Zechariah 1

1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

În luna a opta, în anul al doilea al lui Darius, a venit cuvântul DOMNULUI la profetul Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul profetului Ido, spunând:

2 “Yahweh was exceedingly angry with your fathers!

DOMNUL s-a înfuriat pe părinţii voştri.

3 Say to them, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn to me!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts— and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts.

De aceea spune-le: Astfel spune DOMNUL oştirilor: Întoarceţi-vă la mine, spune DOMNUL oştirilor şi eu mă voi întoarce la voi, spune DOMNUL oştirilor.

4 Do not be like your fathers to whom the prophets cried out previously, saying, “Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn from your evil ways and wicked practices!” But they would not hear and did not pay attention to me—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

Nu fiţi ca părinţii voştri, la care au strigat profeţii dinainte, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL oştirilor: Întoarceţi-vă acum de la căile voastre rele şi de la faptele voastre rele; dar nu au auzit, nici nu mi-au dat ascultare, spune DOMNUL.

5 Your fathers, where are they? Where are the prophets, are they here forever?

Părinţii voştri, unde sunt ei? Şi profeţii, trăiesc ei pentru totdeauna?

6 But my words and my decrees that I commanded my servants the prophets, have they not overtaken your fathers? So they repented and said, 'Just as Yahweh of hosts planned to do to us what our ways and actions deserved, so he has dealt with us.'”

Dar cuvintele mele şi statutele mele pe care le-am poruncit servitorilor mei, profeţii, nu i-au apucat ele pe părinţii voştri? Şi ei s-au întors şi au spus: Precum DOMNUL oştirilor a gândit să ne facă, conform căilor noastre şi conform faptelor noastre, astfel s-a purtat el cu noi.

7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

În ziua a douăzeci şi patra a lunii a unsprezecea, care este luna Şebat, în anul al doilea al lui Darius, a venit cuvântul DOMNULUI la profetul Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul profetului Ido, spunând:

8 “I saw in the night, and, look! a man was riding on a red horse, and he was among the myrtle trees that are in the valley; and behind him there were red, reddish-brown, and white horses.”

Am văzut în noapte şi iată, un om călărind pe un cal roşu şi stătea între pomii de mirt care erau jos; şi în urma lui erau acolo cai roşii, pestriţi şi albi.

9 I said, “What are these things, Lord?” Then the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these things are.”

Atunci am spus: Ce sunt aceştia, domnul meu? Şi îngerul care vorbea cu mine mi-a zis: Îţi voi arăta ce sunt aceştia.

10 Then the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those Yahweh has sent out to roam throughout the earth.”

Şi bărbatul care stătea între pomii de mirt a răspuns şi a zis: Aceştia sunt cei pe care DOMNUL i-a trimis să umble încoace şi încolo pe pământ.

11 They answered the angel of Yahweh who stood among the myrtle trees; they said to him, “We have been roaming throughout the earth; see, all the earth sits still and is at rest.”

Şi ei au răspuns îngerului DOMNULUI, care stătea între pomii de mirt, şi au zis: Noi am umblat încoace şi încolo pe pământ şi, iată, tot pământul şade liniştit şi este în odihnă.

12 Then the angel of Yahweh answered and said, “Yahweh of hosts, how long will you show no compassion to Jerusalem and to the cities of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?”

Atunci îngerul DOMNULUI a răspuns şi a zis: DOAMNE al oştirilor, până când nu vei avea milă de Ierusalim şi de cetăţile lui Iuda, împotriva cărora te-ai indignat aceşti şaptezeci de ani?

13 Yahweh answered the angel who had talked with me, with good words, words of comfort.

Şi DOMNUL a răspuns îngerului care vorbea cu mine, cuvinte bune şi cuvinte mângâietoare.

14 So the angel who had talked with me said to me, “Call out and say, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: I have been jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great passion!

Astfel îngerul care vorbea cu mine îndeaproape, mi-a zis: Strigă, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL oştirilor: Sunt gelos, cu o mare gelozie, pentru Ierusalim şi pentru Sion.

15 I am very angry with the nations that are at ease. When I was only a little angry with them, they made the disaster worse.

Şi mă înfurii pe păgânii care sunt în tihnă; fiindcă eu eram numai puţin înfuriat iar ei au ajutat nenorocirii.

16 Therefore Yahweh of hosts says this: I have returned to Jerusalem with mercies. My house will be built within her —this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts—and the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem!'

De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL: M-am întors la Ierusalim cu îndurări; casa mea va fi construită în el, spune DOMNUL oştirilor, şi o frânghie de măsurat va fi întinsă peste Ierusalim.

17 Again call out, saying, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: My cities will once again overflow with goodness, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and he will once again choose Jerusalem.'”

Strigă totuşi, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL oştirilor: Cetăţile mele, prin prosperitate, vor fi împrăştiate peste tot şi DOMNUL va mângâia încă Sionul şi va alege încă Ierusalimul.

18 Then I lifted up my eyes and saw four horns!

Atunci mi-am ridicat ochii şi am văzut şi iată, patru coarne.

19 I spoke to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

Şi am spus îngerului care vorbea cu mine: Ce sunt acestea? Şi el mi-a răspuns: Acestea sunt coarnele care au împrăştiat pe Iuda, pe Israel şi Ierusalimul.

20 Then Yahweh showed me four craftsmen.

Şi DOMNUL mi-a arătat patru tâmplari.

21 I said, “What are these people coming to do?” He answered, and said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no man would lift up his head. But the blacksmiths have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations that lifted up a horn against the land of Judah to scatter her.”

Atunci eu am zis: Ce vin aceştia să facă? Iar el a vorbit, spunând: Acestea sunt coarnele care au împrăştiat pe Iuda, astfel încât niciun om nu şi-a ridicat capul; dar aceştia au venit să le sperie, ca să alunge coarnele neamurilor care şi-au înălţat cornul împotriva ţării lui Iuda pentru a o împrăştia.
