Luke 19
1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
Jésus étant entré dans Jéricho, le traversait.
2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the tax collectors, and he was rich.
Or il y avait un homme appelé Zachée; il était chef des publicains, et même fort riche.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because he was little of stature.
Et il cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, et il ne le pouvait, à cause de la foule, parce qu’il était très petit de taille.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up upon a sycamore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
Courant donc en avant, il monta sur un sycomore pour le voir, parce qu’il devait passer par là.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
Lorsqu’il arriva en cet endroit, Jésus leva les yeux, l’aperçut. et lui dit: Zachée, descends vite, parce qu’aujourd’hui il faut que je loge dans ta maison.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
Et il descendit à la hâte, et le reçut avec joie.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
Voyant cela, tous murmuraient disant qu’il était allé loger chez un homme pécheur.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
Mais se tenant devant le Seigneur, Zachée lui dit: Seigneur, voici que je donne la moitié de mes biens aux pauvres; et si j’ai fait tort à quelqu’un, je lui rends le quadruple.
9 And Jesus said to him, This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Jésus lui dit: Aujourd’hui cette maison a reçu le salut, parce que celui-ci aussi est enfant d’Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Car le Fils de l’homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
Comme ils écoutaient ces discours, il dit encore une parabole sur ce qu’il était près de Jérusalem, et sur ce qu’ils pensaient que le royaume de Dieu serait incontinent manifesté.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Il dit donc: Un homme de grande naissance s’en alla en un pays lointain pour prendre possession d’un royaume et revenir ensuite.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said to them, Occupy till I come.
Ainsi dix de ses serviteurs appelés, il leur donna dix mines, et leur dit: Négociez jusqu’à ce que je revienne.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
Or ceux de son pays le haïssaient; et ils envoyèrent après lui une députation, disant: Nous ne Avouions point que celui-ci règne sur nous.
15 And it came to pass, that when he had returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
Et il arriva qu’il revint, après avoir pris possession du royaume, et il fit appeler les serviteurs auxquels il avait donné de l’argent, pour savoir combien chacun l’avait négocié.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
Le premier vint, disant: Seigneur, votre mine a produit dix autres mines.
17 And he said to him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Il lui dit: Fort bien, bon serviteur, parce que tu as été fidèle en peu de choses, tu auras puissance sur dix villes.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
Un autre vint, et dit: Seigneur, votre mine a produit cinq autres mines.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Et il dit à celui-ci: Toi aussi, sois à la tête de cinq villes.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
Un autre vint, disant: Seigneur, voici votre mine que j’ai tenu enveloppée dans un linge,
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow.
Car je vous ai craint, parce que vous êtes un homme sévère: vous emportez ce que vous n’avez pas déposé, et moissonnez ce que vous n’avez pas semé.
22 And he saith to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow:
Le maître lui dit: C’est par ta propre bouche que je te juge, mauvais serviteur. Tu savais que je suis un homme sévère, emportant ce que je n’ai pas déposé, et moissonnant ce que je n’ai point semé.
23 Why then gavest thou not my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest?
Pourquoi donc n’as-tu pas donné mon argent à la banque, afin que, moi revenant, je le reprisse avec usure?
24 And he said to them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
Et il dit à ceux qui étaient présents: Otez-lui la mine, et donnez-la à celui qui a dix mines.
25 ( And they said to him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
Ils lui répondirent: Seigneur, il a déjà dix mines.
26 For I say to you, That to every one who hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even what he hath shall be taken away from him.
Mais, je vous le dis, on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais à celui qui n’a pas, même ce qu’il a lui sera ôté.
27 But those my enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me.
Et pour mes ennemis, qui n’ont pas voulu que je régnasse sur eux, amenez-les ici, tuez-les devant moi.
28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, going up to Jerusalem.
Ces choses dites, il marchait devant eux, montant à Jérusalem.
29 And it came to pass, when he had come near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
Or il arriva, comme il approchait de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, près du mont nommé des Oliviers, qu’il envoya deux de ses disciples,
30 Saying, Go ye into the village opposite you; in which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, on which yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.
Disant: Allez au village qui est là devant: en y entrant, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel aucun homme ne s’est jamais assis: déliez-le et l’amenez.
31 And if any man shall ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say to him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
Et si quelqu’un vous demande: Pourquoi le déliez-vous? vous lui répondrez ainsi: Parce que le Seigneur veut s’en servir.
32 And they that were sent went, and found even as he had said to them.
Ceux donc qui étaient envoyés s’en allèrent, et trouvèrent, comme il leur avait dit, l’ânon arrêté.
33 And as they were loosing the colt, its owners said to them, Why loose ye the colt?
Mais comme ils déliaient l’ânon, ses maîtres leur dirent: Pourquoi déliez-vous l’ânon?
34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
Ils répondirent: Parce que le Seigneur en a besoin.
35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus on it.
Et ils l’amenèrent à Jésus. Et jetant leurs vêtements sur l’ânon, ils mirent Jésus dessus.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
Partout où il passait, le peuple étendait ses vêtements sur le chemin.
37 And when he had come near, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
Et comme il approchait de la descente du mont des Oliviers, toute la foule des disciples, pleine de joie, commença à louer Dieu à haute voix de tous les prodiges qu’ils avaient vus,
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
Disant: Béni celui qui vient roi au nom du Seigneur! paix dans le ciel et gloire au plus haut des cieux!
39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
Alors quelques-uns des pharisiens, du milieu de la foule, lui dirent: Maître, réprimez vos disciples.
40 And he answered and said to them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Il leur répondit: Je vous déclare que si ceux-ci se taisent, les pierres crieront.
41 And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Et comme il approchait, voyant la ville, il pleura sur elle, disant:
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thy eyes.
Si tu connaissais, toi aussi, au moins en ce jour qui t’est encore donné, ce qui importe à ta paix! mais maintenant ces choses sont cachées à tes yeux.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and surround thee, and keep thee in on every side,
Car des jours viendront sur toi, où tes ennemis t’environneront de tranchées, t’enfermeront, te serreront de toutes parts,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Et te renverseront par terre, toi et tes enfants qui sont au milieu de toi, et ils ne laisseront pas en toi pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n’as pas connu le temps où tu as été visitée.
45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold in it, and them that bought;
Et étant entré dans le temple, il commença à chasser ceux qui y vendaient et y achetaient,
46 Saying to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Leur disant: Il est écrit: Ma maison est une maison de prière; mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.
47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
Et il enseignait tous les jours dans le temple. Cependant les princes des prêtres, les scribes, et les principaux du peuple, cherchaient à le perdre;
48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
Mais ils ne trouvaient pas que lui faire; parce que tout le peuple était suspendu en l’écoutant.
