< Psalms 144 >
1 A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, who teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Ke monūʻia pē ʻa Sihova ko hoku makatuʻu, ʻaia ʻoku ne ako ki hoku nima ketau, mo hoku louhiʻi nima ke tau:
2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
Ko hoku leleiʻanga, mo ʻeku kolo: mo hoku fale māʻolunga, mo hoku fakamoʻui; ko hoku fakaū, pea ko ia ʻoku ou falala ki ai; ʻoku ne fakamoʻulaloaʻi hoku kakai kiate au.
3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
ʻE Sihova, ko e hā ʻae tangata, ʻoku ke tokanga ai kiate ia! Pe ko e foha ʻoe tangata, koeʻuhi ʻoku ke finangalo kiate ia!
4 Man is like vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
ʻOku tatau ʻae tangata mo e meʻa vaʻinga: ko hono ngaahi ʻaho ʻoku hangē ko e ʻata ʻoku mole atu.
5 Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
Ofeʻi hifo, ʻE Sihova, ho ngaahi langi, pea ke hāʻele hifo: ala ki he ngaahi moʻunga, pea tenau kohu ai.
6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot thy arrows, and destroy them.
Lī atu ʻae ʻuhila, pea fakamovete ʻakinautolu: fanaʻi atu hoʻo ngaahi ngahau, mo fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu.
7 Send thy hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of foreigners;
Fekau mai ho nima mei ʻolunga; fakamoʻui au, mo fakahaofi au mei he ngaahi vai lahi, mei he nima ʻoe fānau ʻae muli;
8 Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
ʻAkinautolu ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻe honau ngutu ʻae vaʻinga, pea ko honau nima toʻomataʻu ko e nima toʻomataʻu ʻoe loi.
9 I will sing a new song to thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises to thee.
ʻE ʻOtua, te u hiva ʻaki ʻae hiva foʻou kiate koe: te u hiva fakamālō kiate koe ʻaki ʻae saliteli mo e meʻa faiva ʻoku filo ʻe hongofulu.
10 It is he that giveth salvation to kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
Ko ia ia ʻoku ne foaki ʻae fakamoʻui ki he ngaahi tuʻi: ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻa Tevita ko ʻene tamaioʻeiki mei he heletā ʻoe kovi.
11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
Fakamoʻui au, mo fakahaofi au mei he nima ʻoe fānau ʻae muli; ʻakinautolu ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻe honau ngutu ʻae vaʻinga, pea ko honau nima toʻomataʻu ko e nima toʻomataʻu ʻoe loi:
12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
Koeʻuhi ke tatau homau ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻakau naʻe tupu ʻi heʻenau talavou; ke tatau homau ngaahi ʻofefine mo e ngaahi maka ʻoe tuliki, kuo tā ʻo fakatatau mo e fale fakaʻeiʻeiki:
13 That our barns may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
Koeʻuhi ke pito ai homau ngaahi feleoko, ʻoku ʻomi mei ai ʻae meʻakai kehekehe kotoa pē: ke fānau ʻemau ngaahi fanga sipi ʻi he lauʻi afe mo e lauʻi mano ʻi homau ngaahi hala:
14 That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
Ke mālohi ai ʻemau fanga pulu tangata ke ngāue; ke ʻoua naʻa ai ʻae ʻoho mai, pē ʻae hola kituaʻā; ke ʻoua naʻa ai ha lāunga ʻi homau ngaahi hala.
15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
ʻOku monūʻia ʻae kakai ko ia, ʻaia ʻoku pehē: ʻio, ʻoku monūʻia ʻae kakai ko ia, ʻoku ʻOtua ʻaki ʻa Sihova.
