Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et Timothée son frère;

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colosse: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Aux saints et aux frères fidèles en Jésus-Christ qui sont à Colosse,

3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

Grâce à vous et paix par Dieu notre Père, et par Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ. Nous rendons grâces à Dieu le Père de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, priant sans cesse pour vous;

4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

Depuis que nous avons appris votre foi dans le Christ Jésus, et la charité que vous avez pour tous les saints,

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which ye have heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

À cause de l’espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux, et dont vous avez eu connaissance par la parole de la vérité de l’Evangile,

6 Which is come to you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

Qui vous est parvenu, comme il est aussi répandu dans le monde entier, où il fructifie et croît, ainsi qu’en vous, depuis le jour où vous l’avez entendu, et où vous avez connu la grâce de Dieu dans la vérité;

7 As ye also learned from Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

Selon que vous l’avez appris du très cher Epaphras, notre compagnon dans le service de Dieu et ministre fidèle du Christ Jésus à votre égard;

8 Who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.

Lequel nous a fait connaître aussi votre charité toute spirituelle.

9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

C’est pourquoi, du jour où nous l’avons appris, nous ne cessons de prier pour vous, et de demander à Dieu que vous soyez remplis de la connaissance de sa volonté, en toute sagesse et intelligence spirituelle;

10 That ye may walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Afin que vous marchiez d une manière digne de Dieu, lui plaisant en toutes choses, fructifiant en toutes sortes de bonnes œuvres, et croissant dans la science de Dieu;

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, to all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Corroborés de toute force par la puissance de sa gloire, de toute patience et de toute longanimité accompagnée de joie;

12 Giving thanks to the Father, who hath made us qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Rendant grâces à Dieu le Père qui nous a fait dignes d’avoir part à l’héritage des saints dans la lumière;

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his beloved Son:

Qui nous a arrachés de la puissance des ténèbres, et transférés dans le royaume du Fils de sa dilection,

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

En qui nous avons la rédemption par son sang, la rémission des péchés;

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation:

Qui est l’image du Dieu invisible, le premier-né de toute créature.

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are upon earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Car c’est par lui que toutes choses ont été créées dans les cieux et sur la terre, les visibles et les invisibles, soit trônes, soit dominations, soit principautés, soit puissances: tout a été créé par lui et en lui;

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Et lui-même est avant tous, et tout subsiste en lui.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he may have the preeminence.

Et lui-même est le chef du corps de l’Eglise; il est le principe, le premier-né d’entre les morts, afin qu’en toutes choses il garde la primauté.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Parce qu’il a plu an Père que toute plénitude habitât en lui;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things to himself; by him, I say, whether they are things on earth, or things in heaven.

Et par lui de se réconcilier toutes choses, pacifiant par le sang de sa croix, soit ce qui est sur la terre, soit ce qui est dans les cieux.

21 And you, that were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Et vous, qui autrefois étiez adversaires et ennemis en esprit par vos œuvres mauvaises,

22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Il vous a maintenant réconciliés dans le corps de sa chair par la mort, pour vous rendre saints, purs et irrépréhensibles devant lui;

23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; of which I Paul am made a minister;

Si toutefois vous demeurez fondés et affermis dans la foi, et inébranlables dans l’espérance de l’Evangile que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créature qui est sous le ciel, et dont j’ai été fait ministre, moi Paul,

24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:

Qui maintenant me réjouis dans mes souffrances pour vous, et accomplis dans ma chair ce qui manque aux souffrances du Christ, pour son corps qui est l’Eglise,

25 Of which I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Dont j’ai été fait ministre, selon la dispensation de Dieu, qui m’a été confiée pour que je vous annonce complètement la parole de Dieu;

26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is revealed to his saints: (aiōn g165)

Le mystère qui a été caché dès l’origine des siècles et des générations, et qui est maintenant révélé à ses saints, (aiōn g165)

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Auxquels Dieu a voulu faire connaître quelles sont les richesses de la gloire de ce mystère parmi les nations, lequel est le Christ, pour vous l’espérance de la gloire,

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Christ que nous vous annonçons, reprenant tout homme, et enseignant à tout homme toute sagesse, afin de rendre tout homme parfait dans le Christ Jésus:

29 For which I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Ce à quoi je travaille en combattant selon l’énergie qu’il produit puissamment en moi.
