1 Chronicles 21
1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and incited David to number Israel.
Ahora Satanás, planeando el mal contra Israel, pone en la mente de David el impulso de tomar el número de Israel.
2 And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know [it].
Entonces David dijo a Joab y a los capitanes del pueblo: Ahora, cuenten a todo Israel, desde Beerseba hasta Dan; y dame una palabra para estar seguro de su número.
3 And Joab answered, the LORD make his people a hundred times more numerous than they [are]: but, my lord the king, [are] they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?
Y Joab dijo: Que el Señor haga a su pueblo cien veces más en número que ellos; pero, mi señor rey, ¿no son todos los siervos de mi señor? ¿Por qué mi señor habría hecho esto? ¿Por qué se convertirá en una causa de pecado para Israel?
4 Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
Pero la palabra del rey era más fuerte que la de Joab. Entonces Joab salió, pasó por todo Israel y vino a Jerusalén.
5 And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to David. And all [they of] Israel were a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah [was] four hundred and seventy thousand men that drew sword.
Y Joab dio a David el número de todas las personas; Todos los hombres de Israel, que sacaban la espada, eran un millón, cien mil hombres; y los de Judá fueron cuatrocientos setenta mil hombres, que sacaban la espada.
6 But Levi and Benjamin he counted not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
Pero Leví y Benjamín no fueron contados entre ellos, porque Joab estaba disgustado con la orden del rey.
7 And God was displeased with this thing, therefore he smote Israel.
Y a Dios no le agradó esto; Así envió castigo a Israel.
8 And David said to God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
Entonces David dijo a Dios: Grande ha sido mi pecado al hacer esto; Pero ahora, ahora te ruego que quites la iniquidad de tu siervo, porque lo he hecho muy tontamente.
9 And the LORD spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,
Entonces vino la palabra del Señor a Gad, vidente de David, diciendo:
10 Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee [three] things; choose thee one of them, that I may do [it] to thee.
Ve y dile a David: El Señor dice: Se te ofrecen tres cosas: di cuál de ellas tendrás para que yo te lo haga.
11 So Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
Entonces Gad se acercó a David y le dijo: El Señor dice: Escoge lo que quieras:
12 Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while the sword of thy enemies overtaketh [thee]; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
Tres años cuando no habrá suficiente comida; o tres meses de guerra, cuando huirás en vuelo ante tus enemigos, estando en gran peligro de la espada; o tres días de la espada del Señor, enfermedad en la tierra, y el ángel del Señor llevando la destrucción por toda la tierra de Israel. Ahora piense en la respuesta que debo llevarle al que me envió.
13 And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great [are] his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
Y David dijo a Gad: Esta es una decisión difícil para mí: déjame entrar en las manos del Señor, porque grandes son sus misericordias: no permitas que yo entre en manos de los hombres.
14 So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
Entonces el Señor envió enfermedades a Israel, causando la muerte de setenta mil hombres.
15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thy hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Y Dios envió un ángel a Jerusalén para su destrucción: y cuando estaba a punto de hacerlo, el Señor vio, y se arrepintió del mal, y dijo al ángel de la destrucción, Basta; no hagas mas Ahora el ángel del Señor estaba junto al piso donde se trilla el grano de Ornán el jebuseo.
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders [of Israel], [who were] clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
Y alzando David sus ojos, vio al ángel del Señor entre la tierra y el cielo, con una espada desenvainada en su mano extendida sobre Jerusalén. Entonces David y los hombres responsables, vestidos con un ropas ásperas, se postraron al suelo.
17 And David said to God, [Is it] not I [that] commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but [as for] these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be afflicted.
Entonces David dijo a Dios: ¿No fui yo quien dio la orden para que la gente fuera contada? Soy yo el que cometió el pecado y el gran error pero estas son sólo ovejas; ¿qué han hecho? que tu mano, oh Señor Dios, se levante contra mí y contra mi familia, pero no contra tu pueblo para enviarles enfermedades.
18 Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and erect an altar to the LORD in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Entonces el ángel del Señor le ordenó a Gad que le dijera a David que debía ir y colocar un altar al Señor en el piso de grano de Ornán el jebuseo.
19 And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.
Y subió David, como Gad había dicho en el nombre del Señor.
20 And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
Y volviéndose, Ornán vio al ángel y sus cuatro hijos que estaban con él fueron a esconderse. Ahora Ornan estaba trillando el grano.
21 And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked, and saw David, and went out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself to David with [his] face to the ground.
Y cuando David llegó, Ornan, mirándolo, lo vio, salió de trillar el grano y se postró al suelo.
22 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of [this] threshing-floor, that I may build an altar in it to the LORD: thou shalt grant it to me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Entonces David dijo a Ornán: Véndeme el lugar para trillar el grano, para que pueda poner un altar aquí al Señor: déjame tenerlo por su precio completo; Para que esta enfermedad pueda ser detenida entre la gente.
23 And Ornan said to David, Take [it] to thee, and let my lord the king do [that which is] good in his eyes: lo, I give [thee] the oxen [also] for burnt-offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat-offering; I give it all.
Entonces Ornan dijo a David: Tómalo y deja que mi señor el rey haga lo que le parezca correcto. Mira, te doy los bueyes para las ofrendas quemadas y los instrumentos de limpieza de grano para la leña, y el grano para la ofrenda de cereales; Lo doy todo.
24 And king David said to Ornan, No; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take [that] which [is] thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt-offerings without cost.
Y el rey David dijo a Ornán: No; Ciertamente le daré el precio completo, porque no aceptaré para el Señor lo que es suyo, ni le daré una ofrenda quemada sin pagar.
25 So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
Entonces David le dio a Ornán seiscientos siclos de oro por el lugar.
26 And David built there an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt-offering.
Entonces David puso allí un altar al Señor, ofreciendo ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz con oraciones al Señor; y le dio una respuesta del cielo, enviando fuego sobre el altar de la ofrenda quemada.
27 And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into its sheath.
Entonces el Señor le dio órdenes al ángel, y él volvió a poner su espada en su cubierta.
28 At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
En ese momento, cuando David vio que el Señor le había dado una respuesta en el piso de trillar de Ornán el Jebuseo, hizo una ofrenda allí.
29 For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt-offering, [were] at that season in the high place at Gibeon.
Porque él templo del Señor, que Moisés había hecho en el desierto, y el altar de las ofrendas quemadas, estaban en ese momento en el lugar alto de Gabaón.
30 But David could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
Pero David no pudo ir antes para obtener instrucciones del Señor, tan grande era su temor a la espada del ángel del Señor.
