< Numbers 24 >

1 And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
Afei, Balaam hunuu sɛ Awurade pɛ sɛ ɔhyira Israel. Yei enti, wankɔ abisa sɛdeɛ ɔtaa yɛ no. Na mmom, ɔtoo nʼani hwɛɛ ɛserɛ no so,
2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
hunuu sɛ Israelfoɔ mmusuakuo no abobɔ wɔn atenaeɛ. Afei, Onyankopɔn honhom baa ne so,
3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
na yei ne nkɔmhyɛ a ɔmaaeɛ: “Beor ba Balaam nkɔmhyɛ no nie; nkɔmhyɛ a ɛfiri ɔbarima a nʼani hunu adeɛ yie,
4 He hath said, who heard the words of God, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
deɛ ɔte Onyankopɔn asɛm; deɛ ɔhunu anisoadeɛ a ɛfiri Otumfoɔ hɔ; na ɔda fam, a nʼani gu so:
5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
“Ao Yakob, mo ntomadan yɛ fɛ, Ao Israel, mo afie yɛ ahomeka.
6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
“Ɛsam mʼanim te sɛ mmɛfuo, te sɛ nturo frɔmfrɔm wɔ asubɔnten ho. Wɔte sɛ pɛperɛ a Awurade adua, te sɛ ntweneduro a ɛbɛn nsuo ho.
7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
Wɔbɛnya nsuo bebree. Wɔn mma bɛnya deɛ ɛhia wɔn nyinaa. “Wɔn ɔhene bɛyɛ kɛse akyɛn Agag; wɔn ahennie bɛkorɔn.
8 God brought him forth from Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
“Onyankopɔn de wɔn firi Misraim aba; ɔtwee wɔn sɛ wiram nantwie. Ɔsɛe amanaman a wɔtia no nyinaa, ɔbubu wɔn nnompe mu asinasini, ɔto bɛmma wowɔ wɔn.
9 He crouched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall rouse him? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
Israel butu hɔ sɛ gyata; ɔte sɛ gyataburu, na hwan na ɔbɛtumi anyane no? “Ao Israel, nhyira nka obiara a ɔhyira wo, na nnome nka obiara a ɔdome wo.”
10 And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse my enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
Ɔhene Balak bo fuu Balaam. Ɔde Abufuo bɔɔ ne nsam guu ne so teaam sɛ, “Mefrɛɛ wo sɛ bɛdome, mʼatamfoɔ nanso woahyira wɔn mprɛnsa.
11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee to great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
Firi me so kɔ! Sane kɔ wo nkyi! Meyɛɛ mʼadwene sɛ anka mɛhyɛ wo animuonyam, nanso, Awurade de akame wo!”
12 And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not speak also to thy messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,
Balaam buaa no sɛ, “Wonkae asɛm a meka kyerɛɛ wʼasomafoɔ no? Mekaa sɛ,
13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of my own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
‘Sɛ Balak ma me ahemfie a wɔde dwetɛ ne sikakɔkɔɔ ahyɛ hɔ ma koraa a, menni tumi sɛ mɛyɛ biribi atia Awurade apɛdeɛ.’ Meka kyerɛɛ wo sɛ asɛm a Awurade aka no nko ara na mɛka.
14 And now, behold, I go to my people: come therefore, I will advise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
Afei, meresane akɔ me nkurɔfoɔ nkyɛn. Nanso, deɛ ɛdi ɛkan no, ma menka deɛ Israelfoɔ no bɛyɛ wo nkurɔfoɔ daakye no nkyerɛ wo.”
15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
Yei ne nkɔmhyɛ a Balaam de maeɛ: “Beor ba Balaam nkɔmhyɛ no nie; nkɔmhyɛ a ɛfiri ɔbarima a nʼani hunu adeɛ yie,
16 He hath said, who heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
deɛ ɔte Onyankopɔn asɛm; deɛ ɔwɔ nyansa a ɛfiri Ɔsorosoroni no deɛ ɔhunu anisoadeɛ a ɛfiri Otumfoɔ hɔ; na ɔda fam, a nʼani gu so:
17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not near: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
“Mɛhunu no, nanso ɛnyɛ seesei; mehwɛ no wɔ daakye akyirikyiri. Nsoromma bɛpue afiri Yakob mu! Ahempoma bɛfiri Israel mu. Ɔbɛyam Moabfoɔ tiri, na wapaapae Moab mma tikwankora.
18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
Wɔbɛfa Edom, na Seir a ɔyɛ ne ɔtamfoɔ no, wɔbɛdi ne so nkonim, na Israel bɛkɔ so adi nkonim.
19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
Ɔhene bi bɛsɔre wɔ Yakob mu ɔno na ɔbɛsɛe Ir nkaeɛfoɔ.”
20 And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he shall perish for ever.
Afei, Balaam hwɛɛ Amalekfoɔ fie hyɛɛ nkɔm sɛ, “Amalek na na ɛyɛ aman nyinaa abakan, nanso ne hyɛberɛ ne ɔsɛeɛ!”
21 And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
Afei, ɔhwɛɛ Kenifoɔ hyɛɛ nkɔm sɛ, “Mo atenaeɛ yɛ pa ara, wanwono mo pirebuo wɔ abotan mu.
22 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
Nanso, wɔbɛsɛe Kenifoɔ ɛberɛ a Asurhene afa mo nnomum.”
23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
Nsɛm a ɔde wiee ne nkɔmhyɛ no ne sɛ: “Aa, sɛ Onyankopɔn yɛ sei a, hwan na ɔbɛtena nkwa mu?
24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
Ahyɛn bɛfiri Kipro mpoano aba Na abɛka Eber ne Asur ahyɛ. Nanso wɔn nso, wɔbɛsɛe wɔn pasaa.”
25 And Balaam arose, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
