Genesis 47
1 Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, have come from the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
൧അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് ചെന്ന്: “എന്റെ അപ്പനും സഹോദരന്മാരും അവരുടെ ആടുകളും കന്നുകാലികളും അവർക്കുള്ള സകലവും കനാൻദേശത്തുനിന്നു വന്നു; അവർ ഇപ്പോൾ ഗോശെൻദേശത്ത് ഇരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു ഫറവോനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
2 And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them to Pharaoh.
൨പിന്നെ അവൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽ അഞ്ചുപേരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിർത്തി.
3 And Pharaoh said to his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said to Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.
൩അപ്പോൾ ഫറവോൻ അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോട്: “നിങ്ങളുടെ തൊഴിൽ എന്ത്” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന് അവർ ഫറവോനോട്: “അടിയങ്ങളും അടിയങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും ഇടയന്മാരാകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 They said moreover to Pharaoh, We have come to sojourn in the land; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
൪“ദേശത്തു പാർക്കുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; കനാൻദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം കഠിനമായിരിക്കയാൽ അടിയങ്ങളുടെ ആടുകൾക്കു മേച്ചിലില്ല; അടിയങ്ങൾ ഗോശെൻദേശത്തു പാർത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ” എന്നും അവർ ഫറവോനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
5 And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren have come to thee:
൫ഫറവോൻ യോസേഫിനോട്: “നിന്റെ അപ്പനും സഹോദരന്മാരും നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
6 The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any able men among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
൬ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തിലേക്കും നല്ലഭാഗത്ത് നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും താമസിപ്പിക്കുക; അവർ ഗോശെൻദേശത്തുതന്നെ വസിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ. അവരിൽ പ്രാപ്തന്മാർ ഉണ്ടെന്ന് നീ അറിയുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവരെ എന്റെ ആടുമാടുകളുടെ മേൽവിചാരകന്മാരാക്കി വെക്കുക” എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
൭യോസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യാക്കോബിനെയും അകത്ത് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവനെ ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിർത്തി,
8 And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How old art thou?
൮യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു. ഫറവോൻ യാക്കോബിനോട്: “എത്ര വയസ്സായി” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, nor have they attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
൯യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനോട്: “എന്റെ പരദേശപ്രയാണത്തിന്റെ കാലം നൂറ്റിമുപ്പത് വർഷം ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ചുരുക്കവും കഷ്ടതയേറിയതും അത്രേ; എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ പരദേശപ്രയാണമായ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തോളം എത്തിയിട്ടുമില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
൧൦യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനെ പിന്നെയും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് പോയി.
11 And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
൧൧അനന്തരം യോസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും പാർപ്പിച്ചു; ഫറവോൻ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവർക്ക് ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തിലേക്കും നല്ല ഭാഗമായ രമെസേസ് ദേശത്ത് അവകാശവും കൊടുത്തു.
12 And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father’s household, with bread, according to their families.
൧൨യോസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും അപ്പന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ ഒക്കെയും കുടുംബത്തിലെ എണ്ണത്തിന് ഒത്തവണ്ണം ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു രക്ഷിച്ചു.
13 And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
൧൩എന്നാൽ ക്ഷാമം ഏറ്റവും കഠിനമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ദേശത്തെങ്ങും ആഹാരമില്ലാതെയായി ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശവും കനാൻദേശവും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടു വലഞ്ഞു.
14 And Joseph gathered all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
൧൪ജനങ്ങൾ വാങ്ങിയ ധാന്യത്തിനു വിലയായി യോസേഫ് ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തും കനാൻദേശത്തുമുള്ള പണം ഒക്കെയും ശേഖരിച്ചു; പണം യോസേഫ് ഫറവോന്റെ അരമനയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
൧൫ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തും കനാൻദേശത്തും പണം ഇല്ലാതെയായപ്പോൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർ ഒക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: “ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആഹാരം തരേണം; ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ കിടന്നു മരിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന്? പണം തീർന്നുപോയി” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money hath failed.
൧൬അതിന് യോസേഫ്: “നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ തരുവിൻ; പണം തീർന്നുപോയെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ വിലയായി വാങ്ങി ഞാൻ ആഹാരം തരാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 And they brought their cattle to Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
൧൭അങ്ങനെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; കുതിര, ആട്, കന്നുകാലി, കഴുത എന്നിവയെ യോസേഫ് വിലയായി വാങ്ങി അവർക്ക് ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു; ആ വർഷം അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ എല്ലാം വാങ്ങി ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.
