Proverbs 13
1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
೧ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಮಗನು ತಂದೆಯ ನೀತಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವನು, ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕನೋ ಗದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳನು.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
೨ಬಾಯಿಯ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಸುಖವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವನು, ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರವೇ ದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳ ಕೋರಿಕೆ.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
೩ಬಾಯನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವವನು ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಾನೆ, ತುಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದುಬಿಡುವವನು ನಾಶವಾಗುವನು.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
೪ಸೋಮಾರಿಯ ಆಶೆಯು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ, ಉದ್ಯೋಗಿಯ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಪುಷ್ಟಿ.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
೫ಶಿಷ್ಟನು ಮೋಸಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಟ್ಟು ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾರನು, ದುಷ್ಟನ ನಡತೆಯು ಹೇಸಿಕೆಗೂ, ನಾಚಿಕೆಗೂ ಆಸ್ಪದ.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
೬ಧರ್ಮವು ನಿರ್ದೋಷಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವುದು, ಅಧರ್ಮವು ದೋಷಿಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡುವುದು.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
೭ಒಬ್ಬನು ಧನವನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದರೂ, ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದ ದರಿದ್ರನ ಹಾಗೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಧನವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ವೆಚ್ಚಮಾಡಿ ಬಡವನಾದರೂ, ಬಹು ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನ ಹಾಗೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
೮ಧನವಂತನ ಪ್ರಾಣರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಅವನ ಧನವೇ ಕ್ರಯ, ಬಡವನಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಬೆದರಿಕೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
೯ಶಿಷ್ಟರ ಬೆಳಕು ಬೆಳಗುವುದು, ದುಷ್ಟರ ದೀಪವು ಆರುವುದು.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
೧೦ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಫಲವು ಕಲಹವೇ, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
೧೧ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಕ್ಷಯಿಸುವುದು, ದುಡಿದು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವನಿಗೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುವುದು.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
೧೨ಕೋರಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತಡವಾದರೆ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಬಳಲುವುದು, ಕೈಗೂಡಿದ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥವು ಜೀವವೃಕ್ಷವು.
13 Whoever despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
೧೩ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲಂಘಿಸುವವನು ನಾಶವಾಗುವನು, ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಸಫಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
೧೪ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಬೋಧನೆ ಜೀವದ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ, ಅದನ್ನಾಲಿಸುವವನು ಮೃತ್ಯುಪಾಶದಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
೧೫ಸುಬುದ್ಧಿಯು ದಯಾಸ್ಪದವು, ದ್ರೋಹಿಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವು ನಾಶಕರ.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
೧೬ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಜಾಣನು ತನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನಡೆಸುವನು, ಮೂಢನು ತನ್ನ ಮೂರ್ಖತನವನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸುವನು.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
೧೭ಕೆಟ್ಟ ದೂತನು ಕೇಡಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುವನು, ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ರಾಯಭಾರಿಯು ಕ್ಷೇಮದಾಯಕನು.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
೧೮ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಬಡತನ ಮತ್ತು ಅವಮಾನ, ಗದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಮಾನ.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
೧೯ಇಷ್ಟಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸಿಹಿ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಬಿಡುವುದು ಮೂಢರಿಗೆ ಕಹಿ.
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
೨೦ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಸಹವಾಸಿ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾಗುವನು, ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನರ ಒಡನಾಡಿ ಸಂಕಟಪಡುವನು.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be rewarded with prosperity.
೨೧ಅಮಂಗಳವು ಪಾಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವುದು, ಮಂಗಳವು ಸಜ್ಜನರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವಾಗುವುದು.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
೨೨ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನ ಆಸ್ತಿ ಸಂತತಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯ, ಪಾಪಿಯ ಸೊತ್ತು ಸಜ್ಜನರಿಗೆ ಗಂಟು.
23 Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for lack of judgment.
೨೩ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಬಂಜರು ಭೂಮಿಯೂ ಬಹು ಬೆಳೆಯನ್ನೀಯುವುದು, ಅನ್ಯಾಯದಿಂದ ಹಾಳಾದ ಸುದ್ದಿಯು ಉಂಟು.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him early.
೨೪ಬೆತ್ತ ಹಿಡಿಯದ ತಂದೆ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಶತ್ರು, ಸುಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವ ತಂದೆ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಮಿತ್ರ.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
೨೫ಶಿಷ್ಟನು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆತುಂಬಾ ಉಣ್ಣುವನು, ದುಷ್ಟನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಹಸಿದಿರುವುದು.
