Psalms 138

1 A Psalm of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to thee.

Psaume de David. Je te célébrerai de tout mon coeur; En présence des dieux, je chanterai tes louanges.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Je me prosternerai devant ton saint temple, Et je célébrerai ton nom, à cause de ta bonté et de ta fidélité; Car tu as magnifiquement accompli ta promesse, Au-delà de ce que ton nom même faisait espérer.

3 In the day when I cried thou didst answer me, and strengthen me with strength in my soul.

Le jour où je t'ai invoqué, tu m'as exaucé; Tu as rendu le courage et la force à mon âme.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Tous les rois de la terre te célébreront, ô Éternel, Dès qu'ils auront entendu les paroles de ta bouche.

5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.

Ils glorifieront les desseins de l'Éternel; Car la gloire de l'Éternel est grande.

6 Though the LORD is high, yet hath he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Oui, l'Éternel, qui est le Très-Haut, sait voir les humbles. Et il reconnaît de loin les superbes.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Si je passe par l'adversité, tu me rendras la vie; Tu étendras ta main contre la fureur de mes ennemis, Et ta main droite me délivrera.

8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thy own hands.

L'Éternel achèvera ce qu'il a commencé en ma faveur. Éternel, ta bonté dure à toujours! N'abandonne pas l'oeuvre de tes mains!
