Matthew 16
1 The Pharisees also and the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven.
ফরিশী ও সদ্দূকীরা যীশুর কাছে এসে পরীক্ষা করার জন্য তাঁকে বলল যেন তিনি আকাশ থেকে তাদের কোনো চিহ্ন দেখান।
2 He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “যখন সন্ধ্যা আসে, তোমরা বলো, ‘আবহাওয়া মনোরম হবে, কারণ আকাশ লাল হয়েছে,’ আবার সকালবেলায় বলো,
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and threatening. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
‘আজ ঝড় হবে, কারণ আকাশ লাল ও মেঘাচ্ছন্ন হয়েছে।’ তোমরা আকাশের অবস্থা দেখে আবহাওয়ার ব্যাখ্যা করতে পারো, কিন্তু সময়ের চিহ্ন ব্যাখ্যা করতে পারো না।
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
এক দুষ্ট ও ব্যভিচারী প্রজন্ম অলৌকিক চিহ্ন খোঁজে কিন্তু যোনার চিহ্ন ছাড়া আর কিছুই তাদের দেওয়া হবে না।” তখন যীশু তাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেলেন।
5 And when his disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
তারা যখন সাগরের অপর পারে গেলেন, শিষ্যেরা রুটি সঙ্গে নিতে ভুলে গিয়েছিলেন।
6 Then Jesus said to them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
যীশু তাদের বললেন, “সতর্ক হও, ফরিশী ও সদ্দূকীদের খামির থেকে তোমরা সাবধান থেকো।”
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
তারা নিজেদের মধ্যে এ বিষয়ে আলোচনা করে বললেন, “আমরা রুটি আনিনি বলেই তিনি এরকম বলছেন।”
8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said to them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
তাদের আলোচনা বুঝতে পেরে যীশু জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “অল্পবিশ্বাসী তোমরা, রুটি নেই বলে কেন নিজেদের মধ্যে বিতর্ক করছ?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
তোমরা কি এখনও বুঝতে পারোনি? তোমাদের কি পাঁচটি রুটি ও পাঁচ হাজার মানুষের কথা মনে পড়ে না, তখন কত ঝুড়ি উদ্বৃত্ত তোমরা তুলে নিয়েছিলে?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
কিংবা সেই সাতটি রুটি ও চার হাজার মানুষ, কত ঝুড়ি তোমরা সংগ্রহ করেছিলে?
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spoke not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
আমি যে তোমাদের রুটির কথা বলিনি তা তোমরা বুঝতে পারোনি? তোমরা ফরিশী ও সদ্দূকীদের খামির থেকে সাবধান থেকো।”
12 Then they understood that he did not warn them against the leaven of bread, but against the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
তখন তারা বুঝতে পারলেন যে, তিনি তাদের রুটিতে ব্যবহৃত খামির থেকে সতর্ক থাকতে বলেননি, কিন্তু ফরিশী ও সদ্দূকীদের দেওয়া শিক্ষা থেকে সতর্ক থাকতে বলেছেন।
13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?
যীশু যখন কৈসরিয়া-ফিলিপী অঞ্চলে এলেন, তিনি তাঁর শিষ্যদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “মনুষ্যপুত্র কে, এ সম্বন্ধে লোকে কী বলে?”
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
তাঁরা উত্তর দিলেন, “কেউ কেউ বলে আপনি বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহন; অন্যেরা বলে এলিয়; আর কেউ কেউ বলে, যিরমিয় বা ভাববাদীদের মধ্যে কোনও একজন।”
15 He saith to them, But who say ye that I am?
“কিন্তু তোমরা কী বলো?” তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কী বলো, আমি কে?”
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
শিমোন পিতর উত্তর দিলেন, “আপনি সেই খ্রীষ্ট, জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরের পুত্র।”
17 And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “যোনার পুত্র শিমোন ধন্য তুমি, কারণ রক্তমাংসের কোনো মানুষ এ তোমার কাছে প্রকাশ করেনি, কিন্তু আমার স্বর্গস্থ পিতাই প্রকাশ করেছেন।
18 And I say also to thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
আর আমি তোমাকে বলি, তুমি পিতর, আর আমি এই পাথরের উপরে আমার মণ্ডলী নির্মাণ করব। আর পাতালের দ্বারসকল এর বিপক্ষে জয়ী হতে পারবে না। (Hadēs g86)
19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
আমি তোমাকে স্বর্গরাজ্যের চাবি দেব; তোমরা পৃথিবীতে যা আবদ্ধ করবে তা স্বর্গেও আবদ্ধ হবে এবং পৃথিবীতে যা কিছু মুক্ত করবে তা স্বর্গেও মুক্ত হবে।”
20 Then he charged his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
তারপর তিনি তাঁর শিষ্যদের সতর্ক করে বলে দিলেন, তিনি যে খ্রীষ্ট একথা তাঁরা যেন কাউকে না বলেন।
21 From that time forth Jesus began to show to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
সেই সময় থেকে যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের কাছে স্পষ্টরূপে বলতে লাগলেন যে, তাঁকে অবশ্যই জেরুশালেমে যেতে হবে। সেখানে তাঁকে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে দুঃখভোগ করতে হবে; প্রাচীনবর্গ, মহাযাজকবৃন্দ ও শাস্ত্রবিদরা তাঁকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে। তাঁকে হত্যা করা হবে এবং তৃতীয় দিনে তাঁর পুনরুত্থান হবে।
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be to thee.
পিতর তাঁকে এক পাশে নিয়ে গিয়ে অনুযোগ করে বললেন, “প্রভু, তা নয়! এরকম আপনার প্রতি কখনও ঘটবে না!”
23 But he turned, and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things that are of God, but those that are of men.
যীশু ফিরে পিতরকে বললেন, “দূর হও শয়তান! তুমি আমার কাছে এক বাধাস্বরূপ; তোমার মনে ঈশ্বরের বিষয়গুলি নেই কেবল মানুষের বিষয়গুলিই আছে।”
24 Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
তারপর যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের বললেন, “কেউ যদি আমাকে অনুসরণ করতে চায়, সে অবশ্যই নিজেকে অস্বীকার করবে, তার ক্রুশ তুলে নেবে ও আমাকে অনুসরণ করবে।
25 For whoever will save his life shall lose it: and whoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
কারণ যে কেউ তার প্রাণরক্ষা করতে চায় সে তা হারাবে, কিন্তু কেউ যদি আমার কারণে তার প্রাণ হারায় সে তা লাভ করবে।
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
কেউ যদি সমস্ত জগতের অধিকার লাভ করে ও তার নিজের প্রাণ হারায়, তাহলে তার কী লাভ হবে? কিংবা কোনো মানুষ তার প্রাণের বিনিময়ে আর কী দিতে পারে?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
কারণ মনুষ্যপুত্র তাঁর দূতদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে নিজ পিতার মহিমায় ফিরে আসবেন, তখন তিনি প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিকে তার কাজ অনুসারে ফল দেবেন।
28 Verily I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they shall see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
“আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, যারা এখানে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ, যতদিন না মনুষ্যপুত্রকে তাঁর রাজ্যে আসতে দেখবে ততদিন পর্যন্ত মৃত্যুর আস্বাদ পাবে না।”
