1 Kings 13
1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD to Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
Da kam ein Gottesmann aus Juda auf des Herrn Geheiß nach Betel. Jeroboam stand gerade am Altar, um zu räuchern.
2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
Jener rief gegen den Altar auf des Herrn Geheiß und sprach: "Altar! Altar! So spricht der Herr: 'Ein Sohn wird einst dem Davidshaus geboren. Josias ist sein Name. Er wird auf dir die Höhenpriester schlachten, die auf dir räuchern, und Menschenknochen wird man dann auf dir verbrennen.'"
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be split apart, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
Auch gab er an jenem Tage ein Wahrzeichen an. Er sagte: "Dies ist das Wahrzeichen, das der Herr gibt: Der Altar wird zerbersten und die Fettasche darauf verschüttet werden."
4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, who had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it to him again.
Der König aber hörte des Gottesmannes Wort, das dieser gegen den Altar zu Betel ausgesprochen. Da streckte Jeroboam seine Hand vom Altar herab und sprach: "Ergreifet ihn!" Da verdorrte seine Hand, die er gegen ihn ausgestreckt hatte. Er konnte sie nicht mehr an sich ziehen.
5 The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
Und der Altar barst, und die Fettasche ward vom Altare herab verschüttet, nach dem Wahrzeichen, das der Gottesmann auf des Herrn Geheiß angegeben hatte.
6 And the king answered and said to the man of God, Entreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored to him again, and became as it was before.
Da hob der König an und sprach zum Gottesmann: "Begütige doch den Herrn, deinen Gott, und bete für mich, daß ich wieder meine Hand an mich ziehen kann!" Da begütigte der Gottesmann den Herrn, und des Königs Hand kam wieder zu ihm zurück. Sie ward wie zuvor.
7 And the king said to the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.
Da sprach der König zu dem Gottesmann: "Komm zu mir ins Haus und labe dich! Ich will dir ein Geschenk geben."
8 And the man of God said to the king, If thou wilt give me half thy house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:
Da sprach der Gottesmann zum König: "Gäbest du mir auch die Hälfte deines Hauses, so käme ich nicht mit dir. Ich esse weder Brot, noch trinke ich Wasser an diesem Orte.
9 For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
Denn so hat man mir durch des Herrn Worte befohlen: 'Iß kein Brot und trinke kein Wasser und gehe den Weg nicht wieder, den du gegangen bist!'"
10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.
So ging er auch einen anderen Weg und kehrte nicht auf dem Weg zurück, auf dem er nach Betel gekommen war.
11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken to the king, them they told also to their father.
Nun wohnte zu Betel ein alter Prophet. Seine Söhne kamen und erzählten ihm alles, was damals der Gottesmann zu Betel getan, und die Worte, die er zum König gesprochen. Als sie das ihrem Vater erzählten,
12 And their father said to them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
fragte sie ihr Vater: "Welchen Weg ist er von dannen gezogen?" Da wiesen ihm seine Söhne den Weg, den der Gottesmann aus Juda gezogen war.
13 And he said to his sons, Saddle me the donkey. So they saddled him the donkey: and he rode on it,
Er sprach zu seinen Söhnen: "Sattelt mir den Esel!" Sie sattelten ihm den Esel, und er bestieg ihn.
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said to him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
So ritt er dem Gottesmanne nach und fand ihn unter einer Terebinthe sitzen. Dieser sprach zu ihm: "Bist du der Gottesmann aus Juda?" Er sprach: "Ja."
15 Then he said to him, Come home with me, and eat bread.
Da sprach er zu ihm: "Geh mit mir heim und iß Brot!"
16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
Er sprach: "Ich kann nicht mit dir umkehren und dich begleiten. Ich esse an diesem Ort kein Brot und trinke bei dir kein Wasser.
17 For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
Denn ein Wort ist an mich ergangen auf des Herrn Geheiß hin: 'Du darfst kein Brot essen und dort kein Wasser trinken. Du darfst nicht auf dem Wege, den du gegangen, zurückgehen.'"
