Genesis 17
1 And when Abram was ninety and nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Koska Abram oli yhdeksänkymmenen ja yhdeksän ajastaikainen, näkyi Herra Abramille ja sanoi hänelle: Minä olen Jumala kaikkivaltias: vaella minun edessäni, ja ole vakaa.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Ja minä teen liittoni minun ja sinun välilles, ja lisään sinun sangen suuresti.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
Ja Abram lankesi kasvoillensa: Ja Jumala puhui hänen kanssansa, sanoen:
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Katso, Minä olen, ja minun liittoni on sinun kanssas, ja sinä tulet paljon kansan isäksi.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
Sentähden ei sinua pidä enää kutsuttaman Abram; mutta Abrahamin pitää oleman sinun nimes: sillä minä olen tehnyt sinun paljon kansan isäksi.
6 And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come forth from thee.
Ja teen sinun sangen suuresti hedelmälliseksi, ja asetan sinun kansoiksi: ja kuninkaat tulevat sinusta.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Ja minä teen minun liittoni minun vaiheelleni ja sinun, ja sinun siemenes sinun jälkees, heidän suvuissansa ijankaikkiseksi liitoksi: että minä olen sinun Jumalas, ja sinun siemenes sinun jälkees.
8 And I will give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land in which thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
Ja annan sinulle ja sinun siemenelles sinun jälkees, sen maan, jossa sinä muukalainen olet; koko Kanaanin maan ijäiseksi omaisuudeksi: ja olen heidän Jumalansa.
9 And God said to Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
Ja Jumala sanoi Abrahamille: pidä siis minun liittoni, sinä ja sinun siemenes sinun jälkees, heidän suvuissansa.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every male among you shall be circumcised.
Ja tämä on liitto, jonka teidän pitämän pitää, minun vaiheellani ja teidän, ja sinun siemenes vaiheella sinun jälkees: kaikki miehenpuoli pitää teidän seassanne ympärileikattaman.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.
Ja teidän pitää ympärileikkaaman teidän esinahkanne lihan: sen pitää oleman liiton merkiksi minun ja teidän vaiheellanne.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, who is not of thy seed.
Kahdeksan päiväinen poikalapsi pitää ympärileikattaman teidän seassanne, kaikki miehenpuoli teidän suvuissanne: kotona syntynyt, eli kaikkinaiselta muukalaiselta rahalla ostettu, joka ei ole sinun siemenestäs.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Kaiketi pitää ympärileikattaman sekä kotonas syntynyt, että rahallas ostettu; ja niin minun liittoni on oleva teidän lihassanne ijankaikkiseksi liitoksi.
14 And the uncircumcised male whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
Ja jonka esinahallisen miehenpuolen esinahan liha ei ympärileikata, se sielu pitää hukutettaman kansastansa: hän on minun liittoni rikkonut.
15 And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
Ja Jumala sanoi Abrahamille: Saraita sinun emäntääs ei pidä sinun enää kutsuman Sarai; vaan Saara pitää oleman hänen nimensä:
16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also by her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall come from her.
Sillä minä siunaan häntä, ja annan myös hänestä sinulle pojan; sillä minä siunaan hänen, ja hän on tuleva kansoiksi, ja kansain kuninkaat tulevat hänestä.
17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?
Ja Abraham lankesi kasvoillensa ja naurahti, ja sanoi sydämessänsä: syntyneekö sadanajastaikaiselle poika? ja Saara yhdeksänkymmenen ajastaikainen synnyttäneekö?
18 And Abraham said to God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
Ja Abraham sanoi Jumalalle: josko Ismael sais elää sinun edessäs!
19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
Niin sanoi Jumala: Tosin Saara sinun emäntäs synnyttää sinulle pojan ja sinun pitää hänen nimensä kutsuman Isaak: ja minä teen minun liittoni hänen kanssansa ijankaikkiseksi liitoksi, hänen siemenellensä hänen jälkeensä.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
Ismaelista olen minä myös sinun rukoukses kuullut, katso, minä olen siunannut häntä, ja teen hänen hedelmälliseksi, ja lisään hänen sangen suuresti: kaksitoistakymmentä ruhtinasta pitää hänen siittämän, ja minä teen hänen suureksi kansaksi.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this set time in the next year.
Mutta minun liittoni teen minä Isaakin kanssa; jonka Saara on sinulle synnyttävä, tähän aikaan tulevana vuonna.
22 And he finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
Ja kuin puhe oli päätetty hänen kanssansa, meni Jumala ylös Abrahamin tyköä.
23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.
Ja Abraham otti poikansa Ismaelin, ja kaikki kotona syntyneet, ja kaikki ostetut: kaiken miehenpuolen Abrahamin huoneessa: ja ympärileikkasi heidän esinahkansa lihan, kohta sinä päivänä kuin Jumala oli puhunut hänen kanssansa.
24 And Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Ja Abraham oli yhdeksän ja yhdeksänkymmenen ajastaikainen, koska hänen esinahkansa liha ympärileikattiin.
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Mutta Ismael hänen poikansa oli kolmentoistakymmenen ajastaikainen, koska hänen esinahkansa liha ympärileikattiin.
26 In the same day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
Yhtenä päivänä ympärileikattiin Abraham, ja Ismael hänen poikansa.
27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
Ja kaikki miehenpuoli hänen huoneessansa, kotona syntyneet ja muukalaisilta ostetut, ympärileikattiin hänen kanssansa.
