Luke 9
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
Convocó a los doce y les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios y para curar enfermedades.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
Los envió a predicar el Reino de Dios y a curar a los enfermos.
3 And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staffs, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
Les dijo: “No tomen nada para su viaje: ni bastones, ni cartera, ni pan, ni dinero. Ni tengáis dos túnicas cada uno.
4 And whatever house ye enter into, there abide, and from there depart.
En cualquier casa en la que entréis, quedaos allí, y salid de allí.
5 And whoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
A todos los que no os reciban, cuando salgáis de esa ciudad, sacudid hasta el polvo de vuestros pies como testimonio contra ellos.”
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
Partieron y recorrieron las aldeas, predicando la Buena Nueva y sanando por todas partes.
7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said by some, that John had risen from the dead;
El tetrarca Herodes se enteró de todo lo que había hecho, y se quedó muy perplejo, porque unos decían que Juan había resucitado de entre los muertos,
8 And by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the ancient prophets had risen again.
y otros que Elías había aparecido, y otros que uno de los antiguos profetas había resucitado.
9 And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
Herodes dijo: “Yo decapité a Juan, pero ¿quién es éste del que oigo tales cosas?” Buscó verlo.
10 And the apostles, when they had returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
Los apóstoles, al regresar, le contaron lo que habían hecho. Los tomó y se retiró a una región desierta de una ciudad llamada Betsaida.
11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
Pero las multitudes, al darse cuenta, le siguieron. Él los acogió, les habló del Reino de Dios y curó a los que necesitaban curación.
12 And when the day began to decline, then came the twelve, and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge, and get food: for we are here in a deserted place.
Empezaba a declinar el día, y los doce se acercaron y le dijeron: “Despide a la multitud para que vaya a las aldeas y granjas de los alrededores y se aloje y consiga comida, porque estamos aquí en un lugar desierto.”
13 But he said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy food for all this people.
Pero él les dijo: “Dadles vosotros de comer”. Dijeron: “No tenemos más que cinco panes y dos peces, si no vamos a comprar comida para toda esta gente.”
14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
Porque eran unos cinco mil hombres. Dijo a sus discípulos: “Haced que se sienten en grupos de unos cincuenta cada uno”.
15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
Así lo hicieron, y los hizo sentar a todos.
16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
Tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces y, mirando al cielo, los bendijo, los partió y los dio a los discípulos para que los pusieran delante de la multitud.
17 And they ate, and were all satisfied: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
Comieron y se saciaron. Recogieron doce cestas con los trozos que habían sobrado.
18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Who say the people that I am?
Mientras oraba a solas, los discípulos estaban cerca de él y les preguntó: “¿Quién dicen las multitudes que soy yo?”
19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
Ellos respondieron: “Juan el Bautista”, pero otros dicen: “Elías”, y otros, que uno de los antiguos profetas ha resucitado”.
20 He said to them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
Les dijo: “¿Pero quién decís que soy yo?”. Pedro respondió: “El Cristo de Dios”.
21 And he strictly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
Pero les advirtió y les ordenó que no contaran esto a nadie,
22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
diciendo: “Es necesario que el Hijo del Hombre padezca muchas cosas, y que sea rechazado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, y que sea muerto, y al tercer día resucite.”
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Dijo a todos: “Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
24 For whoever will save his life shall lose it: but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por mí, la salvará.
25 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
Porque ¿de qué le sirve al hombre ganar el mundo entero, si se pierde o pierde a sí mismo?
26 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in that of his Father, and of the holy angels.
Porque el que se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras, de él se avergonzará el Hijo del Hombre cuando venga en su gloria, y la gloria del Padre y de los santos ángeles.
27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Pero os digo la verdad: hay algunos de los que están aquí que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el Reino de Dios.”
28 And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up upon a mountain to pray.
Unos ocho días después de estas palabras, tomó consigo a Pedro, Juan y Santiago, y subió al monte a orar.
29 And as he prayed, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and shining.
Mientras oraba, el aspecto de su rostro se alteró, y su ropa se volvió blanca y deslumbrante.
30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah:
He aquí que dos hombres hablaban con él, que eran Moisés y Elías,
31 Who appeared in glory, and spoke of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
los cuales aparecieron en gloria y hablaron de su partida, que iba a cumplir en Jerusalén.
