1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

2 Let another man praise thee, and not thy own mouth; a stranger, and not thy own lips.
Nakamsunga nakipachat sangin, midang kipachat sah jon, chule nangle nang nakam sunga naki vahchoi sangin, hetkhahlou kholgam mi kivahchoi sah in.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath is heavier than both.
Songhi agih lheh in, neldi jong gihtah ahi. Hinlah mingol lunghanna hi neldi sanga jong gihjo nalai ahi.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
Lunghan hi giloutah ahin, lungsat in jong mi achup jin; hinlah thangthipna hi akhoh jon ahi.
5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Aguh a kingailut sangin, lhang phonga kiphosal aphajoi.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Gol phatah'a kon kimavona chu kitah jal ahin, melman eibeng chop vang kilhep lhahna ahibouve.
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Mihem aoi-vasa dingin khoiju jeng jong lohso nabep ahin, agilkilpa din vang an tuimopen jong alhum tobang ahi.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
Ain'a kon vahmangpa chu, abusunga kon lengmang vahcha tobang ahi.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
Thao le gimnamtui in mihem lungthim akipahsah jin, gim hesohna vang hin mihem lhagao athohlal sah jin ahi.
10 Thy own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Nagol hihen napagol hijongle nung sun hih in, hahsatnan nahin phah nikhon jong nasopipa in-a sunglha hih in; ajeh chu gam latah a um penpi sopi sang in, naicha um hengle kom aphachom joi.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Kachapa, chingthei jin kalungthim kipa sah jing in, chutileh eidoupa jeng jong kadonbut thei ding ahi.
12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for adulteress.
Hetkhah lou mikhat batsah nadinga kitung pa chu, aponsil kichom peh jenga! Hetphalou mi dinga, hitobang mihem chu akipehdoh jeng thei nadem!
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Jingkah matah-a thouva othong jejua, phatthei osam chun aheng akom agaosap joh ahibouve.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
Tanglouva nilhum keija gojuh hi, numei phunse tohbang bep ahi.
16 Whoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which betrayeth itself.
Hitobang numei phohtang theija chun, khohui geija aphotang jou ding ahin; akhutphang jet lam'a jong, thaotui akihamdoh thei ding ahi.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Thihchun thih mama anol hemthei bangin, mihem jong khat in khat akikhelsah thei ahi.
18 He that keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit of it: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
Koi hileh theiphung phut chan in aga aneh bangin, koi hileh apupa ngaichat jouse hethem chu, mi jabolna achang teijin ahi.
19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
Twichung ivet teng mihem eima mai akilahdoh ji bangin, mihem kiti jong hi alungthim in aphondohji ahi.
20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
Thina le thilse in bei tih aneilou bang chun mihem mit teni jeng jong thil vet achim joupoi. (Sheol h7585)
21 As the refining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
Khangbel hi dangka lhahtheng na ding ahin, thuh khuh jong hi sana sonjolna'a kimang ahi; hijeh achu mihem jeng jong pachatna dinmun'a aum laitah a bou patepna changji ahi.
22 Though thou shouldest crush a fool in a mortar among grain with a pestle, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
Mingol chu lhengkong sunga suhdun changbong toh goitha jongleh chun, angolna laitah chu amatahsa'a kon potdoh dehlou ding ahi.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Nakelngoi honte umchan hethem jingin, chule nabong honte jeng jong phaten vephan;
24 For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
Ajeh chu haona hi tonsotna ding ahipon, lallukhuh jong hi akhang khang ding um hinam?
25 The plant appeareth, and the tender grass showeth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
Hampa apul chaisoh tengleh ana ahung noudoh kit jin, chule molchunga hampa louhing jouse jong kichom khomji ahi.
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
Nakelngoi teovin ponsil ding natopeh diu, chule nakelchateu vin jong loumun khat man natopeh diu ahi.
27 And thou shalt have goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for maintenance for thy maidens.
Nadon khopset kelcha noitwi tatlouva um jing ding, chule na in-sung vahna dingle nalhacha nungah ho vahna dia jong lhingset ding ahi.
