Nehemiah 5
1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
ತರುವಾಯ ಜನರೂ, ಅವರ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಬಹಳ ಗೋಳಾಡ ತೊಡಗಿದರು.
2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up grain for them, that we may eat, and live.
ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು, “ನಾವೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರರೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರೂ ಅನೇಕರಾದುದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಬದುಕುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಧಾನ್ಯವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ,” ಎಂದರು.
3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy grain, because of the famine.
ಕೆಲವರು, “ಈ ಬರಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಧಾನ್ಯ ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೊಲಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒತ್ತೆ ಇಟ್ಟೆವು,” ಎಂದರು.
4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tax, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರು, “ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ತೆರಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲು ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಹೊಲಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಸಾಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಯಿತು.
5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought to bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಒಂದೇ ರಕ್ತಮಾಂಸದವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಆದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಗುಲಾಮರಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಆಗಲೇ ಗುಲಾಮರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಲು ನಮಗೆ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೊಲಗಳೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ತೋಟಗಳೂ ಪರರ ಪಾಲಾಗಿವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
ಅವರ ಕೂಗನ್ನೂ, ಈ ಆರೋಪಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ಕೇಳಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕೋಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡೆನು.
7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, Ye exact interest, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
ನಾನು ತುಸು ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದೆ. ಬಳಿಕ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರನ್ನೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಖಂಡಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಿಂದ ಬಡ್ಡಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಸರಿಯೇ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ವಾಗ್ವಾದಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಮಹಾ ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.
8 And I said to them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, who were sold to the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold to us? Then they held their peace, and found nothing to answer.
“ಇತರ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಗುಲಾಮರಾಗಿ ಮಾರಟವಾಗಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಾದ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನು ನಾವು ನಮಗೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿದ್ದಷ್ಟು ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನೇ ಮಾರಿಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೇನು?” ಎಂದೆನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಲು ಏನೂ ಸಿಗದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರು ಮೌನವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
9 Also I said, That is not good which ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ. ಇತರ ದೇಶದವರಾದ ನಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ನಿಂದೆಗೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಭಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೇ.
10 I likewise, my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and grain: I pray you, let us stop charging interest.
ನಾನು, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರು, ಸೇವಕರು ಸಹ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಣವನ್ನೂ, ಧಾನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಸಾಲವಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಬಡ್ಡಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡೋಣ.
11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
ಅವರ ಹೊಲ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟ, ಓಲಿವ್ ಎಣ್ಣೆಮರಗಳ ತೋಪು, ಮನೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡಿ; ನೀವು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಣ, ಧಾನ್ಯ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸ, ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಶೇಕಡಾ ಇಷ್ಟೆಂದು ವಸೂಲಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಹಕ್ಕನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಈ ದಿನವೇ ರದ್ದುಗೊಳಿಸಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆ.
12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
ಅದಕ್ಕವರು, “ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅವರಿಂದ ಏನೂ ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು. ಆಗ ನಾನು ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, ಅವರು ಈ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡೆನು.
13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಝಾಡಿಸಿ, “ಈ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡದೆ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಮನೆಯಿಂದಲೂ, ಅವನ ಆಸ್ತಿಪಾಸ್ತಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಝಾಡಿಸಲಿ. ಅವನು ಇದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಝಾಡಿಸಿ, ಬರಿದಾಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದೆನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, “ಆಮೆನ್” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿದರು. ಜನರು ತಾವು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು.
14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನಾದ ಕಾಲ ಮೊದಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಅರಸನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷ ಮೊದಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಮೂವತ್ತೆರಡನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದವರೆಗೆ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿ ನಾನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲತಕ್ಕ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನಲಿಲ್ಲ.
15 But the former governors that had been before me had laid a burden upon the people, and had taken of them food and wine, besides forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bore rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
ಆದರೆ ನನಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಇದ್ದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿನಾಣ್ಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಸೇವಕರು ಸಹ ಜನರ ಮೇಲೆ ದೊರೆತನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ದೇವರ ಭಯದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ನಾನು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered there to the work.
ಆ ಗೋಡೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದರಲ್ಲೇ ನಿರತನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಆ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ನಾವು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
17 Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, besides those that came to us from among the heathen that were about us.
ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇರುವ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದವರೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೂ ನೂರ ಐವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ನನ್ನ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಊಟಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days an abundance of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I required not the food of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
ಪ್ರತಿದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಎತ್ತು, ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಆರು ಕುರಿಗಳು, ಕೋಳಿಗಳು, ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಸಕಲ ವಿಧವಾದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಜನರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದ್ದ ದಾಸತ್ವ ಭಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲತಕ್ಕ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಬೇಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
19 Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
“ನನ್ನ ದೇವರೇ, ನಾನು ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನನಗೆ ಒಳಿತನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದೆ.
