Romans 9
1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,
೧ನಾನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡದೆ, ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಂದ ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯೇ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.
2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
೨ನನಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ದುಃಖವೂ, ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಡೆಬಿಡದೆ ವೇದನೆಯೂ ಉಂಟು.
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
೩ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಜನರೂ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರೂ ಆದ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತಯೇಸುವಿನಿಂದ ಬಹಿಷ್ಕ್ರಿತನಾಗಿ ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾಗಲು ಸಹ ಸಿದ್ಧನಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertain the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
೪ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ವಂಶದವರು. ದೇವರು ಇವರನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು; ಇವರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದನು; ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ದೇವರು ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು, ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಆರಾಧನೆಯೂ, ವಾಗ್ದಾನಗಳೂ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವು.
5 Whose are the fathers, and from whom according to the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
೫ಅವರ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟವರೇ, ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ಶರೀರಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಅವರ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಆತನು ಎಲ್ಲಾದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಡೆಯನೂ, ನಿರಂತರ ಸ್ತುತಿ ಹೊಂದತಕ್ಕ ದೇವರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆಮೆನ್. (aiōn g165)
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken no effect. For they are not all Israel, who are descended from Israel:
೬ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಯಿತೆಂದು ನಾವು ಭಾವಿಸಬಾರದು. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲ.
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
೭ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ “ಇಸಾಕನಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟುವವರೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.” ಎಂದು ದೇವರು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
8 That is, They who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
೮ಆ ಮಾತಿನ ಅರ್ಥವೇನಂದರೆ ಶರೀರಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲ. ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೇ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವರು ಎಂಬುದು.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
೯“ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಬರುವೆನು ಆಗ ಸಾರಳಿಗೆ ಮಗನು ಇರುವನು” ಎಂಬ ವಾಗ್ದಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
೧೦ಇದು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಸಹ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲಪಿತೃವಾದ ಇಸಾಕನಿಂದ ಅವಳಿ ಜವಳಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಬಸುರಾದಾಗ ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಆಯಿತು.
11 ( For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth; )
೧೧ಆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಒಬ್ಬ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರು ಇನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟದೆಯೂ, ಒಳ್ಳೆದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೊದಲೇ “ಹಿರಿಯನು ಕಿರಿಯನಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುವನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ” ಆಕೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಇದರಿಂದ ದೇವರು ತನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆಂಬ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಧಾರಗೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಕರೆಯುವಾತನ ಚಿತ್ತದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಆಧಾರಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
12 It was said to her, The elder shall serve the younger.
೧೨
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
೧೩ಇದಕ್ಕನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ “ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದೆನು ಹಾಗೂ ಏಸಾವನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸಿದನು” ಎಂದು ಬರೆದದೆ.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? By no means.
೧೪ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಏನು ಹೇಳೋಣ? ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಉಂಟೋ? ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
೧೫“ಯಾವನ ಮೇಲೆ ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ಉಂಟೋ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸುವೆನು, ಯಾವನ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಕನಿಕರವಿದೆಯೋ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕನಿಕರ ತೋರಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ದೇವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.
೧೬ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ದೇವರ ದಯೆಯು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ ದೊರೆಯದೆ ದೇವರು ಕರುಣಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಲೇ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
17 For the scripture saith to Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
೧೭ದೇವರು ಫರೋಹನನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತಪಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದಲೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ” ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ.
18 Therefore he hath mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
೧೮ದೇವರು ಯಾರನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿದರೋ, ಯಾರನ್ನು ಕಠಿಣಪಡಿಸಿದರೋ ಅದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಆತನ ಇಷ್ಟಾನುಸಾರವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಇದರಿಂದ ತೋರಿಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
19 Thou wilt say then to me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
೧೯“ದೇವರ ಚಿತ್ತವನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವವರು ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ಆತನು ತಪ್ಪು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ” ಎಂದು ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವಿ.
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
೨೦ಎಲೋ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೇ ಹಾಗೆನ್ನಬೇಡ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ಎಷ್ಟರವನು? ರೂಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದು ರೂಪಿಸಿದವನಿಗೆ, “ಏಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆ ರೂಪಿಸಿದೆ”, ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವುದುಂಟೇ?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour?
೨೧ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಹೀನವಾದ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮುದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಂಬಾರನಿಗೆ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
೨೨ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರೂ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾದ ನಾಶನಪಾತ್ರರನ್ನು ಬಹು ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory,
೨೩ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಮೆ ಹೊಂದುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನು ಮೊದಲೇ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿರುವ ಕರುಣಾಪಾತ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮಾತಿಶಯವನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
೨೪ಆತನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕರೆಯದೆ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಗ್ರಂಥದ ವಚನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಸೂಚಿಸಿರುವಂತೆ ಅನ್ಯಜನರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಸಹ ಕರೆದನು.
25 As he saith also in Hosea, I will call them my people, who were not my people; and her beloved, who was not beloved.
೨೫ಆ ವಚನವೇನಂದರೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಜನವಲ್ಲದವರನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಜನರೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಅಪ್ರಿಯವಾದವಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಿಯಳೆಂದೂ ಹೇಳುವೆನು.
26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
೨೬ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಜನರಲ್ಲವೆಂದು’ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತೋ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅವರು ‘ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು’” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
27 Isaiah also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
೨೭ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಶಾಯನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ: “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಉಸುಬಿನಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಮಾತ್ರ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವರು” “ಕರ್ತನು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ವಚನವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೆರಿಸಿಮುಗಿಸುವನು” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
೨೮ಅದೇ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯದಿಂದ ಯೆಶಾಯನು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ವಚನದಲ್ಲಿ,
29 And as Isaiah said before, Except the Lord of Hosts had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and been made like Gomorrah.
೨೯“ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಂತಾನವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸದೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ “ಸೊದೋಮಿನ ಗತಿಯೇ ನಮಗಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಗೊಮೋರದ ದುರ್ದೆಸೆಯೇ ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು” ಎಂದು ಮೊದಲೇ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith.
೩೦ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಏನು ಹೇಳೋಣ? ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸದ ಅನ್ಯಜನರಿಗೆ ನೀತಿಯು ಅಂದರೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದುಂಟಾದ ನೀತಿಯು ದೊರಕಿತು.
31 But Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
೩೧ಆದರೆ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ದೊರಕಿಸುವ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು.
32 Why? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
೩೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು? ಅವರು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸದೆ ನೇಮನಿಷ್ಠೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ,
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
೩೩ಆ ಎಡವುವ ಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಎಡವಿಬಿದ್ದರು. ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ, “ಇಗೋ ಚೀಯೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಡವುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ ಮುಗ್ಗರಿಸುವ ಬಂಡೆಯನ್ನೂ ಇಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಡುವವನು ಆಶಾಭಂಗಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
