Judges 1

1 Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

Y aconteció después de la muerte de Josué, que los hijos de Israel consultaron a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Quién subirá por nosotros el primero a pelear contra los Cananeos?

2 And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

Y Jehová respondió: Judá subirá: he aquí que yo he entregado la tierra en sus manos.

3 And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

Y Judá dijo a Simeón su hermano: Sube conmigo en mi suerte y peleemos contra el Cananeo: y yo también iré contigo en tu suerte. Y Simeón fue con él.

4 And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

Y subió Judá, y Jehová entregó en sus manos al Cananeo, y al Ferezeo: e hirieron de ellos en Bezec diez mil hombres.

5 And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

Y hallaron a Adoni-bezec en Bezec, y pelearon contra él: e hirieron al Cananeo, y al Ferezeo.

6 But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

Mas Adoni-bezec huyó: y siguiéronle, y prendiéronle, y cortáronle los pulgares de las manos y de los pies.

7 And Adonibezek said, seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I have done, so God hath repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

Entonces dijo Adoni-bezec: Setenta reyes cortados los pulgares de sus manos y de sus pies cogían las migajas debajo de mi mesa: como yo hice, así me ha pagado Dios. Y metiéronle en Jerusalem, donde murió.

8 Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

Y habían combatido los hijos de Judá a Jerusalem, y la habían tomado, y pasado a cuchillo, y puesto a fuego la ciudad:

9 And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt on the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

Después los hijos de Judá descendieron para pelear contra el Cananeo, que habitaba en las montañas, y al mediodía, y en los llanos.

10 And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba: ) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

Y partió Judá contra el Cananeo, que habitaba en Hebrón, la cual se llamaba antes Cariat-arbe, e hirieron a Sesai, a Ahimán, y a Tolmai.

11 And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:

Y de allí fue a los que habitaban en Dabir, que antes se llamaba Cariat-sefer.

12 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter for a wife.

Y dijo Caleb: El que hiriere a Cariat-sefer, y la tomáre yo le daré a Aja mi hija por mujer.

13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.

Y tomóla Otoniel, hijo de Cenez, hermano de Caleb menor que él: y él le dio a Aja su hija por mujer.

14 And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she got off her donkey; and Caleb said to her, What wilt thou?

Y cuando la llevaban, persuadióle que pidiese a su padre tierras para labrar. Y ella descendió del asno: y Caleb le dijo: ¿Qué tienes?

15 And she said to him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

Ella entonces le respondió: Dáme una bendición: que pues me has dado tierra de secadal me des también fuentes de aguas. Entonces Caleb le dio las fuentes de arriba, y las fuentes de abajo.

16 And the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

Y los hijos del Cineo suegro de Moisés subieron de la ciudad de las palmas con los hijos de Judá al desierto de Judá, que es al mediodía de Arad: y fueron y habitaron con el pueblo.

17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

Judá pues fue a su hermano Simeón, e hirieron al Cananeo que habitaba en Sefat, y asoláronla: y pusieron por nombre a la ciudad, Jorma.

18 Also Judah took Gaza with its land, and Askelon with its land, and Ekron with its land.

Tomó también Judá a Gaza con su término: y a Ascalón con su término: y a Accarón con su término.

19 And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

Y fue Jehová con Judá, y echó a los de las montañas: mas no pudo echar a los que habitaban en las campañas, los cuales tenían carros herrados.

20 And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses said: and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.

Y dieron a Caleb a Hebrón, como Moisés había dicho: él cual echó de allí a tres hijos de Enac.

21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

Mas al Jebuseo, que habitaba en Jerusalem no echaron los hijos de Ben-jamín, antes el Jebuseo habitó con los hijos de Ben-jamín en Jerusalem hasta hoy.

22 And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.

También los de la casa de José subieron a Bet-el: y fue Jehová con ellos.

23 And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

Y los de la casa de José pusieron espías en Bet-el, la cual ciudad antes se llamaba Luza.

24 And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.

Y los que espiaban, vieron un hombre que salía de la ciudad, y dijéronle: Muéstranos ahora la entrada de la ciudad, y haremos contigo misericordia.

25 And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

Y él les mostró la entrada a la ciudad, e hiriéronla a filo de espada, y dejaron a aquel hombre con toda su parentela.

26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name of it Luz: which is its name to this day.

Y aquel hombre se fue a la tierra de los Jetteos, y edificó una ciudad, a la cual llamó Luza: y este es su nombre hasta hoy.

27 Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

Tampoco Manasés echó a los de Bet-sán, ni a los de sus aldeas: ni a los de Tanac, y sus aldeas: ni a los que habitaban en Jeblaam, y en sus aldeas: ni a los que habitaban en Mageddo y en sus aldeas: mas el Cananeo quiso habitar en esta tierra.

28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour, and did not utterly drive them out.

Mas cuando Israel tomó fuerzas, hizo al Cananeo tributario: pero no le echó.

29 Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

Tampoco Efraím echó al Cananeo que habitaba en Gazer, antes habito el Cananeo en medio de él en Gazer.

30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became forced labourers.

Tampoco Zabulón echó los que habitaban en Cetrón, y a los que habitaban en Naalol: mas el Cananeo habitó en medio de él, y le fueron tributarios.

31 Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

Tampoco Aser echó a los que habitaban en Acob, y a los que habitaban en Sidón, y en Acalab, y en Acasib, y en Helba, y en Afed, y en Rohob:

32 But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

Antes moró Aser entre los Cananeos, que habitaban en la tierra, que no los echó.

33 Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became forced labourers to them.

Tampoco Neftalí echó los que habitaban en Bet-semes, y a los que habitaban en Bet-avat: mas moró entre los Cananeos, que habitaban en la tierra: mas fuéronle tributarios los moradores de Bet-semes, y los moradores de Bet-avat.

34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan to the mountain: for they would not allow them to come down to the valley:

Los Amorreos apretaron a los hijos de Dan hasta el monte, que no los dejaron descender a la campaña:

35 But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became forced labourers.

Y el Amorreo quiso habitar en el monte de Hares, en Ajalón, y en Salebim; mas como la mano de la casa de José tomó fuerzas, hiciéronlos tributarios.

36 And the border of the Amorites was from the ascent to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.

Y el término del Amorreo fue desde la subida de Acrabim, y desde la piedra, y arriba.
