Proverbs 6
1 My son, if thou art surety for thy friend, if thou hast struck thy hand with a stranger,
১আমার পুত্র, তুমি যদি তোমার অর্থ সরিয়ে রাখো যেমন তোমার প্রতিবেশীর জামিন হয়ে থাক, যদি তুমি কাউকে ঋণ দেবার জন্য প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়ে থাক, তবে তুমি তা জানো না,
2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
২তবে তুমি নিজেই তোমার প্রতিশ্রুতির ফাঁদে পড়েছ, নিজের মুখের কথায় ধরা পড়েছ।
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and plead with thy friend.
৩এই ব্যাপারে, আমার পুত্র, এটা কর এবং নিজেকে রক্ষা কর; কারণ তুমি তোমার প্রতিবেশীর দয়ার পাত্র হয়েছ, যাও এবং নিজেকে নত কর এবং তোমাকে মুক্ত করতে প্রতিবেশীর কাছে ভিক্ষা চাও;
4 Give not sleep to thy eyes, nor slumber to thy eyelids.
৪তোমার চোখে ঘুম আসতে দিও না, চোখের পাতাকে বন্ধ হতে দিও না;
5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
৫নিজেকে হরিণের মত ব্যাধের হাত থেকে, পাখির মত শিকারীর হাত থেকে উদ্ধার কর।
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
৬হে অলস, তুমি পিপড়ের দিকে তাকাও, তার কাজ সব দেখে জ্ঞানবান হও।
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
৭তার কোনো সেনাপতি, কর্মচারী বা শাসক নেই,
8 Provideth her food in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
৮তবু সে গরমকালে নিজের খাবার তৈরী করে, শস্য কাটবার দিনের খাবার সঞ্চয় করে।
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
৯হে অলস, তুমি কত কাল শুয়ে থাকবে? কখন ঘুম থেকে উঠবে?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
১০“আর একটু ঘুম, আর একটু তন্দ্রা, আর একটু শুয়ে হাত জড়সড় করব,”
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
১১তাই তোমার দরিদ্রতা ডাকাতের মত আসবে, তোমার অভাব সজ্জিত সৈন্যর মত আসবে।
12 A worthless person, a wicked man, walketh with a perverse mouth.
১২অপদার্থ লোক, যে লোক অপরাধী, সে কথার কুটিলতায় চলে,
13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
১৩তার চোখ পিটপিট করে, পা দিয়ে ইঙ্গিত করে, সে আঙুল দিয়ে সংকেত দেয়,
14 Perverseness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
১৪তার হৃদয়ে কুটিলতা থাকে, সে সব দিন খারাপ ভাবনা করে, সে ঝগড়া বাধিয়ে দেয়।
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
১৫সেই জন্য হঠাৎ তার বিপদ আসবে, হঠাৎ সে ভেঙে পড়বে; আর প্রতিকার হবে না।
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination to him:
১৬এই ছয়টি বস্তুকে সদাপ্রভু ঘৃণা করেন, সাতটি জিনিস তাঁর কাছে জঘন্যতম;
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
১৭গর্বিতের চোখ, মিথ্যাবাদী জিভ, নির্দোষের রক্তপাতকারী হাত,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
১৮খারাপ ভাবনাকারী হৃদয়, খারাপ কাজ করতে দ্রুতগামী পা,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren.
১৯সাক্ষী যে মিথ্যা কথা বলে ও যে ভাইদের মধ্যে বিবাদ বপন করে।
20 My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
২০আমার পুত্র, তুমি তোমার বাবার আদেশ পালন কর এবং তোমার মায়ের শিক্ষা ত্যাগ কোরো না।
21 Bind them continually upon thy heart, and tie them about thy neck.
২১সব দিন তা তোমার হৃদয়ে গেঁথে রাখ, তোমার গলায় বেঁধে রাখ।
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
২২যখন তুমি হাঁটবে তারা তোমাকে পথ দেখাবে, যখন তুমি ঘুমাবে, তারা তোমার দিকে নজর রাখবে এবং তুমি যখন জেগে থাকবে, তারা তোমাকে শিক্ষা দেবে।
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
২৩কারণ আজ্ঞা প্রদীপ ও শিক্ষা আলো এবং নিয়মানুবর্তিতার অনুযোগ জীবনের পথ;
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of an adulteress woman.
২৪সে তোমাকে রক্ষা করবে অসৎ নারী থেকে, ব্যাভিচারিনীর স্বছন্দ শব্দ থেকে।
25 Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
২৫তুমি হৃদয়ে ওর সৌন্দর্য্যে লালসিত হয়ো না এবং ওর চাহনিতে ধরা পড় না।
26 For by means of an harlot a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
২৬একজন বেশ্যার সঙ্গে শোয়ার মূল্য একবেলা খাবারের দামের সমান হতে পারে, কিন্তু পরের স্ত্রী [মানুষের] মহামূল্য প্রাণ শিকার করে।
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
২৭কেউ যদি বুকের মধ্যে আগুন রাখে, তবে তার কাপড় কি পুড়ে যাবে না?
28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
২৮কেউ যদি জ্বলন্ত আগুনের উপর দিয়ে চলে, তবে তার পায়ের তলা কি পুড়ে যাবে না?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
২৯সেরকম যে প্রতিবেশীর স্ত্রীর কাছে যায়; যে কারোর তার সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক থাকে, সে অদন্ডিত হয়ে যাবে না।
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he stealeth to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
৩০যখন সে ক্ষুধার্ত থাকে তার প্রয়োজনীয়তা মেটাবার জন্য যদি সে চুরি করে, লোকেরা সেই চোরকে অবজ্ঞা করে না।
31 But if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
৩১কিন্তু যদি সে ধরা পড়ে, সে সাত গুণ ফিরিয়ে দেবে যা সে চুরি করেছে, সে অবশ্যই তার বাড়ির সব মূল্য দেবে।
32 But whoever committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
৩২যে ব্যভিচার করে তার কোনো জ্ঞান নেই, সে তা করে নিজেকে ধ্বংস করে।
33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
৩৩সে আঘাত ও অবমাননা পাবে; তার দুর্নাম কখনও ঘুচবে না।
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
৩৪যেহেতু অন্তর্জ্বালা স্বামীর রাগ, প্রতিশোধের দিনের সে ক্ষমা করবে না;
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
৩৫সে কোন প্রকার প্রায়শ্চিত্ত গ্রাহ্য করবে না, অনেক ঘুষ দিলেও সন্মত হবে না।