18 When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, We will not hide from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is nothing left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
൧൮ആ വർഷം കഴിഞ്ഞ് പിറ്റെ വർഷം അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഞങ്ങളുടെ പണം ചെലവായി, മൃഗക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും യജമാനന്റേതായി; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരങ്ങളും നിലങ്ങളുമല്ലാതെ യജമാനന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒന്നും ശേഷിപ്പില്ല എന്നുള്ളത് യജമാനനെ ഞങ്ങൾ മറയ്ക്കുന്നില്ല.
19 Why shall we die before thy eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
൧൯ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ നിലവും നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന് മുമ്പിൽ എന്തിന് നശിക്കുന്നു? നീ ഞങ്ങളെയും നിലത്തെയും ആഹാരത്തിനു വിലയായി വാങ്ങണം. ഞങ്ങൾ നിലവുമായി ഫറവോന് അടിമകൾ ആകട്ടെ. ഞങ്ങൾ മരിക്കാതെ ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനും നിലം ശൂന്യമായി പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വിത്ത് തരണം”.
20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.
൨൦അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ നിലം ഒക്കെയും ഫറവോനുവേണ്ടി വിലയ്ക്കു വാങ്ങി; ക്ഷാമം പ്രബലപ്പെട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർ തങ്ങളുടെ നിലം വിറ്റു; നിലമെല്ലാം ഫറവോന്റേതായി.
21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to its other end.
൨൧ജനങ്ങളെയോ അവൻ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തിന്റെ ഒരറ്റംമുതൽ മറ്റേയറ്റംവരെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അടിമാകളാക്കി മാറ്റി പാർപ്പിച്ചു.
22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them by Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them: therefore they sold not their lands.
൨൨പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ നിലം മാത്രം അവൻ വാങ്ങിയില്ല; പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കു ഫറവോൻ ഒരു വിഹിതം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഫറവോൻ അവർക്ക് കൊടുത്ത വിഹിതംകൊണ്ട് അവർ ഉപജീവനം കഴിച്ചതിനാൽ അവർ അവരുടെ നിലം വിറ്റില്ല.
23 Then Joseph said to the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
൨൩യോസേഫ് ജനങ്ങളോട്: “ഞാൻ ഇന്ന് നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലത്തെയും ഫറവോനു വിലയ്ക്കു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിത്ത് ഇതാ; നിലം വിതച്ചുകൊള്ളുവിൻ.
24 And it shall come to pass in the harvest, that ye shall give the fifth part to Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
൨൪വിളവെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഫറവോന് അഞ്ചിലൊന്നു കൊടുക്കണം; നാലോഹരിയോ, വിതയ്ക്കാനുള്ള വിത്തായിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളിലുള്ളവർക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികൾക്കും ആഹാരമായിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾക്കുതന്നെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
25 And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.
൨൫അതിന് അവർ: “നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യജമാനന് ഞങ്ങളോടു ദയയുണ്ടായാൽ മതി; ഞങ്ങൾ ഫറവോന് അടിമകളായിക്കൊള്ളാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh’s.
൨൬അഞ്ചിലൊന്നു ഫറവോനു കൊടുക്കണം എന്നിങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ നിലങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു വച്ച നിയമം ഇന്നുവരെയും നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ നിലം മാത്രം ഫറവോന്റേതായിട്ടില്ല.
27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions in it, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
൨൭യിസ്രായേൽ ഈജിപ്റ്റുരാജ്യത്തിലെ ഗോശെൻദേശത്തു പാർത്തു; അവിടെ കൈവശാവകാശം സമ്പാദിച്ച്, ഏറ്റവും സന്താന പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവരായി പെരുകിവന്നു.
28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred and forty and seven years.
൨൮യാക്കോബ് ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വന്നശേഷം പതിനേഴു വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ആകെ നൂറ്റിനാല്പത്തേഴു വർഷം ആയിരുന്നു.
29 And the time drew near that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
൨൯മരണത്തിനുള്ള കാലം അടുത്തപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ മകനായ യോസേഫിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച് അവനോട്: “നിനക്ക് എന്നോട് കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ തുടയിൻകീഴിൽ വെക്കുക; എന്നോട് ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും കാണിച്ച് എന്നെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അടക്കാതെ,
30 But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
൩൦ഞാൻ എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രകൊള്ളുമ്പോൾ എന്നെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിന്ന് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി അവരുടെ ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയിൽ സംസ്കരിക്കണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ഞാൻ ചെയ്യാം” എന്ന് യോസേഫ് പറഞ്ഞു.
31 And he said, Swear to me. And he swore to him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.
൩൧“എന്നോട് സത്യം ചെയ്ക” എന്ന് യിസ്രായേൽ പറഞ്ഞു; യോസേഫ് സത്യംചെയ്തു; അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽ കട്ടിലിന്റെ തലയ്ക്കൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
