John 9
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth.
੧ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
੨ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ?”
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
੩ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਵਿਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
੪ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ, ਦਿਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਫਿਰ ਰਾਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
੫ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਚਾਨਣ ਹਾਂ।”
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
੬ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਥੁੱਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਥੋੜੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਗਿੱਲੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਲਾਈ।
7 And said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, ( which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went away therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
੭ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਦੇ ਕੁੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੋ,” ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ “ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਇਆ। ਹੁਣ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਸੀ।
8 The neighbours therefore, and they who before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
੮ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਵੇਖੋ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।”
9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
੯ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ।” ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਨਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਪਰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਂ।”
10 Therefore they said to him, How were thy eyes opened?
੧੦ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਇਆ? ਫਿਰ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਈਆਂ?”
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
੧੧ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਮੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਗੋਈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਧੋਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੋਤੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਣ ਯੋਗ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।”
12 Then said they to him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
੧੨ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ?” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।”
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that before was blind.
੧੩ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ, “ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਏ, ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।
14 And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
੧੪ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਗਿਲੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਲੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਓਹ ਦਿਨ ਸਬਤ ਦਾ ਸੀ।”
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see.
੧੫ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਾਰੀ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ?” ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਗਿੱਲੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਤੇ, ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੋਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
੧੬ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਪੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਯਹੂਦੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ।
17 They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thy eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
੧੭ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ?” ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਹੈ।”
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
੧੮ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
੧੯ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੁਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?”
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
੨੦ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
੨੧ਪਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛੋ। ਉਹ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”
22 These words his parents spoke, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man confessed that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
੨੨ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਏਕਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਆਖੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੈ।
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
੨੩ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਛ ਲਵੋ।”
24 Then again they called the man that was blind, and said to him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
੨੪ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ, ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ, ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਯਿਸੂ) ਪਾਪੀ ਹੈ।”
25 He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that, though I was blind, now I see.
੨੫ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਾਪੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”
26 Then they said to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thy eyes?
੨੬ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ?”
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: Why would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
੨੭ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਨੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ?”
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
੨੮ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਹਾਂ।
29 We know that God spoke to Moses: as for this man, we know not where he is from.
੨੯ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਾਰੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।”
30 The man answered and said to them, Why here is a marvellous thing, that ye know not where he is from, and yet he hath opened my eyes.
੩੦ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਜ਼ੀਬ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man is a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
੩੧ਅਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
32 Since the world began hath it not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. (aiōn g165)
੩੨ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.
੩੩ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਯੋਗ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।”
34 They answered and said to him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
੩੪ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?” ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ।
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said to him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
੩੫ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?”
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
੩੬ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ।”
37 And Jesus said to him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
੩੭ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
੩੮ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਝੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ।”
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not may see; and that they who see may be made blind.
੩੯ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ।”
40 And some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, and said to him, Are we blind also?
੪੦ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇੜੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਨ, ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹਾਂ?”
41 Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
੪੧ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਾਪ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।”
