< Psalms 75 >

1 To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. To thee, O God, do we give thanks, to thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
We yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you, God. We yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise·, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
When I choose the appointed time, I will judge blamelessly.
3 The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved: I bear up its pillars. (Selah)
The earth and all its inhabitants quake. I firmly hold its pillars. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 I said to the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
I said to the arrogant, “Don’t boast!” I said to the wicked, “Don’t lift up the horn.
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
Don’t lift up your horn on high. Don’t speak with a stiff neck.”
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another.
8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but its dregs, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
For in Adonai’s hand there is a cup, full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours it out. Indeed the wicked of the earth drink and drink it to its very dregs.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
But I will declare this forever: I will sing zahmar ·musical praise· to the God of Jacob [Supplanter].
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the upright shall be lifted up.
