< 1 Peter 2 >
1 Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Tahmenhaih hoiah kakoi Sithaw to na pataengh o boeh pongah, sethaihnawk, alinghaihnawk, angsakcophaih,
2 As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that ye may grow by it:
uthaih hoi loksae apaehhaihnawk to takhoe o boih ah loe, tapen kangtha nawkta baktih toengah,
3 If indeed ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
kaciim tahnutui Sithaw lok to koeh oh, to tiah ni na qoeng o thai tih.
4 To whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious,
Kaminawk mah pahnawt o sut, toe Sithaw mah qoih ih atho kaom, kahing thlung khaeah nang zoh o pongah,
5 Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
nangcae doeh Muithla qoeng hanah im sakhaih kahing thlung baktih, ciimcai qaima baktiah na oh o boeh moe, Jesu Kri rang hoiah Sithaw mah talawk ih muithla angbawnhaih hmuen tathlang kami ah na oh o toeng boeh.
6 Therefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
To pongah Cabu thungah doeh, Khenah, atho kaom qoih ih im takii ih thlung to Zion mae nuiah ka suek: anih tang kami loe azathaih tong mak ai, tiah oh.
7 To you therefore who believe he is precious: but to them who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner,
To pongah tanghaih tawn nangcae hanah, anih loe kating ai atho oh: toe tang ai kaminawk hanah loe atho om ai, Im sah kaminawk mah pahnawt o sut ih thlung loe, kalen koek im takii ih thlung ah oh boeh,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them who stumble at the word, being disobedient: to this also they were appointed.
lok tahngai ai kaminawk hanah loe amthaekhaih thlung hoi amtimhaih lungsong ah oh.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a special people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Toe vinghaih thung hoi aanghaih thungah kakawk, Anih to na pakoeh o thai hanah, nangcae loe qoih ih kami, siangpahrang ih qaima toksah kami, kaciim acaeng, pahoe ih kami ah na oh o:
10 Who in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
canghniah loe anih ih kami ah na om o ai, toe vaihi loe Sithaw kami ah na oh o boeh: canghniah loe anih palungnathaih to na hnu o ai, toe vaihi loe a palungnathaih to na hnuk o boeh.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Palung ih kaminawk, Angvin hoi kholong caeh kami baktiah na oh o pongah, hinghaih pakhra misa ah kaom taksa koehhaih hmuennawk to ayae hanah kang pacae o;
12 Having your behaviour honest among the Gentiles: that, though they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
nihcae mah nangcae to kahoih ai hmuen sah kami ah poek o cadoeh, aicae khae Sithaw angzoh na niah, nihcae mah na sak o ih kahoih hmuen to hnuk o thai hanah, Gentelnawk salakah kahoih tuinuen hoiah khosah oh.
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
Angraeng koehhaih baktiah, ukkungnawk tlim ah khosah oh; kasang koek siangpahrang maw,
14 Or to governors, as to them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
to tih ai boeh loe kasae hmuen sah kaminawk to danpaek moe, kahoih hmuen sah kaminawk pakoeh hanah, kaminawk uk hanah Anih mah patoeh ih, ukkungnawk tlim ah khosah oh.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Tidoeh panoek ai kamthunawk to na ngam o sak duem hanah, hmuen kahoih sak hanah Sithaw mah koeh haih.
16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Na loih o boeh, toe to loihhaih to zae sak aephaih bangah patoh ai ah, Sithaw ih tamna ah om oh.
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Kami boih khingya oh. Nawkamyanawk to palung oh. Siangpahrang to khingya oh.
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the perverse.
Tamnanawk, zithaih hoiah nangmacae ukkungnawk khaeah angpaek oh; kahoih moe, poeknaem ukkungnawk khae khue ah na ai, poek kaham ukkungnawk khaeah doeh angpaek oh.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endureth grief, suffering wrongfully.
Sithaw poekhaih tawnh pongah, sakpazaehaih om ai ah pacaekthlaekhaih hoi patangkhanghaih tongh kami loe pakoeh han krak.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye are buffeted for your faults, ye bear it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye bear it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even to this were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Hae tiah oh han ih ni ang kawk o: Kri doeh aicae hanah patangkhang toeng, anih ih khok tangkanh na pazui o hanah, aicae khet koi kaom ah a sak boeh:
22 Who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Anih loe zaehaih sah ai, Anih pakhaa ah amsawnlok thuihaih om ai:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
minawk mah anih kasae thuih o naah, anih mah kasaethuihaih hoiah pathok let ai; anih patangkhang naah, minawk to pazih ai; toe katoengah lokcaekkung khaeah angmah hoi angmah to angpaek:
24 Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
zae pongah duek han kaom kaminawk toenghaih hoiah hing o thai hanah, aicae zaehaih to a tak pum hoiah phawh moe, thinglam nuiah angbangh: anih ih kana ahmaa rang hoiah nangcae ngan na tui o.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Nangcae loe lam kamkhraeng tuu baktiah na oh o; toe vaihi loe nangcae ih pakhra khenzawnkung hoi tuutoepkung khaeah nam laem o let boeh.
