< Jeremiah 4 >
1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return to me: and if thou wilt put away thy abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not be removed.
Yehowa be, “O Israel, ne miatrɔ la, ekema mitrɔ va gbɔnye ne mieɖe miaƒe legba nyɔŋuawo ɖa le nye ŋkuta eye miagatra mɔ o.
2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
Ne mieta nu be ‘Zi ale si Yehowa le agbe’ le nyateƒe, kakaɖedzi kple dzɔdzɔenyenye me la, ekema ayra dukɔwo eye le eya amea mee woaƒo adegbe le.”
3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Ale Yehowa gblɔ na Yuda kple Yerusalem ŋutsuwoe nye esi: “Miŋlɔ agble yeye, migaƒã nu ɖe aŋɔkawo me o.
4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
Mi Yuda kple Yerusalem ŋutsuwo, mitso aʋa na mia ɖokuiwo na Yehowa. Mitso aʋa na miaƒe dziwo, ne menye nenema o la, nye dziku helĩhelĩ alé dzo abi abe dzo ene eye ame aɖeke mate ŋu atsii o, ɖe nu vɔ̃ siwo miewɔ la ta.”
5 Declare ye in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, confirm, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.
“Miɖe gbeƒã le Yuda, eye mido kpo le Yerusalem gblɔ be, ‘Miku kpẽ le anyigba la katã dzi!’ Mido ɣli sesĩe be, ‘Miƒo ƒu! Mina míasi ayi ɖe du sesẽwo me!’
6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Mikɔ aflaga dzi ɖo ɖe Zion! Misi yi sitsoƒe, migatɔ o! Elabena mehe gbegblẽ tso anyiehe gbɔnae, gbegblẽ si teƒe makɔ o.”
7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
“Dzata aɖe do tso eƒe do me, dukɔwo gblẽla aɖe tso dze mɔ. Etso le enɔƒe be wòava wɔ miaƒe anyigba wòazu gbegbe, ne wòawɔ miaƒe duwo woazu aƒedowo eye amewo manɔ wo me o.
8 For this gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament and wail: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
Eya ta mita akpanya, mifa konyi eye mifa avi sesĩe, elabena Yehowa ƒe dziku sesẽ la medzo le mía dzi o.”
9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
Yehowa be, “Ɣe ma ɣi la dzi aɖe le fia la kple eƒe dumegãwo ƒo, ŋɔdzi alé Nunɔlawo eye Nyagblɔɖilawo ƒe nu atsi te.”
10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; though the sword reacheth to the soul.
Tete megblɔ be, “O Aƒetɔ Yehowa, èflu ame siawo kple Yerusalem ŋutɔ esi nègblɔ be, ‘Miakpɔ ŋutifafa.’ Evɔ, woɖo yi míaƒe vewo dzi.”
11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
Le ɣe ma ɣi la, woagblɔ na ame siawo kple Yerusalem be, “Ya xɔdzo aɖe ƒo tso to ƒuƒluwo dzi to gbegbe gbɔna va nye amewo gbɔ gake menye wòagbɔ nu alo aklɔ nu ta o.
12 Even a full wind from those places shall come to me: now also will I give sentence against them.
Ya sia sẽ ŋutɔ elabena etso gbɔnye. Azɔ la, mehe nye ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ va wo dzii.”
13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! for we are laid waste.
Kpɔ ɖa! Egbɔna abe lilikpowo ene, eƒe tasiaɖamwo le du dzi abe ahomya ene eye eƒe sɔwo ɖea abla wu hɔ̃wo. Baba na mí! Míetsrɔ̃ vɔ!
14 O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
O Yerusalem, klɔ nu tovo ɖa le wò dzi ŋu be nàkpɔ xɔxɔ. Va se ɖe ɣe ka ɣie susu vɔ̃ɖi anɔ mewò?
15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and proclaimeth affliction from mount Ephraim.
Gbe aɖe le gbeƒã ɖem tso Dan. Ele kpo dom gbegblẽ si tso Efraim togbɛwo dzi gbɔna.
16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, proclaim against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
“Migblɔ nya sia na dukɔwo, miɖe gbeƒãe na Yerusalem be, ‘Asrafo siwo ɖea to ɖe duwo la gbɔna tso adzɔgenyigba aɖe dzi; wole aʋaɣli dom ɖe Yuda ƒe duwo ŋuti.
17 As keepers of a field, they are against her on all sides; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
Woɖe to ɖee abe agbleŋudzɔlawo ene elabena edze aglã ɖe ŋunye.’” Yehowae gblɔe.
18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things to thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth to thy heart.
“Wò ŋutɔ wò afɔɖeɖewo kple nuwɔnawoe he esia va dziwòe. Esiae nye wò tohehe. Aleke wòahave wòe! Aleke wòahaƒo ɖe wò dzii!”
19 My heart, my heart! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
O nye dablibɛƒoƒo, nye dablibɛƒoƒo! Mele ŋeŋem le vevesese me. O nye dzi xɔ abi ɖe dɔ me nam! Nye dzi le ƒoƒom le menye, nyemate ŋu azi ɖoɖoe o, elabena mese kpẽ ƒe ɖiɖi, mese aʋaɣlidodo.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents ruined, and my curtains in a moment.
Gbegblẽ kplɔ gbegblẽ ɖo eye anyigba blibo la zu aƒedo. Enumake wogbã nye agbadɔwo eye le aɖabaƒoƒo ɖeka me wogbã nye aƒe.
21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
Va se ɖe ɣe ka ɣie makpɔ aflaga, ase aʋakpẽ?
22 For my people are foolish, they have not known me; they are silly children, and they have no understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
“Nye amewo nye movitɔwo eye womenyam o. Wole abe ɖevi abunɛtɔwo ene elabena womenyam o. Wobi ɖe nu vɔ̃ɖi wɔwɔ me eye womenya nu nyui wɔwɔ o.”
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
Mewu mo dzi kpɔ towo, wole dzodzom kpekpekpe eye togbɛwo katã le ʋuʋum.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the fowls of the heavens had fled.
Metsa ŋku ke nyemekpɔ ame aɖeke o. Xevi ɖe sia ɖe si le yame gɔ̃ hã dzo dzo.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
Menye kɔ eye mekpɔ anyigba nyonu la zu gbegbe; eƒe duwo katã hã zu aƒedo le Yehowa ŋkume le eƒe dziku helĩhelĩ la ta.
27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
Ale Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: “Anyigba blibo la azu aƒedo, gake nyemagblẽe gbidigbidi o.
28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
Eya ta anyigba axa nu eye dziƒo ado viviti elabena meƒo nu eye nyemagbe edziwɔwɔ o. Meɖo ta me eye nyematrɔ susu o.”
29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell in it.
Du sia du lé du tsɔ esi wose sɔwo kple aŋutrɔdalawo ƒe hoowɔwɔ. Ame aɖewo yi ɖabe ɖe ave dodowo me, eye ɖewo lia agakpewo. Duwo katã me ɖi gbɔlo: ame aɖeke megale wo me o.
30 And when thou art laid waste, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou enlarge thy eyes with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
O, wò ame si wotsrɔ̃, nu ka wɔm nèle? Nu ka ta nètsɔ awu dzĩ kple sikanuwo do? Nu ka ta nètsɔ ɖoŋkui sisi ɖe ŋkuta ɖo? Dzodzroe nèwɔ leke na ɖokuiwò. Wò lɔlɔ̃tɔwo do vlo wò eye wole wò agbe yome tim.
31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
