Matthew 13
1 The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
সেইদিনই যীশু বাড়ি থেকে বের হয়ে সাগরের তীরে গিয়ে বসলেন।
2 And great multitudes were gathered together to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
তাঁর চারপাশে এত লোক সমবেত হল যে তিনি একটি নৌকায় উঠলেন ও তার উপরে বসলেন। সব লোক তীরে দাঁড়িয়ে রইল।
3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
তখন তিনি রূপকের মাধ্যমে তাদের অনেক কথা বলতে লাগলেন। তিনি বললেন, “একজন কৃষক তার বীজবপন করতে গেল।
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them:
সে যখন বীজ ছড়াচ্ছিল, কিছু বীজ পথের ধারে পড়ল, আর পাখিরা এসে তা খেয়ে ফেলল।
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and immediately they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
কিছু বীজ পাথুরে জমিতে পড়ল, যেখানে মাটি গভীর ছিল না। মাটি অগভীর থাকাতে সেগুলো দ্রুত অঙ্কুরিত হল,
6 And when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
কিন্তু যখন সূর্য উঠল চারাগুলি ঝলসে গেল এবং মূল না থাকাতে সেগুলি শুকিয়ে গেল।
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
অন্য কিছু বীজ পড়ল কাঁটাঝোপের মধ্যে। সেগুলি বৃদ্ধি পেলে কাঁটাঝোপ তাদের চেপে রাখল।
8 But others fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
তবুও কিছু বীজ উৎকৃষ্ট জমিতে পড়ল ও ফসল উৎপন্ন করল—যা বপন করা হয়েছিল তার শতগুণ, ষাটগুণ বা ত্রিশগুণ পর্যন্ত।
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
যাদের কান আছে, তারা শুনুক।”
10 And the disciples came, and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables?
শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আপনি লোকদের কাছে রূপকের মাধ্যমে কথা বলছেন কেন?”
11 He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
উত্তরে তিনি বললেন, “স্বর্গরাজ্যের গুপ্তরহস্য তোমাদের জানতে দেওয়া হয়েছে, তাদেরকে নয়।
12 For whoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.
যার কাছে আছে, তাকে আরও দেওয়া হবে ও তার অনেক হবে। যার কাছে নেই, তার কাছে যা আছে, তাও তার কাছ থেকে কেড়ে নেওয়া হবে।
13 Therefore I speak to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
এই কারণে আমি তাদের কাছে রূপকের মাধ্যমে কথা বলছি: “‘যেন দেখেও তারা দেখতে না পায়, শুনেও তারা শুনতে বা বুঝতে না পায়।’
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
তাদের মধ্যেই যিশাইয়ের এই ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী পূর্ণ হয়েছে: “‘তোমরা সবসময়ই শুনতে থাকবে, কিন্তু কখনও বুঝতে পারবে না; তোমরা সবসময়ই দেখতে থাকবে, কিন্তু কখনও উপলব্ধি করবে না।
15 For this people’s heart has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
কারণ এই লোকেদের হৃদয় অনুভূতিহীন হয়েছে, তারা কদাচিৎ তাদের কান দিয়ে শোনে এবং তারা তাদের চোখ বন্ধ করেছে। অন্যথায়, তারা হয়তো তাদের চোখ দিয়ে দেখবে, তাদের কান দিয়ে শুনবে, তাদের মন দিয়ে বুঝবে ও ফিরে আসবে, যেন আমি তাদের আরোগ্য দান করি।’
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
কিন্তু ধন্য তোমাদের চোখ কারণ সেগুলি দেখতে পায় ও তোমাদের কান কারণ সেগুলি শুনতে পায়।
17 For verily I say to you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see the things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
কারণ আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, তোমরা যা দেখছ, বহু ভাববাদী ও ধার্মিক ব্যক্তি, তা দেখতে চেয়েছিলেন, কিন্তু তাঁরা তা দেখতে পাননি এবং তোমরা যা শুনছ, তাঁরা তা শুনতে চেয়েছিলেন, কিন্তু শুনতে পাননি।
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
“তাহলে শোনো, বীজবপকের রূপকের তাৎপর্য কী:
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way side.
