Zechariah 1
1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,
Au huitième mois, en la seconde année du roi Darius, la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Zacharie, le prophète, fils de Barachie, fils d’Addo, disant:
2 “Yahweh was exceedingly angry with your fathers!
Le courroux du Seigneur a été irrité contre vos pères.
3 Say to them, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn to me!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts— and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts.
Et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Revenez à moi, dit le Seigneur des armées, et je reviendrai à vous, dit le Seigneur des armées.
4 Do not be like your fathers to whom the prophets cried out previously, saying, “Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn from your evil ways and wicked practices!” But they would not hear and did not pay attention to me—this is Yahweh's declaration.'
Ne soyez pas comme vos pères auxquels les prophètes antérieurs criaient en disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Revenez de vos voies mauvaises et de vos pensées très mauvaises; et ils ne m’ont pas écouté, et ils n’ont pas fait attention à moi, dit le Seigneur.
5 Your fathers, where are they? Where are the prophets, are they here forever?
Vos pères, où sont ils? et les prophètes, est-ce qu’ils vivront éternellement?
6 But my words and my decrees that I commanded my servants the prophets, have they not overtaken your fathers? So they repented and said, 'Just as Yahweh of hosts planned to do to us what our ways and actions deserved, so he has dealt with us.'”
Mais cependant mes paroles et mes décrets, que j’ai confiés à mes serviteurs les prophètes, est-ce qu’ils n’ont pas atteint vos pères, et est-ce qu’ils se sont convertis, et ont dit: Comme le Seigneur des armées avait résolu de nous faire selon nos voies et selon nos inventions, ainsi il a fait?
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,
Le vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois appelé Sabath, en la deuxième année du roi Darius, la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Zacharie, le prophète, fils de Barachie, fils d’Addo, disant:
8 “I saw in the night, and, look! a man was riding on a red horse, and he was among the myrtle trees that are in the valley; and behind him there were red, reddish-brown, and white horses.”
Je vis pendant la nuit; et voilà un homme monté sur un cheval roux, et il se tenait parmi les myrtes qui étaient dans un lieu profond; et après lui des chevaux roux, mouchetés et blancs.
9 I said, “What are these things, Lord?” Then the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these things are.”
Et je dis: Qui sont ceux-ci, ô mon Seigneur? Et l’ange, qui parlait en moi, me répondit: Moi, je t’indiquerai ce que ceci signifie.
10 Then the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those Yahweh has sent out to roam throughout the earth.”
Et l’homme qui se tenait parmi les myrtes répondit, et dit: Ceux-ci sont ceux qu’a envoyés le Seigneur, afin qu’ils parcourent la terre.
11 They answered the angel of Yahweh who stood among the myrtle trees; they said to him, “We have been roaming throughout the earth; see, all the earth sits still and is at rest.”
Et ils répondirent à l’ange du Seigneur, qui se tenait parmi les myrtes, et dirent: Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voilà que toute la terre est habitée, et est en repos.
12 Then the angel of Yahweh answered and said, “Yahweh of hosts, how long will you show no compassion to Jerusalem and to the cities of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?”
Et l’ange du Seigneur reprit et dit: Seigneur des armées, jusqu’à quand n’aurez-vous point pitié de Jérusalem, et des villes de Juda contre lesquelles vous êtes irrité? C’est déjà la soixante et dixième année.
13 Yahweh answered the angel who had talked with me, with good words, words of comfort.
Et le Seigneur répondit à l’ange qui parlait en moi de bonne paroles, des paroles de consolation.
14 So the angel who had talked with me said to me, “Call out and say, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: I have been jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great passion!
Et l’ange qui parlait en moi me dit: Crie en disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Je brûle pour Jérusalem et pour Sion d’un très grand zèle.
15 I am very angry with the nations that are at ease. When I was only a little angry with them, they made the disaster worse.
Et je suis aussi enflammé d’une très grande colère contre les nations opulentes, parce que, quand moi je n’ai été qu’un peu irrité, elles, au contraire, ont aidé au châtiment.
16 Therefore Yahweh of hosts says this: I have returned to Jerusalem with mercies. My house will be built within her —this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts—and the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem!'
À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Je reviendrai à Jérusalem avec des sentiments de miséricorde; et ma maison y sera bâtie, dit le Seigneur des armées, et le niveau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.
17 Again call out, saying, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: My cities will once again overflow with goodness, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and he will once again choose Jerusalem.'”
Crie encore, en disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Mes cités regorgeront encore de biens; le Seigneur consolera encore Sion, et il choisira encore Jérusalem.
18 Then I lifted up my eyes and saw four horns!
Et j’ai levé mes yeux, et j’ai vu; et voilà quatre cornes.
19 I spoke to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
Et j’ai dit à l’ange qui parlait en moi: Qu’est ceci? et il me répondit: Ce sont les cornes qui ont jeté au vent Juda, Israël et Jérusalem.
20 Then Yahweh showed me four craftsmen.
Et le Seigneur me montra quatre ouvriers.
21 I said, “What are these people coming to do?” He answered, and said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no man would lift up his head. But the blacksmiths have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations that lifted up a horn against the land of Judah to scatter her.”
Et je dis: Que viennent faire ceux-ci? Il répondit en disant: Voilà les cornes qui ont jeté au vent, homme par homme, tous les habitants de Juda, et aucun d’eux n’a levé sa tête; et ceux-ci sont venus les épouvanter, afin d’abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé la corne contre la terre de Juda pour la disperser.