32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
Pedro y los que estaban con él estaban agobiados por el sueño, pero cuando se despertaron del todo, vieron su gloria y a los dos hombres que estaban con él.
33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.
Cuando se separaban de él, Pedro dijo a Jesús: “Maestro, es bueno que estemos aquí. Hagamos tres tiendas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías”, sin saber lo que decía.
34 While he was thus speaking, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
Mientras decía estas cosas, vino una nube y los cubrió, y tuvieron miedo al entrar en la nube.
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
De la nube salió una voz que decía: “Este es mi Hijo amado. Escuchadle”.
36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
Cuando llegó la voz, Jesús se encontró solo. Ellos guardaron silencio y no contaron a nadie en aquellos días nada de lo que habían visto.
37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, many people met him.
Al día siguiente, cuando bajaron del monte, le salió al encuentro una gran multitud.
38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is my only child.
He aquí que un hombre de la muchedumbre gritó diciendo: “Maestro, te ruego que mires a mi hijo, porque es mi único hijo nacido.
39 And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.
He aquí que un espíritu se apodera de él, grita repentinamente y lo convulsiona de tal manera que hace espuma; y apenas se aparta de él, lo hiere gravemente.
40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.
He rogado a tus discípulos que lo expulsen, y no han podido”.
41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and put up with you? Bring thy son here.
Jesús respondió: “Generación incrédula y perversa, ¿hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros y os soportaré? Traed a vuestro hijo”.
42 And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
Mientras se acercaba, el demonio lo arrojó al suelo y lo convulsionó violentamente. Pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu impuro, curó al muchacho y se lo devolvió a su padre.
43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they were all amazed at all things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,
Todos estaban asombrados de la majestad de Dios. Pero mientras todos se maravillaban de todas las cosas que Jesús hacía, dijo a sus discípulos:
44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
“Que estas palabras se os graben en los oídos, porque el Hijo del Hombre será entregado en manos de los hombres.”
45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him concerning that saying.
Pero ellos no entendieron este dicho. Se les ocultó, para que no lo percibieran, y tuvieron miedo de preguntarle sobre este dicho.
46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
Se suscitó una discusión entre ellos acerca de cuál de ellos era el más grande.
47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,
Jesús, percibiendo el razonamiento de sus corazones, tomó un niño pequeño y lo puso a su lado,
48 And said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.
y les dijo: “El que recibe a este niño en mi nombre, me recibe a mí. El que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me ha enviado. Porque el que sea más pequeño entre todos vosotros, éste será grande”.
49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
Juan respondió: “Maestro, vimos a alguien que expulsaba demonios en tu nombre, y se lo prohibimos, porque no sigue con nosotros.”
50 And Jesus said to him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
Jesús le dijo: “No se lo prohíbas, porque el que no está contra nosotros está a favor”.
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
Sucedió que, cuando se acercaban los días en que debía ser llevado, se propuso intensamente ir a Jerusalén
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
y envió mensajeros delante de él. Ellos fueron y entraron en una aldea de los samaritanos, para prepararse para él.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
No le recibieron, porque viajaba con el rostro puesto en Jerusalén.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?
Al ver esto, sus discípulos, Santiago y Juan, dijeron: “Señor, ¿quieres que mandemos bajar fuego del cielo y los destruyamos, como hizo Elías?”
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
Pero él se volvió y les reprendió: “No sabéis de qué espíritu sois.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
Porque el Hijo del Hombre no ha venido a destruir la vida de los hombres, sino a salvarla”. Fueron a otra aldea.
57 And it came to pass, that, as they were going in the way, a certain man said to him, Lord, I will follow thee wherever thou goest.
Mientras iban por el camino, un hombre le dijo: “Quiero seguirte dondequiera que vayas, Señor”.
58 And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath no where to lay his head.
Jesús le dijo: “Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo tienen nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde reclinar la cabeza”.
59 And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.
Le dijo a otro: “¡Sígueme!” Pero él dijo: “Señor, permíteme primero ir a enterrar a mi padre”.
60 Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
Pero Jesús le dijo: “Deja que los muertos entierren a sus propios muertos, pero tú ve a anunciar el Reino de Dios”.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go and bid them farewell, who are at my house.
Otro también dijo: “Quiero seguirte, Señor, pero primero permíteme despedirme de los que están en mi casa”.
62 And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Pero Jesús le dijo: “Nadie que ponga la mano en el arado y mire hacia atrás es apto para el Reino de Dios.”