যখন কেউ স্বর্গরাজ্যের বার্তা শোনে অথচ বোঝে না, তখন সেই পাপাত্মা এসে তার হৃদয়ে যা বপন করা হয়েছিল, তা হরণ করে নেয়। এ সেই বীজ, যা পথের ধারে বপন করা হয়েছিল।
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and immediately with joy receiveth it;
আর পাথুরে জমিতে বপন করা বীজের সম্বন্ধে বলা হয়েছে, যে বাক্য শোনামাত্র তা সানন্দে গ্রহণ করে,
21 Yet he hath not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, immediately he is offended.
কিন্তু যেহেতু তার অন্তরে মূল নেই, সে অল্পকালমাত্র স্থির থাকে। আর বাক্যের কারণে যখন কষ্ট বা অত্যাচার আসে, সে দ্রুত পিছিয়ে যায়।
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
আর যে বীজ কাঁটাঝোপে বপন করা হয়েছিল, সে সেই মানুষ যে বাক্য শোনে কিন্তু এই জীবনের সব দুশ্চিন্তা ও ধনসম্পদের প্রতারণা তা চেপে রাখে, এতে তা ফলহীন হয়। (aiōn g165)
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
কিন্তু উৎকৃষ্ট জমিতে যে বীজবপন করা হয়েছিল, সে সেই ব্যক্তি যে বাক্য শোনে ও তা বোঝে। যা বপন করা হয়েছিল সে তার শতগুণ, ষাটগুণ বা ত্রিশগুণ ফসল উৎপন্ন করে।”
24 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field:
যীশু তাদের আর একটি রূপকের কথা বললেন: “স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন একজন মানুষের মতো, যিনি তার মাঠে উৎকৃষ্ট বীজবপন করলেন।
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
কিন্তু সবাই যখন নিদ্রাচ্ছন্ন, তার শত্রুরা এসে গমের সঙ্গে শ্যামাঘাসেরও বীজবপন করে চলে গেল।
26 But when the blade had sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
পরে গম অঙ্কুরিত হয়ে যখন শিষ দেখা দিল, তখন শ্যামাঘাসও দেখা গেল।
27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? how then hath it tares?
“এতে সেই মনিবের দাসেরা তার কাছে এসে বলল, ‘মহাশয়, আপনি কি আপনার ক্ষেত্রে উৎকৃষ্ট বীজবপন করেননি? তাহলে এই শ্যামাঘাসগুলি কোথা থেকে এল?’
28 He said to them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said to him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
“‘কোনো শত্রু এরকম করেছে,’ তিনি উত্তর দিলেন। “দাসেরা তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, ‘আপনি কি চান, আমরা গিয়ে শ্যামাঘাসগুলি উপড়ে ফেলি?’
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
“‘না,’ তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, ‘কারণ শ্যামাঘাস উপড়ানোর সময়, তোমরা হয়তো তার সঙ্গে গমও শিকড়শুদ্ধ তুলে ফেলবে।
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
শস্য কাটার দিন পর্যন্ত উভয়কে একসঙ্গে বাড়তে দাও। সেই সময়ে, আমি শস্যচয়নকারীদের বলে দেব: প্রথমে শ্যামাঘাস সংগ্রহ করে পোড়াবার জন্য আঁটি বাঁধো; তারপরে গম সংগ্রহ করে আমার গোলাঘরে এনে মজুত করো।’”
31 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
তিনি তাদের অন্য একটি রূপক বললেন: “স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন একটি সর্ষে বীজের মতো, যা একজন ব্যক্তি নিয়ে তার মাঠে রোপণ করল।
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge on its branches.
যদিও সব বীজের মধ্যে ওই বীজ ক্ষুদ্রতম, তবুও তা যখন বৃদ্ধি পেল তা অন্য সব গাছপালাকে ছাড়িয়ে গেল ও একটি গাছে পরিণত হল। ফলে আকাশের পাখিরা এসে তার শাখাপ্রশাখায় বাসা বাঁধল।”
33 Another parable he spoke to them; The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
তিনি তাদের আরও একটি রূপক বললেন: “স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন খামিরের মতো, যা একজন স্ত্রীলোক তিন পাল্লা ময়দার সঙ্গে মেশালো, ফলে সমস্ত তালটিই ফেঁপে উঠল।”
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable he spoke not to them:
লোকেদের কাছে যীশু এই সমস্ত বিষয় রূপকের মাধ্যমে বললেন; রূপক ব্যবহার না করে তিনি তাদের কাছে কোনো কথাই বললেন না।
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
এভাবেই ভাববাদীর মাধ্যমে কথিত বচন পূর্ণ হল: “আমি রূপকের মাধ্যমে আমার মুখ খুলব, জগৎ সৃষ্টির লগ্ন থেকে গুপ্ত বিষয়গুলি আমি উচ্চারণ করব।”
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came to him, saying, Make known to us the meaning of the parable of the tares of the field.
