Proverbs 3
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thy heart keep my commandments:
Mein Sohn, vergiß meine Lehre nicht, und dein Herz bewahre meine Gebote!
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Denn sie werden dir Verlängerung der Tage und Jahre des Lebens und viel Frieden bringen.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thy heart:
Gnade und Wahrheit werden dich nicht verlassen! Binde sie um deinen Hals, schreibe sie auf die Tafel deines Herzens,
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
so wirst du Gunst und Wohlgefallen erlangen in den Augen Gottes und der Menschen.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thy heart; and lean not to thy own understanding.
Vertraue auf den HERRN von ganzem Herzen und verlaß dich nicht auf deinen Verstand;
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
erkenne ihn auf allen deinen Wegen, so wird er deine Pfade ebnen.
7 Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Halte dich nicht selbst für weise; fürchte den HERRN und weiche vom Bösen!
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Das wird deinem Leib gesund sein und deine Gebeine erquicken!
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thy increase:
Ehre den HERRN mit deinem Gut und mit den Erstlingen all deines Einkommens,
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
so werden sich deine Scheunen mit Überfluß füllen und deine Keltern von Most überlaufen.
11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
Mein Sohn, verwünsche nicht die Züchtigung des HERRN und laß dich seine Strafe nicht verdrießen;
12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
denn welchen der HERR lieb hat, den züchtigt er, wie ein Vater den Sohn, dem er wohlwill.
13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
Wohl dem Menschen, der Weisheit findet, dem Menschen, der Verstand bekommt!
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain of it than fine gold.
Denn ihr Erwerb ist besser als Gelderwerb, und ihr Gewinn geht über feines Gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared to her.
Sie ist kostbarer als Perlen, und alle deine Schätze sind ihr nicht zu vergleichen.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
In ihrer Rechten ist langes Leben, in ihrer Linken Reichtum und Ehre.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
Ihre Wege sind liebliche Wege und alle ihre Pfade Frieden.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Sie ist ein Baum des Lebens denen, die sie ergreifen; und wer sie festhält, ist glücklich zu preisen.
19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Der HERR hat die Erde mit Weisheit gegründet und die Himmel mit Verstand befestigt.
20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Durch seine Erkenntnis brachen die Fluten hervor und träufelten die Wolken Tau.
21 My son, let not them depart from thy eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Solches, mein Sohn, laß niemals aus den Augen; bewahre Überlegung und Besonnenheit!
22 So shall they be life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
Sie werden deiner Seele zum Leben dienen und zum Schmuck deinem Hals.
23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
Dann wirst du sicher deines Weges gehen, und dein Fuß stößt nicht an.
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: but, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Ohne Furcht wirst du dich niederlegen, und liegst du, so wird dein Schlaf süß sein.
25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
Du brauchst keinen plötzlichen Schrecken zu fürchten, auch nicht den Untergang der Gottlosen, wenn er kommt.
26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Denn der HERR wird in deinem Herzen sein und deinen Fuß bewahren vor dem Fallstrick.
27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
Verweigere keinem Bedürftigen eine Wohltat, wenn es in deiner Hände Macht steht, sie zu erweisen!
28 Say not to thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
Sprich nicht zu deinem Nächsten: «Gehe hin und komme wieder; morgen will ich dir geben!» während du es doch hast.
29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
Ersinne nichts Böses wider deinen Nächsten, der arglos bei dir wohnt.
30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he hath done thee no harm.
Hadere mit keinem Menschen ohne Ursache, wenn er dir nichts Böses zugefügt hat.
31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
Sei nicht neidisch auf den Gewalttätigen und erwähle dir keinen seiner Wege!
32 For the perverse man is an abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
Denn der Verkehrte ist dem HERRN ein Greuel, aber mit Aufrichtigen ist er vertraut.
33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Der Fluch des HERRN ist im Hause des Gottlosen, aber die Wohnung der Gerechten segnet er.
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace to the lowly.
Wenn er der Spötter spottet, so gibt er den Demütigen Gnade.
35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
Die Weisen ererben Ehre, die Toren aber macht die Schande berühmt.
