Romans 12
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Je vous conjure donc, mes frères, par la miséricorde de Dieu, d’offrir vos corps en hostie vivante, sainte, agréable à Dieu, pour que votre culte soit raisonnable.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (aiōn g165)
Et ne vous conformez point à ce siècle, mais réformez-vous par le renouvellement de votre esprit, afin que vous reconnaissiez combien la volonté de Dieu est bonne, agréable et parfaite. (aiōn g165)
3 For, through the grace given to me, I say, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Car je dis, en vertu de la grâce qui m’a été donnée, à tous ceux qui sont parmi vous, de ne pas être sages plus qu’il ne faut, mais de l’être avec modération, et selon la mesure de la foi que Dieu a départie à chacun.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Car, comme dans un seul corps, nous avons beaucoup de membres, et que tous les membres n’ont point la même fonctions,
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Ainsi, quoique beaucoup, nous sommes un seul corps en Jésus-Christ, étant tous en particulier les membres les uns des autres.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
C’est pourquoi, comme nous avons des dons différents, selon la grâce qui nous a été donnée, que celui qui a reçu le don de prophétie en use selon l’analogie de la foi;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
Que celui qui est appelé au ministère, s’y applique; que celui qui a reçu le don d’enseigner, enseigne;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Que celui qui a le don d’exhorter, exhorte; que celui qui fait l’aumône, la fasse avec simplicité; que celui qui préside soit attentif; que celui qui exerce les œuvres de miséricorde les exerce avec joie.
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Charité sans déguisement, ayant le mal en horreur, vous attachant au bien;
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Vous aimant mutuellement d’un amour fraternel; vous honorant les uns les autres avec prévenance;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Empressés au devoir, fervents d’esprit; servant le Seigneur;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing steadfastly in prayer;
Vous réjouissant par l’espérance; patients dans la tribulation; persévérants dans la prière;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
Dans les besoins des saints, partageant avec eux; aimant à donner l’hospitalité.
14 Bless them who persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Bénissez ceux qui vous persécutent; bénissez, et ne maudissez point;
15 Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
Réjouissez-vous avec ceux qui se réjouissent, pleurez avec ceux qui pleurent;
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Vous unissant tous dans les mêmes sentiments; n’aspirant point à ce qui est élevé, mais vous inclinant vers ce qu’il y a de plus humble. Ne soyez point sages à vos propres yeux;
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
Ne rendant à personne le mal pour le mal; ayant soin de faire le bien, non seulement devant Dieu, mais devant tous les hommes.
18 If it is possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
S’il se peut, et autant qu’il est en vous, ayant la paix avec tous les hommes;
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Ne vous défendant point vous-mêmes, mes bien-aimés, mais donnez lieu à la colère; car il est écrit: À moi est la vengeance; c’est moi qui ferai la rétribution, dit le Seigneur.
20 Therefore if thy enemy is hungry, feed him; if he thirsteth, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Au contraire, si ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui à manger; s’il a soif, donne-lui à boire; car, faisant cela, tu amasseras des charbons de feu sur sa tête.
21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Ne le laisse pas vaincre par le mal, mais triomphe du mal par le bien.
