Mark 6
1 And he went out from there, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
যীশু সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করে তাঁর শিষ্যদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে নিজের নগরে গেলেন।
2 And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From where hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given to him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
বিশ্রামদিন উপস্থিত হলে তিনি সমাজভবনে শিক্ষা দিতে লাগলেন। তাঁর শ্রোতাদের অনেকেই এতে বিস্মিত হল। তারা প্রশ্ন করল, “এই লোকটি কোথা থেকে এমন জ্ঞান পেল? সে এসব অলৌকিক কাজ কীভাবে করছে?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
এ কি সেই ছুতোরমিস্ত্রি নয়? এ কি মরিয়মের পুত্র নয় এবং যাকোব, যোষি, যিহূদা ও শিমোনের দাদা নয়? ওর বোনেরাও কি এখানে আমাদের মধ্যে নেই?” তারা তাঁর উপরে বিরূপ হয়ে উঠল।
4 But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kindred, and in his own house.
যীশু তাদের বললেন, “নিজের নগরে আপনজনদের মধ্যে ও নিজের গৃহে ভাববাদী অসম্মানিত হন।”
5 And he could there do no mighty work, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick people, and healed them.
তিনি সেখানে আর কোনো অলৌকিক কাজ করতে পারলেন না, কেবলমাত্র কয়েকজন অসুস্থ ব্যক্তির উপরে হাত রাখলেন ও তাদের সুস্থ করলেন।
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went around the villages, teaching.
তাদের বিশ্বাসের অভাব দেখে তিনি অবাক হয়ে গেলেন। তারপর যীশু গ্রাম থেকে গ্রামান্তরে ঘুরে ঘুরে শিক্ষা দিতে লাগলেন।
7 And he calleth to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them authority over unclean spirits;
তিনি সেই বারোজনকে তাঁর কাছে ডেকে, দুজন দুজন করে তাঁদের পাঠালেন। তিনি তাঁদের অশুচি আত্মার উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করার ক্ষমতাও প্রদান করলেন।
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only; no bag, no bread, no money in their purse:
তাঁর নির্দেশগুলি ছিল এরকম: “যাত্রার উদ্দেশে একটি ছড়ি ছাড়া আর কিছুই সঙ্গে নিয়ো না—কোনো খাবার, কোনো থলি বা কোমরের বেল্টে কোনো অর্থও নয়।
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
চটিজুতো পরো, কিন্তু কোনো অতিরিক্ত পোশাক নিয়ো না।
10 And he said to them, In whatever place ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
কোনো বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করলে, সেই নগর পরিত্যাগ না করা পর্যন্ত তোমরা সেখানেই থেকো।
11 And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
আর কোনো স্থানের মানুষ যদি তোমাদের স্বাগত না জানায়, বা তোমাদের বাক্যে কর্ণপাত না করে, সেই স্থান ছেড়ে যাওয়ার সময় তাদের বিরুদ্ধে সাক্ষ্যস্বরূপ তোমাদের পায়ের ধুলো ঝেড়ে ফেলো।”
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
তাঁরা বেরিয়ে পড়লেন ও প্রচার করতে লাগলেন, যেন লোকেরা মন পরিবর্তন করে।
13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
তাঁরা বহু ভূত বিতাড়িত করলেন ও অনেক অসুস্থ মানুষকে তেল দিয়ে অভিষেক করে তাদের রোগনিরাময় করলেন।
14 And king Herod heard of him; ( for his name was spread abroad: ) and he said, That John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.
রাজা হেরোদ এ সম্পর্কে শুনতে পেলেন, কারণ যীশুর নাম সুপরিচিত হয়ে উঠেছিল। কেউ কেউ বলছিল, “বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহন মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত হয়েছেন, সেই কারণে এইসব অলৌকিক ক্ষমতা তাঁর মধ্যে সক্রিয় রয়েছে।”
15 Others said, That it is Elijah. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
অন্যেরা বলল, “তিনি এলিয়।” কিন্তু আরও অন্যেরা দাবি করল, “উনি একজন ভাববাদী, বা পুরাকালের ভাববাদীদের মতোই একজন।”
16 But when Herod heard of him, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he hath risen from the dead.
কিন্তু হেরোদ একথা শুনে বললেন, “যে যোহনের আমি মাথা কেটেছিলাম, তিনি মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত হয়েছেন!”
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.
