1 Thessalonians 4
1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Assim que, irmãos, no demais vos rogamos e exhortamos no Senhor Jesus, que, assim como recebestes de nós, como vos convenha andar e agradar a Deus, assim n'isto abundeis cada vez mais.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
Porque vós bem sabeis que mandamentos vos temos dado pelo Senhor Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from immorality:
Porque esta é a vontade de Deus, a vossa sanctificação: que vos abstenhaes da fornicação;
4 That each one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
Que cada um de vós saiba possuir o seu vaso em sanctificação e honra;
5 Not in the lust of passion, even as the Gentiles who know not God:
Não em sensualidade de concupiscencia, como os gentios, que não conhecem a Deus.
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
Ninguem opprima nem engane a seu irmão em negocio algum, porque o Senhor é vingador de todas estas coisas, como tambem já d'antes vol-o dissemos e testificámos.
7 For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but to holiness.
Porque não nos chamou Deus para a immundicia, senão para a sanctificação.
8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given to us his Holy Spirit.
Porque quem despreza isto não despreza ao homem, mas sim a Deus, o qual nos deu tambem o seu Espirito Sancto.
9 But concerning brotherly love ye need not that I write to you: for ye yourselves are taught by God to love one another.
Emquanto, porém, á caridade fraternal, não necessitaes de que vos escreva, porque já vós mesmos estaes instruidos por Deus que vos ameis uns aos outros.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
Porque tambem já assim o fazeis, para com todos os irmãos que estão por toda a Macedonia. Exhortamo-vos, porém, irmãos, a que ainda n'isto abundeis cada vez mais
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
E procureis viver quietos, e tratar dos vossos proprios negocios, e trabalhar com vossas proprias mãos, como já vol-o temos mandado;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are outside the church, and that ye may have need of nothing.
Para que andeis honestamente para com os que estão de fóra, e não necessiteis de coisa alguma.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.
Não quero, porém, irmãos, que sejaes ignorantes ácerca dos que já dormem, para que vos não entristeçaes, como tambem os demais, que não teem esperança.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
Porque, se crêmos que Jesus morreu e resuscitou, assim tambem aos que em Jesus dormem Deus os tornará a trazer com elle.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain to the coming of the Lord shall not precede them who are asleep.
Dizemo-vos portanto isto pela palavra do Senhor: que nós, os que ficarmos vivos para a vinda do Senhor, não precederemos os que dormem.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Porque o mesmo Senhor descerá do céu com alarido, e com voz de archanjo, e com a trombeta de Deus; e os que morreram em Christo resuscitarão primeiro.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Depois nós, os que ficarmos vivos, seremos arrebatados juntamente com elles nas nuvens, a encontrar o Senhor nos ares, e assim estaremos sempre com o Senhor.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Portanto, consolae-vos uns aos outros com estas palavras.
