Proverbs 31
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
Detta är Konung Lemuels ord, den lära, som honom hans moder lärde.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
Ack! min utkorade; ack! du mins lifs son; ack! min önskade son.
3 Give not thy strength to women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
Låt icke qvinnor få dina förmågo, och gack icke de vägar, der Konungar förderfva sig på.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
O! icke Konungom, Lemuel; gif icke Konungom vin dricka, eller Förstom starka drycker;
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
Att de icke dricka, och förgäta rätthetena, och förvända de elända menniskors sak.
6 Give strong drink to him that is ready to perish, and wine to those that are of heavy hearts.
Gif starka drycker dem som förgöras skola, och vin bedröfvadom själom;
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Att de måga dricka, och förgäta sina vedermödo, och icke mer ihågkomma sin jämmer.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Låt din mun upp för de dumbar, och för allas deras sak, som förlåtne äro.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
Låt din mun upp, och döm rätt, och hämnas den elända och fattiga.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Hvilkom en dygdelig qvinna beskärd är, hon är mycket ädlare, än aldrakosteligaste perlor.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Hennes mans hjerta tör förlåta sig uppå henne, och bergning skall honom icke fattas.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Hon gör honom ljuft, och icke ledt, i alla sina lifsdagar.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Hon brukar sig på ull och lin, och arbetar gerna med sina händer.
14 She is like the merchant ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Hon är såsom ett köpmanskepp, som sina bergning fjerranefter hemtar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
Hon står om nattene upp, och gifver sitt husfolk mat, och sina tjenarinnor deras del.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Hon tänker på en åker, och köper honom; och planterar en vingård af sina händers frukt.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Hon gjordar sina länder fast, och stärker sina armar.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her lamp goeth not out by night.
Hon märker, hvar hennes handel kan hafva förkofring; hennes lykta utsläckes icke om nattena.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Hon räcker ut sina hand till rocken, och hennes finger fatta tenen.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Hon utsträcker sina händer till den fattiga, och räcker sina hand dem torftiga.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Hon fruktar icke sino huse för snö; ty hela hennes hus hafver dubbel kläder.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Hon gör sig täcken; hvitt silke, och purpur är hennes kläde.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Hennes man är prisad i portomen, när han sitter när landsens äldsta.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth waistbands to the merchant.
Hon gör en kjortel, och säljer honom; ett bälte får hon krämarenom.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Hennes prydning är, att hon renlig och flitig är; och framdeles skall hon le.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
Hon upplåter sin mun med vishet, och på hennes tungo är täckelig lära.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Hon ser till, huru det i hennes hus tillstår, och äter icke sitt bröd i lättja.
28 Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Hennes söner komma upp, och prisa henne saliga; hennes man lofvar henne.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Många döttrar samka rikedom; men du öfvergår dem alla.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Täckeligt och dägelig vara är intet; en qvinna, som Herran fruktar, den skall man lofva.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Hon skall rosad varda af sina händers frukt, och hennes gerningar skola lofva henne i portomen.