কারণ হেরোদ স্বয়ং যোহনকে গ্রেপ্তার করার আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন এবং তাঁকে শিকলে বেঁধে কারাগারে বন্দি করেছিলেন। তাঁর ভাই ফিলিপের স্ত্রী হেরোদিয়ার জন্য তিনি এ কাজ করেছিলেন, কারণ তিনি তাকে বিবাহ করেছিলেন।
18 For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
এর কারণ হল, যোহন ক্রমাগত হেরোদকে বলতেন, “ভাইয়ের স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে সহবাস করা আপনার পক্ষে ন্যায়সংগত নয়।”
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
সেই কারণে, হেরোদিয়া যোহনের বিরুদ্ধে অসন্তোষ পোষণ করছিল ও তাঁকে হত্যা করতে চেয়েছিল। কিন্তু তার পক্ষে তা করা সম্ভব ছিল না।
20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
কারণ, হেরোদ যোহনকে ভয় করতেন এবং তিনি একজন ধার্মিক ও পবিত্র মানুষ জেনে তাঁকে সুরক্ষা দিতেন। হেরোদ যখন যোহনের কথা শুনলেন, তখন তিনি অত্যন্ত হতবুদ্ধি হয়ে পড়লেন, তবুও তিনি তাঁর কথা শুনতে ভালোবাসতেন।
21 And when a convenient day had come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief men of Galilee;
অবশেষে এক সুযোগ এসে গেল। হেরোদ তাঁর জন্মদিনে তাঁর উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মচারী, সেনাধক্ষ্য ও গালীলের নেতৃস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিদের জন্য এক ভোজসভার আয়োজন করলেন।
22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said to the girl, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
সেখানে হেরোদিয়ার মেয়ে এসে নৃত্য পরিবেশন করে হেরোদ ও ভোজে আগত অতিথিদের সন্তুষ্ট করল। রাজা সেই মেয়েকে বললেন, “তুমি যা খুশি আমার কাছে চাইতে পারো, আমি তা তোমাকে দেব।”
23 And he swore to her, Whatever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, to the half of my kingdom.
তিনি শপথ করে তাকে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন, “তুমি যা চাইবে, অর্ধেক রাজত্ব হলেও আমি তোমাকে তাই দেব।”
24 And she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
সে বাইরে গিয়ে তার মাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “আমি কী চাইব?” তার মা উত্তর দিল, “বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহনের মাথা।”
25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou shouldest give me immediately on a platter the head of John the Baptist.
মেয়েটি তখনই ভিতরে প্রবেশ করে রাজাকে তার অনুরোধ জানাল, “আমি চাই, আপনি একটি থালায় বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহনের মাথা এনে এখনই আমাকে দিন।”
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes who sat with him, he would not reject her.
রাজা অত্যন্ত মর্মাহত হলেন, কিন্তু তাঁর নিজের শপথের জন্য ও যাঁরা তাঁর সঙ্গে ভোজসভায় বসেছিলেন, তাঁদের জন্য তিনি তাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করতে চাইলেন না।
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
তিনি তক্ষুনি যোহনের মাথা কেটে নিয়ে আসার আদেশ দিয়ে একজন ঘাতককে পাঠালেন। লোকটি কারাগারে গিয়ে যোহনের মাথা কাটল।
28 And brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl: and the girl gave it to her mother.
সে থালায় করে তাঁর কাঁটা মাথা নিয়ে এল। তিনি তা নিয়ে সেই মেয়েটিকে দিলেন ও সে তা নিয়ে তার মাকে দিল।
29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his dead body, and laid it in a tomb.
একথা শুনে যোহনের শিষ্যেরা এসে তাঁর শরীর নিয়ে গেল ও কবরে শুইয়ে দিল।
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
প্রেরিতশিষ্যেরা যীশুর চারপাশে জড়ো হয়ে তাঁদের সমস্ত কাজ ও শিক্ষাদানের বিবরণ দিলেন।
31 And he said to them, Come ye yourselves aside into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
সেই সময় এত বেশি লোক সেখানে যাওয়া-আসা করছিল যে, তাঁরা খাবার খাওয়ারও সুযোগ পাচ্ছিলেন না। তিনি তাঁদের বললেন, “তোমরা আমার সঙ্গে কোনো নির্জন স্থানে চলো ও সেখানেই কিছু সময় বিশ্রাম করো।”
32 And they departed into a desert place in a boat by themselves.
তাই তাঁরা নিজেরাই নৌকায় করে এক নির্জন স্থানে গেলেন।
33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot there out of all cities, and went before them, and came together to him.
কিন্তু সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করার সময় বহু মানুষ তাঁদের চিনতে পারল। লোকেরা সব নগর থেকে দৌড়ে গিয়ে তাঁদের আগেই সেখানে উপস্থিত হল।
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
তীরে নেমে যীশু যখন অনেক লোককে দেখতে পেলেন, তিনি তাদের প্রতি করুণায় পূর্ণ হলেন। কারণ তারা ছিল পালকহীন মেষপালের মতো। তাই তিনি তাদের বহু বিষয়ে শিক্ষা দিতে লাগলেন।
35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
এসময় দিনের প্রায় অবসান হয়ে এল। তাই শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে বললেন, “এ এক নির্জন এলাকা, আর ইতিমধ্যে অনেক দেরিও হয়ে গেছে।
36 Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
লোকদের বিদায় দিন, যেন তারা কাছাকাছি গ্রাম বা পল্লিতে যেতে পারে ও নিজেদের জন্য কিছু খাবার কিনতে পারে।”
37 He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
কিন্তু প্রত্যুত্তরে তিনি বললেন, “তোমরা তাদের কিছু খেতে দাও।” তাঁরা তাঁকে বললেন, “এর জন্য ছয় মাসের বেতনের সমান পরিমাণ অর্থের প্রয়োজন হবে। আমরা কি গিয়ে অত পরিমাণ অর্থ ব্যয় করে রুটি কিনে লোকদের খেতে দেব?”