এরপর তিনি সকলকে বিদায় দিয়ে ঘরে ঢুকলেন। তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে বললেন, “মাঠের শ্যামাঘাসের রূপকটি আমাদের কাছে ব্যাখ্যা করুন।”
37 He answered and said to them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “যিনি উৎকৃষ্ট বীজবপন করেন তিনি মনুষ্যপুত্র।
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
মাঠ হল জগৎ এবং উৎকৃষ্ট বীজ হল স্বর্গরাজ্যের সন্তানেরা। শ্যামাঘাস হল সেই পাপাত্মার সন্তানেরা।
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (aiōn g165)
আর যে শত্রু তাদের বপন করেছিল সে হল দিয়াবল। শস্য কাটার সময় হচ্ছে যুগের শেষ সময় এবং যাঁরা শস্য কাটবেন তাঁরা হলেন সব স্বর্গদূত। (aiōn g165)
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. (aiōn g165)
“যেমনভাবে শ্যামাঘাস উপড়ে ফেলে আগুনে পোড়ানো হয়েছিল যুগের শেষ সময়েও সেরকমই হবে। (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them who do iniquity;
মনুষ্যপুত্র তাঁর দূতদের পাঠাবেন। তাঁরা তাঁর রাজত্ব থেকে যা কিছু পাপের কারণস্বরূপ ও যারা অন্যায় আচরণ করে তাদের উৎখাত করবেন।
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
তাঁরা তাদের জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিকুণ্ডে নিক্ষেপ করবেন, যেখানে হবে কেবলই রোদন ও দন্তঘর্ষণ।
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
তখন ধার্মিকেরা তাদের পিতার রাজ্যে সূর্যের মতো দীপ্যমান হবে। যার কান আছে, সে শুনুক।
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hid in a field; which when a man hath found, he hideth, and from joy over it goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
“স্বর্গরাজ্য হল মাঠে লুকোনো ধনসম্পদের মতো। যখন কোনো মানুষ তার সন্ধান পায় সে পুনরায় তা লুকিয়ে রাখে। পরে আনন্দে সে গিয়ে সর্বস্ব বিক্রি করে ও মাঠটি কিনে নিল।
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant man, seeking fine pearls:
“আবার স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন এক বণিকের মতো, যে উৎকৃষ্ট সব মুক্তার অন্বেষণ করছিল।
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
যখন সে অমূল্য এক মুক্তার সন্ধান পেল সে ফিরে গিয়ে সর্বস্ব বিক্রি করে তা কিনে নিল।
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
“আবার স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন এক টানা-জালের মতো যা সাগরে নিক্ষেপ করা হলে সব ধরনের মাছ ধরা পড়ল।
48 Which, when it was full, they drew to the shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast away the bad.
জালটি পূর্ণ হলে জেলেরা তা টেনে তীরে তুলল। তারপর তারা বসে ভালো মাছগুলি ঝুড়িতে সংগ্রহ করল, কিন্তু মন্দগুলিকে ফেলে দিল।
49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn g165)
যুগের শেষ সময়ে এরকমই ঘটনা ঘটবে। স্বর্গদূতেরা এসে ধার্মিকদের মধ্যে থেকে দুষ্টদের পৃথক করবেন এবং (aiōn g165)
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
জ্বলন্ত অগ্নিকুণ্ডে তাদের নিক্ষেপ করবেন, যেখানে হবে কেবলই রোদন ও দন্তঘর্ষণ।”
51 Jesus saith to them, Have ye understood all these things? They say to him, Yea, Lord.
যীশু জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কি এসব বিষয় বুঝতে পেরেছ?” তারা উত্তর দিলেন, “হ্যাঁ।”
52 Then said he to them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a man that is an householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
তিনি তাদের বললেন, “এই কারণে স্বর্গরাজ্যের বিষয়ে শিক্ষাপ্রাপ্ত প্রত্যেক শাস্ত্রবিদ এমন এক গৃহস্থের মতো যিনি তার ভাণ্ডার থেকে নতুন ও পুরোনো, উভয় প্রকার সম্পদই বের করে থাকেন।”
53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from there.
যীশু যখন এসব রূপক বলা শেষ করলেন, তিনি সেখান থেকে অন্যত্র চলে গেলেন।
54 And when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, How hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
নিজ নগরে ফিরে এসে তিনি সমাজভবনে লোকদের শিক্ষা দিতে লাগলেন। এতে তারা আশ্চর্য হয়ে গেল। তারা প্রশ্ন করল, “এই লোকটি কোথা থেকে এমন জ্ঞান ও এই অলৌকিক ক্ষমতা পেল?
55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
এ কি সেই কাঠ মিস্ত্রির পুত্র নয়? এর মায়ের নাম কি মরিয়ম নয়? আর যাকোব, যোষেফ, শিমোন ও যিহূদা কি এর ভাই নয়?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? How then hath this man all these things?
এর বোনেরা কি আমাদের মধ্যে নেই? তাহলে ও কোথা থেকে এসব পেল?”
57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, except in his own country, and in his own house.
এভাবে তারা তাঁর প্রতি বিরূপ হয়ে উঠল। কিন্তু যীশু তাদের বললেন, “কেবলমাত্র নিজের দেশ ও নিজের পরিবারেই কোনো ভাববাদী সম্মান পান না।”
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
তাদের বিশ্বাসের অভাবে তিনি সেখানে বিশেষ আর অলৌকিক কাজ করলেন না।