18 He said to him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him.
Da sprach er zu ihm: "Auch ich bin ein Prophet wie du. Ein Engel hat eben zu mir auf des Herrn Geheiß hin gesprochen: 'Bring ihn wieder mit dir heim, daß er Brot esse und Wasser trinke!'" So belog er ihn.
19 So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.
Da kehrte er mit ihm um und aß in seinem Hause Brot und trank Wasser.
20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came to the prophet that brought him back:
Sie saßen eben bei Tische. Da erging das Wort des Herrn an den Propheten, der ihn zurückgeholt hatte.
21 And he cried to the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,
Und er rief dem Gottesmanne aus Juda also zu: "So spricht der Herr: 'Verletzt hast du des Herrn Befehl, nicht das Gebot befolgt, das dir der Herr, dein Gott, gegeben.
22 But hast returned, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of which the LORD said to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy body shall not come to the sepulchre of thy fathers.
Du kehrtest um und aßest Brot und trankest Wasser an dem Ort, von dem er dir gesagt: "Iß weder Brot noch trinke Wasser!" So kommt dein Leichnam nicht in deiner Väter Grab.'"
23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the donkey, that is, for the prophet whom he had brought back.
Nachdem er Brot gegessen und hernach getrunken hatte, sattelte er ihm den Esel, dem Propheten, den er zurückgeholt hatte.
24 And when he had gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his body was cast in the way, and the donkey stood by it, the lion also stood by the body.
So zog er fort. Da traf ihn unterwegs ein Löwe und tötete ihn. Sein Leichnam lag ausgestreckt auf dem Weg. Und der Esel stand daneben. Auch der Löwe blieb neben dem Leichnam stehen.
25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
Da kamen Leute vorüber und sahen den Leichnam auf dem Wege liegen und den Löwen bei dem Leichnam stehen. Da kamen sie und erzählten es in der Stadt, wo der alte Prophet wohnte.
26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient to the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him to the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke to him.
Dies hörte der Prophet, der ihn zurückgeholt hatte. Da sprach er: "Das ist der Gottesmann, der des Herrn Befehl verletzt hat. So gab der Herr ihn dem Löwen preis, der ihn zermalmte und tötete gemäß des Herrn Wort, das er zu ihm geredet hatte."
27 And he spoke to his sons, saying, Saddle me the donkey. And they saddled him.
Dann sprach er zu seinen Söhnen: "Sattelt mir den Esel!" Sie sattelten ihn.
28 And he went and found his body cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body: the lion had not eaten the body, nor torn the donkey.
Da zog er fort und fand den Leichnam auf dem Wege liegen und neben dem Leichnam den Esel und den Löwen stehen. Der Löwe hatte den Leichnam nicht gefressen und den Esel nicht zermalmt.
29 And the prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it upon the donkey, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.
Da hob der Prophet den Leichnam des Gottesmannes auf, legte ihn auf den Esel und brachte ihn zurück. So kam der alte Prophet wieder zurück, die Klage zu halten und ihn zu begraben.
30 And he laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!
Er legte seinen Leichnam in sein eigenes Grab. Und sie hielten um ihn die Klage: "Ach, mein Bruder!"
31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
Nachdem er ihn begraben hatte, sprach er zu seinen Söhnen: "Wenn ich sterbe, begrabt mich in dem Grabe, in dem der Gottesmann begraben ist! Neben seine Gebeine legt meine Gebeine!
32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
Denn das Wort trifft ein, das er auf des Herrn Geheiß ausgesprochen gegen den Altar zu Betel und alle Höhenhäuser in Samarias Städten."
33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Trotzdem hatte Jeroboam nicht von seinem schlimmen Wandel gelassen; er bestellte vielmehr wieder von des Volkes Vornehmen Höhenpriester. Jeden, der es wünschte, setzte er als Höhenpriester ein.
34 And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from the face of the earth.
Er ward dadurch zur Sünde für Jeroboams Haus und Anlaß zur Vernichtung und Vertilgung vom Erdboden.