38 He saith to them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
তিনি তাঁদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমাদের কাছে কতগুলি রুটি আছে? যাও গিয়ে দেখো।” তারা খুঁজে দেখে বললেন, “পাঁচটি রুটি, আর দুটি মাছও আছে।”
39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
তখন যীশু লোকদের সবুজ ঘাসে দলে দলে বসাবার জন্য শিষ্যদের নির্দেশ দিলেন।
40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
তারা এক-একটা সারিতে একশো জন ও পঞ্চাশ জন করে বসে গেল।
41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes he divided among them all.
সেই পাঁচটি রুটি ও দুটি মাছ নিয়ে যীশু স্বর্গের দিকে দৃষ্টি দিলেন, ধন্যবাদ দিলেন ও রুটিগুলিকে ভাঙলেন। তারপর তিনি সেগুলি লোকদের পরিবেশন করার জন্য তাঁর শিষ্যদের হাতে তুলে দিলেন। তিনি সেই মাছ দুটিও সবার মধ্যে ভাগ করে দিলেন।
42 And they all ate, and were satisfied.
তারা সকলে খেয়ে পরিতৃপ্ত হল।
43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
আর শিষ্যেরা অবশিষ্ট রুটি ও মাছের টুকরো সংগ্রহ করে বারো ঝুড়ি পূর্ণ করলেন।
44 And they that ate of the loaves were about five thousand men.
যতজন পুরুষ খাবার খেয়েছিল, তাদের সংখ্যা ছিল পাঁচ হাজার।
45 And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go to the other side before to Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
পর মুহূর্তেই যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের নৌকায় তুলে দিয়ে তাঁর যাওয়ার আগেই তাঁদের বেথসৈদায় যেতে বললেন, ইতিমধ্যে তিনি সকলকে বিদায় দিলেন।
46 And when he had dismissed them, he departed to a mountain to pray.
তাঁদের বিদায় করে তিনি প্রার্থনা করার জন্য একটি পাহাড়ে উঠে গেলেন।
47 And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
সন্ধ্যা ঘনিয়ে এলে। নৌকা ছিল সাগরের মাঝখানে, কেবলমাত্র তিনি একা স্থলে ছিলেন।
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
তিনি দেখলেন, প্রতিকূল বাতাসে শিষ্যেরা অতিকষ্টে নৌকা বইছিল। রাত্রি চতুর্থ প্রহরে তিনি সাগরে, জলের উপরে হেঁটে শিষ্যদের কাছে চললেন। তিনি তাঁদের পাশ কাটিয়ে যেতে চাইলেন।
49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
কিন্তু তাঁকে সাগরের উপর দিয়ে হেঁটে যেতে দেখে তাঁরা তাঁকে কোনও ভূত মনে করলেন।
50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
তাঁরা চিৎকার করে উঠলেন, কারণ তাঁরা সবাই তাঁকে দেখে আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হয়ে পড়েছিলেন। তিনি তক্ষুনি তাঁদের সঙ্গে কথা বললেন। তিনি বললেন, “সাহস করো! এ আমি! ভয় পেয়ো না।”
51 And he went up to them into the boat; and the wind ceased: and they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
তারপর তিনি তাঁদের কাছে নৌকায় উঠলেন। বাতাস থেমে গেল। তাঁরা সম্পূর্ণরূপে বিস্মিত হলেন,
52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
কারণ তাঁরা সেই রুটির বিষয়ে কিছুই বুঝতে পারেননি, তাঁদের হৃদয় কঠিন হয়ে পড়েছিল।
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
তাঁরা সাগরের অপর পারে গিয়ে গিনেষরৎ প্রদেশে নৌকা থেকে নামলেন ও নৌকা নোঙর করলেন।
54 And when they had come out of the boat, immediately they knew him,
তাঁরা নৌকা থেকে নামা মাত্রই লোকেরা যীশুকে চিনতে পারল।
55 And ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
তারা সেখানকার সমগ্র অঞ্চলে ছুটে গেল এবং যেখানেই যীশু আছেন শুনতে পেল, তারা সেখানেই খাটে করে পীড়িতদের বয়ে নিয়ে এল।
56 And wherever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made well.
আর যেখানেই তিনি গেলেন—গ্রামে, নগরে বা পল্লি-অঞ্চলে—সেখানেই তারা পীড়িতদের বাজারের মধ্যে এনে রাখল। তারা মিনতি করল, তিনি যেন তাঁর পোশাকের আঁচলও তাদের স্পর্শ করতে দেন। আর যারাই তাঁকে স্পর্শ করল, তারা সবাই সুস্থ হল।
