Psalms 111

1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

Alleluja! Aus ganzem Herzen danke ich dem Herrn im Kreis der Frommen und in der Gemeinde.

2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out by all them that have pleasure in them.

Des Herren Werke sind gewaltig, wie ausgesucht für alle ihre Zwecke.

3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Sein Wirken ist nur Pracht und Glanz, und ewig währet seine Liebe.

4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

Er sorgt für seiner Wunder Fortbestand; erbarmungsvoll und gnädig ist der Herr.

5 He hath given food to them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

Er spendet Nahrung denen, die ihn fürchten, auf immer seines Bundes eingedenk.

6 He hath shown his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.

Er zeigte seinem Volke seiner Taten höchstes Maß, wie er das Eigentum der Heiden ihnen zum Besitze gab.

7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.

Von Recht und Treue zeugt ja seiner Hände Werk; was er verfügt, ist alles wohlgemeint.

8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

Für alle Zeiten sind sie festgesetzt und ausgeführt mit Treue und Gerechtigkeit.

9 He sent redemption to his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

Er sandte seinem Volk Erlösung und schloß auf ewig seinen Bund. "Furchtbarer", "Heiliger" ist sein Name.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Der Weisheit Anfang ist die Furcht des Herrn. Wer also tut, der führt sich gut. Sein Ruhm besteht für ewige Zeiten.
