2 John 1
1 The elder to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
Jan Boží církvi u vás a všem jejím členům. Miluji vás spolu se všemi, kdo poznali pravdu,
která žije v našich srdcích a zůstane tu věčně. (aiōn g165)
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
A nejen pravda, ale i láska, slitování a pokoj od Boha Otce i od Ježíše, jeho Syna.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
Mám radost, že někteří z vás žijí opravdu podle Božích přikázání.
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
Nebude to nic nového, ale připomenu jen to, co víte už dávno:
6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
Milujme jedni druhé, jak nás tomu učil Ježíš Kristus.
7 For many deceivers have entered into the world, who confess not Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Láska a poslušnost jsou naše jediná ochrana před svůdci, kterých je dnes všude plno. Kdo popírá, že Ježíš Kristus je Boží Syn, který se stal člověkem, vás zavádí a je Kristův nepřítel.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Mějte se na pozoru, aby nepřišlo nazmar, co jsme společně vybojovali, a abyste nakonec o všechno nepřišli.
9 Whoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Kdo nemá dost na Kristově učení a pouští se do spekulací, vzdaluje se od Boha. Kdo se Kristova učení drží, má blízko k Bohu Otci i Synu.
10 If any one cometh to you, and bringeth not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither wish him greetings:
Přijde-li někdo s jiným učením, zavřete před ním dveře a nedávejte mu příležitost.
11 For he that wisheth him greetings is partaker of his evil deeds.
Kdo mu ji dává, stává se spoluviníkem.
12 Having many things to write to you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come to you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
Mám ještě mnohé na srdci, ale nechci to svěřit papíru. Doufám, že se k vám dostanu a osobně si pohovoříme a potěšíme se navzájem.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
