou lim pathen teni hi Bethel khopi ah khat chule Dan khopi ah khat akoiyin ahi.
30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went [to worship] before the one, [even] to Dan.
Ahinlah hiche chu amaho din chonsetna nasatah ahung hi khatai, ajeh chu mipin bongnou lim semthu chu ahou tauvin ahi chule mipi hochu Dan lang peh peh’a che touva hiche semthu pathen akikoi chu aga hou jiu ahi.
31 And he made a house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.
Jeroboam min semthu pathen houna mun’a chun doiphung phabep a tungdoh in, Levi phungmi hilou milham phabep jong thempu in a thenso tan ahi.
32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that [is] in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth-el, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places which he had made.
Chule Jeroboam in Bethel khopiah houthudol kut khat jong ana pandoh in, hichu lhaget channa ani somlenga nileh ana boljin ahi. Hichu Judahh ten hoidohna golvah kum khat na khatvei aboljiu tobanga ahi. Bethel muna chun amatah’in jong bongnou lim asemna achun kilhaina asemin chuleh semthu pathen houna in achun thempu phabep jong anapan sah in ahi.
33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, [even] in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast to the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
Hijeh chun, ama tah’in anagon nikho, lhaget lhinna ni, som le nga channa alhinteng Jeroboam amatah in Bethel kilhaina maicham gantha ama lungdei tah’in ana boljin, aman Israelte houthu dol’a kut ana phudoh’a chu ama tah in kilhaina gantha maicham chungah ana bol’in, gim namtui jong ana lhutnam jin ahi.
