Esther 6
1 In that night the king could not sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
Naquela noite, o rei não conseguiu dormir. Ele ordenou que o livro de registros das crônicas fosse trazido, e elas foram lidas para o rei.
2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had informed on Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
Foi encontrado escrito que Mordecai tinha contado de Bigthana e Teresh, dois dos eunucos do rei, que eram porteiros, que tinham tentado colocar as mãos no rei Ahasuerus.
3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been bestowed upon Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered to him, There is nothing done for him.
O rei disse: “Que honra e dignidade foi dada a Mordecai por isto?”. Então os servos do rei que o atenderam disseram: “Nada foi feito por ele”.
4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
O rei disse: “Quem está na corte?” Agora Haman tinha entrado na corte externa da casa do rei, para falar com o rei sobre a enforcamento de Mordecai na forca que ele tinha preparado para ele.
5 And the king’s servants said to him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
Os servos do rei lhe disseram: “Eis que Haman está na corte”. O rei disse: “Deixem-no entrar”.
6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?
Então, Haman entrou. O rei lhe disse: “O que será feito ao homem a quem o rei se deleita em honrar”? Agora Haman disse em seu coração: “Quem o rei se deleitaria em honrar mais do que eu?”
7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,
Haman disse ao rei: “Para o homem que o rei se deleita em honrar,
8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
traga a roupa real que o rei usa para vestir, e o cavalo que o rei monta, e sobre a cabeça do qual está colocada uma coroa real.
9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
Que a roupa e o cavalo sejam entregues na mão de um dos príncipes mais nobres do rei, para que possam vestir o homem que o rei se deleita em honrar com eles, e fazê-lo cavalgar a cavalo pela praça da cidade, e proclamar diante dele: “Assim será feito ao homem a quem o rei se deleita em honrar”!
10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
Então o rei disse a Haman: “Apresse-se e leve a roupa e o cavalo, como você disse, e faça isso por Mordecai, o judeu, que está sentado no portão do rei”. Que nada falhe de tudo o que você falou”.
11 Then Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
Então Haman pegou a roupa e o cavalo, e vestiu Mordecai, e o fez cavalgar pela praça da cidade, e proclamou diante dele: “Assim será feito ao homem a quem o rei se deleita em honrar”!
12 And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
Mordecai voltou ao portão do rei, mas Haman correu para sua casa, lamentando e tendo sua cabeça coberta.
13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife to him, If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
Haman relatou a Zeresh sua esposa e todos os seus amigos tudo o que lhe havia acontecido. Então seus sábios e Zeresh sua esposa lhe disseram: “Se Mordecai, diante de quem você começou a cair, é de ascendência judaica, você não prevalecerá contra ele, mas certamente cairá diante dele”.
14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
Enquanto ainda estavam conversando com ele, os eunucos do rei vieram, e se apressaram para trazer Haman ao banquete que Esther havia preparado.
