1 Kings 20
1 And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.
അരാംരാജാവായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവനോടുകൂടെ മുപ്പത്തുരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരും കുതിരകളും രഥങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു ശമര്യയെ നിരോധിച്ചു അതിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.
2 And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said to him, Thus saith Benhadad,
അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു അവനോടു:
3 Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the most comely, are mine.
നിന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും എനിക്കുള്ളതു; നിന്റെ സൗന്ദര്യമേറിയ ഭാര്യമാരും പുത്രന്മാരും എനിക്കുള്ളവർ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
4 And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.
അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞാനും എനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കുള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.
5 And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent to thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver to me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;
ദൂതന്മാർ വീണ്ടും വന്നു: ബെൻ-ഹദദ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: നിന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും എനിക്കു തരേണമെന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവല്ലോ;
6 Yet I will send my servants to thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thy house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatever is pleasant in thy eyes, they shall take it in their hand, and carry it away.
നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കും; അവർ നിന്റെ അരമനയും നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ വീടുകളും ശോധനചെയ്തു നിനക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കൈക്കലാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ദേശത്തുള്ള എല്ലാമൂപ്പന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി: അവൻ ദോഷം ഭാവിക്കുന്നതു നോക്കിക്കാണ്മിൻ; എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും എന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും അവൻ ആളയച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ വിരോധിച്ചില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8 And all the elders and all the people said to him, Hearken not to him, nor consent.
എല്ലാമൂപ്പന്മാരും സകലജനവും അവനോടു: നീ കേൾക്കരുതു, സമ്മതിക്കയും അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 Therefore he said to the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.
ആകയാൽ അവൻ ബെൻ-ഹദദിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു: നീ ആദ്യം അടിയന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം; എന്നാൽ ഈ കാര്യം എനിക്കു ചെയ്‌വാൻ കഴിവില്ല എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൂതന്മാർ ചെന്നു ഈ മറുപടി ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു
10 And Benhadad sent to him, and said, The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.
ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: എന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാ പടജ്ജനത്തിന്നും കൈക്കു ഓരോ പിടിവാരുവാൻ ശമര്യയിലെ പൊടി മതിയാകുമെങ്കിൽ ദേവന്മാർ എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
11 And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armour boast himself as he that putteth it off.
അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു: വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടുന്നവൻ അഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ വമ്പുപറയരുതു എന്നു അവനോടു പറവിൻ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12 And it came to pass, when Benhadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.
എന്നാൽ അവനും രാജാക്കന്മാരും മണിപ്പന്തലിൽ കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഒരുങ്ങിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നൊരുങ്ങി.
13 And, behold, there came a prophet to Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thy hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
എന്നാൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഈ മഹാസംഘത്തെ ഒക്കെയും നീ കണ്ടുവോ? ഞാൻ ഇന്നു അതിനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; ഞാൻ യഹോവ എന്നു നീ അറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.
ആരെക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു ആഹാബ് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൻ: ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരെക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആർ പട തുടങ്ങേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: നീ തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
15 Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty and two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
അവൻ ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരെ എണ്ണി നോക്കി; അവർ ഇരുനൂറ്റിമുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരായിരുന്നു. അവരുടെശേഷം അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയൊക്കെയും എണ്ണി ഏഴായിരം പേർ എന്നു കണ്ടു.
16 And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.
അവർ ഉച്ചസമയത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; എന്നാൽ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് തനിക്കു തുണയായിരുന്ന മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ മണിപ്പന്തലിൽ കുടിച്ചുമത്തനായിരുന്നു.
17 And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ആദ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ബെൻ-ഹദദ് ആളയച്ചു അന്വേഷിച്ചാറെ ശമര്യയിൽനിന്നു ആളുകൾ വരുന്നുണ്ടെന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.
18 And he said, Whether they have come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they have come out for war, take them alive.
അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: അവർ സമാധാനത്തിന്നു വരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിൻ; അവർ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
19 So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.
പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നതോ, ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരും അവരെ തുടർന്നുപോന്ന സൈന്യവും ആയിരുന്നു.
20 And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.
അവർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നവനെ കൊന്നു; അരാമ്യർ ഓടിപ്പോയി; യിസ്രായേൽ അവരെ പിന്തുടർന്നു; അരാംരാജാവായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി കുതിരച്ചേവകരോടുകൂടെ ചാടിപ്പോയി.
21 And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.
പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു കുതിരകളെയും രഥങ്ങളെയും പിടിച്ചു; അരാമ്യരെ കഠിനമായി തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
22 And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said to him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ആ പ്രവാചകൻ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവനോടു: ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു നീ ചെയ്യുന്നതു കരുതിക്കൊൾക; ഇനിയത്തെ ആണ്ടിൽ അരാംരാജാവു നിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23 And the servants of the king of Syria said to him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
അരാംരാജാവിനോടു അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞതു: അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാർ പർവ്വതദേവന്മാരാകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടത്രെ അവർ നമ്മെ തോല്പിച്ചതു; സമഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു അവരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്താൽ നാം അവരെ തോല്പിക്കും.
24 And do this thing, Take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their places:
അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യേണം: ആ രാജാക്കന്മാരെ അവനവന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു മാറ്റി അവർക്കു പകരം ദേശാധിപതിമാരെ നിയമിക്കേണം.
