Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart belong to man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
Los planes del corazón pertenecen al hombre, pero la respuesta de la lengua es de Yahvé.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios ante sus propios ojos, pero Yahvé sopesa los motivos.
3 Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Encomienda tus obras a Yahvé, y tus planes tendrán éxito.
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Yahvé ha hecho todo para su propio fin. sí, incluso los malvados para el día del mal.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Todo el que es orgulloso de corazón es una abominación para Yahvé; ciertamente no quedarán impunes.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Por la misericordia y la verdad se expía la iniquidad. Por el temor a Yahvé los hombres se apartan del mal.
7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Cuando los caminos del hombre agradan a Yahvé, hace que hasta sus enemigos estén en paz con él.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
Mejor es un poco con la justicia, que los grandes ingresos con la injusticia.
9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
El corazón del hombre planea su curso, pero Yahvé dirige sus pasos.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
Los juicios inspirados están en los labios del rey. No traicionará su boca.
11 A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Las balanzas y los platillos honestos son de Yahvé; todos los pesos de la bolsa son obra suya.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
Es una abominación que los reyes hagan el mal, porque el trono se establece por la justicia.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
Los labios justos son la delicia de los reyes. Valoran a quien dice la verdad.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
La ira del rey es un mensajero de la muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo apaciguará.
15 In the light of a king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
En la luz del rostro del rey está la vida. Su favor es como una nube de la lluvia de primavera.
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
¡Cuánto mejor es conseguir sabiduría que oro! Sí, conseguir la comprensión es ser elegido más que la plata.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal. El que guarda su camino preserva su alma.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
La soberbia precede a la destrucción, y un espíritu arrogante antes de una caída.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Es mejor tener un espíritu humilde con los pobres, que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
El que presta atención a la Palabra encuentra la prosperidad. Quien confía en Yahvé es bendecido.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Los sabios de corazón serán llamados prudentes. El placer de los labios favorece la instrucción.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
La comprensión es una fuente de vida para quien la tiene, pero el castigo de los tontos es su locura.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
El corazón del sabio instruye a su boca, y añade el aprendizaje a sus labios.
24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Las palabras agradables son un panal, dulce para el alma, y salud para los huesos.
25 There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it is the way of death.
Hay un camino que le parece correcto al hombre, pero al final lleva a la muerte.
26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
El apetito del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca le urge.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
Un hombre sin valor trama una travesura. Su discurso es como un fuego abrasador.
28 A perverse man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
El hombre perverso suscita conflictos. Un susurrador separa a los amigos cercanos.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo, y lo lleva por un camino que no es bueno.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise perverse things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
El que guiña los ojos para tramar perversidades, el que comprime sus labios, está empeñado en el mal.
31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.
Las canas son una corona de gloria. Se consigue con una vida de rectitud.
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
El que es lento para la ira es mejor que el poderoso; el que gobierna su espíritu, que el que toma una ciudad.
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but its whole disposing is from the LORD.
La suerte está echada, pero todas sus decisiones provienen de Yahvé.
