2 Chronicles 25

1 Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

De veinte y cinco años era Amasías cuando comenzó a reinar, y veinte y nueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fue Joiadam de Jerusalem.

2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

Este hizo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová, aunque no de perfecto corazón.

3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.

Porque después que fue confirmado en el reino, mató a sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.

4 But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law of the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.

Mas no mató a los hijos de ellos, según que está escrito en la ley en el libro de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No morirán los padres por los hijos, ni los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.

5 Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

Y juntó Amasías a Judá, y púsolos por las familias, por los tribunos y centuriones por todo Judá y Ben-jamín; y tomólos por lista a todos los de veinte años y arriba: y fueron hallados en ellos trescientos mil escogidos para salir a la guerra, que tenían lanza y escudo.

6 He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.

Y de Israel tomó a sueldo cien mil hombres valientes, por cien talentos de plata.

7 But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, that is, with all the children of Ephraim.

Mas un varón de Dios vino a él, que le dijo: Oh rey, no vaya contigo el ejército de Israel: porque Jehová no es con Israel, ni con todos los hijos de Efraím.

8 But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

Mas si tú vas, haces, y te esfuerzas para pelear, Dios te hará caer delante de los enemigos: porque en Dios está la fortaleza, o para ayudar, o para derribar.

9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

Y Amasías dijo al varón de Dios: ¿Qué pues se hará de cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel? Y el varón de Dios respondió: De Jehová es darte mucho más que esto.

10 Then Amaziah separated them, that is, the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: therefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.

Entonces Amasías apartó el escuadrón de la gente que había venido a él de Efraím, para que se fuesen a sus casas: y ellos se enojaron grandemente contra Judá, y volviéronse a sus casas enojados.

11 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.

Y esforzándose Amasías, sacó su pueblo, y vino al valle de la sal, e hirió de los hijos de Seir diez mil.

12 And other ten thousand left alive the children of Judah carried away captive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they were all broken in pieces.

Y los hijos de Judá tomaron vivos otros diez mil; los cuales llevaron a la cumbre de un peñasco, y de allí los despeñaron, y todos se hicieron pedazos.

13 But the soldiers of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even to Bethhoron, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.

Y los del escuadrón que Amasías había enviado, porque no fuesen con él a la guerra, derramáronse sobre las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Bet-orón: e hirieron de ellos tres mil, y saquearon un grande despojo.

14 Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed himself before them, and burned incense to them.

Y como volvió Amasías de la matanza de los Idumeos, trajo también consigo los dioses de los hijos de Seir; y púsoselos para sí por dioses, y encorvóse delante de ellos, y quemóles perfumes.

15 Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thy hand?

Y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra Amasías, y envió a él un profeta, que le dijo: ¿Por qué has buscado los dioses de pueblo, que no libraron su pueblo de tus manos?

16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Art thou made of the king’s council? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.

Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: ¿Hánte puesto a ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso: ¿por qué quieres que te maten? Y cesando él profeta, dijo: Yo sé que Dios ha acordado de destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste a mi consejo.

17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

Y Amasías rey de Judá, habido su consejo, envió a Joas, hijo de Joacaz hijo de Jehú rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámosnos cara a cara.

18 And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

Entonces Joas rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá, diciendo: El cardo que estaba en él Líbano envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija a mi hijo por mujer. Y, he aquí que las bestias fieras que estaban en el Líbano, pasaron, y hollaron el cardo.

19 Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thy harm, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

Tú dices: He aquí, he herido a Edom, y con esto tu corazón se enaltece para gloriarte: ahora estáte en tu casa: ¿para qué te entremetes en mal, para caer tú, y Judá contigo?

20 But Amaziah would not hear; for it came from God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.

Mas Amasías no lo quiso oír; porque estaba de Dios, que los quería entregar en manos de sus enemigos, por cuanto habían buscado los dioses de Edom.

21 So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they looked one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

Y subió Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse cara a cara, él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Bet-sames, la cual es en Judá.

22 And Judah was smote before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.

Mas Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyó cada uno a su estancia.

23 And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

Y Joas rey de Israel prendió a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas, hijo de Joacaz en Bet-sames; y trájole en Jerusalem; y derribó el muro de Jerusalem, desde la puerta de Efraím hasta la puerta del rincón, cuatrocientos codos.

24 And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

Asimismo tomó todo el oro y plata, y todos los vasos, que se hallaron en la casa de Dios en casa de Obed-edom, y los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos de los príncipes, y volvióse a Samaria.

25 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

Y vivió Amasías, hijo de Joas, rey de Judá quince años después de la muerte de Joas, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.

26 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

Lo demás de los hechos de Amasías primeros y postreros, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá, y de Israel?

27 Now after the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.

Desde aquel tiempo que Amasías se apartó de Jehová, conjuraron contra él conjuración en Jerusalem: y habiendo él huido a Laquis, enviaron tras él a Laquis, y allá le mataron.

28 And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.

Y trajéronle en caballos, y sepultáronle con sus padres en la ciudad de Judá.