25 And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened to their voice, and did so.
പിന്നെ നിനക്കു നഷ്ടമായ്പോയ സൈന്യത്തിന്നു സമമായോരു സൈന്യത്തെയും കുതിരപ്പടെക്കു സമമായ കുതിരപ്പടയെയും രഥങ്ങൾക്കു സമമായ രഥങ്ങളെയും ഒരുക്കിക്കൊൾക; എന്നിട്ടു നാം സമഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു അവരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ക; നാം അവരെ തോല്പിക്കും നിശ്ചയം. അവൻ അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു.
26 And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.
പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടിൽ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അരാമ്യരെ എണ്ണിനോക്കി യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്‌വാൻ അഫേക്കിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു.
27 And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.
യിസ്രായേല്യരെയും എണ്ണിനോക്കി; അവർ ഭക്ഷണപദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ എടുത്തു അവരുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യിസ്രായേല്യർ ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളുടെ രണ്ടു ചെറിയ കൂട്ടംപോലെ അവരുടെ നേരെ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; അരാമ്യരോ ദേശത്തു നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
28 And there came a man of God, and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thy hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷൻ അടുത്തുവന്നു യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവിനോടു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: യഹോവ പർവ്വതദേവനാകുന്നു; താഴ്‌വരദേവനല്ല എന്നു അരാമ്യർ പറകകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ഈ മഹാസംഘത്തെ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; ഞാൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 And they encamped opposite one another seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.
എന്നാൽ അവർ അവരുടെ നേരെ ഏഴു ദിവസം പാളയം ഇറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു; ഏഴാം ദിവസം പടയുണ്ടായി; യിസ്രായേല്യർ അരാമ്യരിൽ ഒരു ലക്ഷം കാലാളുകളെ ഒരു ദിവസം തന്നേ കൊന്നു.
30 But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Benhadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
ശേഷിച്ചവർ അഫേക്ക് പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി; ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ഇരുപത്തേഴായിരം പേരുടെമേൽ പട്ടണമതിൽ വീണു. ബെൻ-ഹദദും ഓടി പട്ടണത്തിന്നകത്തു കടന്നു ഒരു ഉള്ളറയിൽ ഒളിച്ചു.
31 And his servants said to him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: perhaps he will save thy life.
അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹത്തിലെ രാജാക്കന്മാർ ദയയുള്ള രാജാക്കന്മാർ എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; ഞങ്ങൾ അരെക്കു രട്ടും തലയിൽ കയറും കെട്ടി യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ അവൻ നിന്നെ ജീവനോടു രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Benhadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ അരെക്കു രട്ടും തലയിൽ കയറും കെട്ടി യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിന്റെ ദാസനായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: അവൻ ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവൻ എന്റെ സഹോദരൻ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33 Now the men diligently observed whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ അതു ശുഭല്കഷണം എന്നു ധരിച്ചു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ വാക്കു പിടിച്ചു: അതേ, നിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ ചെന്നു അവനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തേക്കു വന്നു; അവൻ അവനെ രഥത്തിൽ കയറ്റി.
34 And Benhadad said to him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
അവൻ അവനോടു: എന്റെ അപ്പൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനോടു പിടിച്ചടക്കിയ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ ഞാൻ മടക്കിത്തരാം; എന്റെ അപ്പൻ ശമര്യയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതു പോലെ നീ ദമ്മേശെക്കിൽ നിനക്കു തെരുവീഥികളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു ആഹാബ്: ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയിന്മേൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിട്ടയക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ അവനോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.
35 And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.
എന്നാൽ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം തന്റെ ചങ്ങാതിയോടു: എന്നെ അടിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ അവന്നു അവനെ അടിപ്പാൻ മനസ്സായില്ല.
36 Then said he to him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou hast departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
അവൻ അവനോടു: നീ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു നീ എന്നെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ട ഉടനെ ഒരു സിംഹം നിന്നെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവനെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ട ഉടനെ ഒരു സിംഹം അവനെ കണ്ടു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.
37 Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.
പിന്നെ അവൻ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കണ്ടു: എന്നെ അടിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവനെ അടിച്ചു മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.
38 So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.
പ്രവാചകൻ ചെന്നു വഴിയിൽ രാജാവിനെ കാത്തിരുന്നു; അവൻ തലപ്പാവു കണ്ണുവരെ താഴ്ത്തിക്കെട്ടി വേഷംമാറി നിന്നു.
39 And as the king passed by, he cried to the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he shall be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
രാജാവു കടന്നു പോകുമ്പോൾ അവൻ രാജാവിനോടു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു: അടിയൻ പടയുടെ നടുവിൽ ചെന്നിരുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ഒരുത്തൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരാളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു: ഇവനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണം; ഇവനെ കാണാതെപോയാൽ നിന്റെ ജീവൻ അവന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം ഇരിക്കും; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നീ ഒരു താലന്ത് വെള്ളി തൂക്കി തരേണ്ടിവരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
40 And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said to him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.
എന്നാൽ അടിയൻ അങ്ങുമിങ്ങും ബദ്ധപ്പാടായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവനെ കാണാതെപോയി. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു അവനോടു: നിന്റെ വിധി അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ; നീ തന്നേ തീർച്ചയാക്കിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
41 And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel knew that he was of the prophets.
തൽക്ഷണം അവൻ കണ്ണിന്മേൽനിന്നു തലപ്പാവു നീക്കി; അപ്പോൾ അവൻ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു അറിഞ്ഞു.
42 And he said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.
അവൻ അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടു ഞാൻ നിയമിച്ച ആളെ നീ വിട്ടയച്ചുകളകകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ അവന്റെ ജീവന്നും നിന്റെ ജനം അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും പകരമായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു വ്യസനവും നീരസവും ഉള്ളവനായി അരമനയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശമര്യയിൽ എത്തി.
