Genesis 35
1 And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar to God, who appeared to thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
அதன்பின் இறைவன் யாக்கோபிடம், “நீ பெத்தேலுக்குப் போய் அங்கே குடியிரு, நீ உன் சகோதரன் ஏசாவுக்குப் பயந்து ஓடிப்போகிற வழியில், உனக்குத் தோன்றிய இறைவனுக்கு அவ்விடத்தில் ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டு” என்றார்.
2 Then Jacob said to his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the foreign gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
எனவே யாக்கோபு தன் குடும்பத்தாரிடமும், தன்னோடிருந்த எல்லோரிடமும், “நீங்கள் வைத்திருக்கும் அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை விலக்கிப் போடுங்கள்; உங்களைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்தி, உங்கள் உடைகளை மாற்றுங்கள்.
3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
அதன்பின் வாருங்கள், எல்லோரும் பெத்தேலுக்குப் போவோம். என் துயர நாட்களில் என் மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்டு, நான் போன இடமெல்லாம் என்னுடன் இருந்த இறைவனுக்கு, அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டுவேன்” என்றான்.
4 And they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hand, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்களிடமிருந்த அந்நிய தெய்வங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும், தங்கள் காதணிகளையும் யாக்கோபிடம் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அவன் அவற்றையெல்லாம் சீகேமில் ஒரு பெரிய கர்வாலி மரத்தின்கீழ் புதைத்தான்.
5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was on the cities that were around them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
அதன்பின் அவர்கள் அவ்விடத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்களைச் சூழ இருந்த பட்டணத்தின் மக்களின்மேல் இறைவனின் பயங்கரம் இறங்கியது. அதனால் அவர்கள் ஒருவரும் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடரவில்லை.
6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.
யாக்கோபும் அவனுடன் இருந்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும், கானான் நாட்டிலுள்ள லூஸ் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட பெத்தேலுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.
7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
அங்கே அவன் ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, அந்த இடத்தை ஏல்பெத்தேல் என அழைத்தான். ஏனெனில், அவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்குப் பயந்து ஓடியபோது அவ்விடத்திலேயே இறைவன் தம்மை அவனுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.
8 But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.
ரெபெக்காளின் மருத்துவச்சி தெபோராள் இறந்து, பெத்தேலுக்கு அருகிலுள்ள கர்வாலி மரத்தின்கீழ் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டாள். அந்த இடத்திற்கு அல்லோன் பாகூத் எனப் பெயரிடப்பட்டது.
9 And God appeared to Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.
யாக்கோபு பதான் அராமிலிருந்து திரும்பி வருகையில், இறைவன் மறுபடியும் அவனுக்குத் தோன்றி, அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.
10 And God said to him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
இறைவன் அவனிடம், “உன் பெயர் யாக்கோபு, ஆனால் நீ இனிமேல் யாக்கோபு என்று அழைக்கப்படாமல் இஸ்ரயேல் என்றே அழைக்கப்படுவாய்” என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு இஸ்ரயேல் என்று பெயரிட்டார்.
11 And God said to him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a multitude of nations shall spring from thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
மேலும் இறைவன், “எல்லாம் வல்ல இறைவன் நானே; நீ பலுகி, எண்ணிக்கையில் பெருகுவாயாக. உன்னிலிருந்து ஒரு நாடும், நாடுகளின் கூட்டமும் தோன்றும்; உன் சந்ததியிலிருந்து அரசர்களும் தோன்றுவார்கள்.
12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் நான் கொடுத்த நாட்டை உனக்கும் கொடுக்கிறேன்; உனக்குப்பின் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் இதைக் கொடுப்பேன்” என்றார்.
13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.
இதன்பின் இறைவன் அவனுடன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்த இடத்திலிருந்து மேலே போய்விட்டார்.
14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.
இறைவன் தன்னுடன் பேசிய அந்த இடத்தில் யாக்கோபு ஒரு கல்தூணை நிறுத்தினான்; அதன்மேல் பானகாணிக்கையையும் எண்ணெயையும் ஊற்றினான்.
15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.
இறைவன் தன்னுடன் பேசிய அவ்விடத்துக்கு யாக்கோபு பெத்தேல் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
அதன்பின் அவர்கள் பெத்தேலில் இருந்து புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள். எப்பிராத்தாவிற்கு வர சற்றுத் தூரத்தில் இருக்கும்போதே, ராகேல் பிரசவ வேதனையால் மிகவும் கஷ்டப்பட்டாள்.
17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said to her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
அவள் பிரசவத்தில் கஷ்டப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கையில் மருத்துவச்சி அவளிடம், “பயப்படாதே, உனக்கு இன்னுமொரு மகன் பிறந்திருக்கிறான்” என்றாள்.
18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died ) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.
மரணத் தருவாயில் அவள் கடைசிமூச்சு விடும்போது பிறந்த மகனுக்கு பெனொனி என்று பெயரிட்டாள். ஆனால் அவன் தகப்பனோ, அவனுக்கு பென்யமீன் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
ராகேல் இறந்து பெத்லெகேம் என்னும் எப்பிராத்தாவுக்குப் போகும் வழியிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டாள்.
20 And Jacob set a pillar on her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.
யாக்கோபு அவள் கல்லறைக்குமேல் ஒரு தூணை நிறுத்தினான். இந்நாள்வரை அத்தூண் ராகேலின் கல்லறையின் அடையாளமாக இருக்கிறது.
21 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
இஸ்ரயேல் திரும்பவும் தொடர்ந்து பயணம் செய்து, மிக்தால் ஏதேருக்கு அப்பால் தன் கூடாரத்தை அமைத்தான்.
22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
யாக்கோபு அப்பிரதேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கையில், ரூபன் தன் தகப்பனின் வைப்பாட்டி பில்காளுடன் உறவுகொண்டான்; அதை இஸ்ரயேல் கேள்விப்பட்டான். யாக்கோபுக்கு பன்னிரண்டு மகன்கள் இருந்தார்கள்:
23 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
லேயாளின் மகன்கள்: யாக்கோபின் மூத்த மகனான ரூபன், சிமியோன், லேவி, யூதா, இசக்கார், செபுலோன் என்பவர்கள்.
24 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:
ராகேலின் மகன்கள்: யோசேப்பு, பென்யமீன் என்பவர்கள்.
25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
ராகேலின் பணிப்பெண் பில்காள் பெற்ற மகன்கள்: தாண், நப்தலி என்பவர்கள்.
26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Padanaram.
லேயாளின் பணிப்பெண் சில்பாள் பெற்ற மகன்கள்: காத், ஆசேர் என்பவர்கள். பதான் அராமில் யாக்கோபுக்குப் பிறந்த மகன்கள் இவர்களே.
27 And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mamre, to the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
யாக்கோபு கீரியாத் அர்பாவுக்கு அருகேயிருந்த எப்ரோன் எனப்படும் மம்ரேயில் வசித்த தன் தகப்பன் ஈசாக்கின் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்தான். ஆபிரகாமும் ஈசாக்கும் முன்பு அவ்விடத்திலேயே குடியிருந்தனர்.
28 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and eighty years.
ஈசாக்கு நூற்று எண்பது வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்தான்.
29 And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered to his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
பின்பு ஈசாக்கு தன் இறுதி மூச்சைவிட்டு இறந்தான்; பூரண ஆயுள் உள்ளவனாய் தன் முன்னோருடன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டான். அவனுடைய மகன்களான ஏசாவும், யாக்கோபும் அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.
