< Ruth 4 >

1 Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there. Soon, the near kinsman of whom Boaz had spoken came by. Boaz said to him, “My friend, come over and sit down here.” The man came over and sat down.
Boaz loe khongkha taengah caeh tahang moe, to ah anghnut. Khenah, anih mah thuih ih canawk maeto loe anih taengah angzoh, to naah Boaz mah, Aw ampui nang, angzoh loe, hae ah anghnu ah, tiah a naa. To pongah anih loe caeh moe, anghnut.
2 Then Boaz took ten men of the elders of the city and said, “Sit down here.” So they sat down.
Boaz mah vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk hato hoih moe, Hae ah anghnu o raeh, tiah a naa. A thuih ih baktih toengah nihcae doeh anghnut o.
3 Boaz said to the near kinsman, “Naomi, who has returned from the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land that was our brother Elimelek's.
To naah a canawk khaeah, Moab prae hoiah amlaem let, Naomi mah aicae amya Elimalek ih lawk hmuen to a zawh;
4 I thought to inform you and say to you, 'Buy it in the presence of those who are sitting here, and in the presence of the elders of my people.' If you wish to redeem it, redeem it. But if you do not wish to redeem it, then tell me, so that I may know, for there is no one to redeem it besides you, and I am after you.” Then the other man said, “I will redeem it.”
Anih mah, Ka krang han hmang, tiah a naa.
5 Then Boaz said, “On the day that you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also take Ruth the Moabite woman, the widow of a dead man, in order to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.”
To naah Boaz mah, Naomi khae ih lawk hmuen na qan na niah, kadueh kami ih hmuen hoi anih ih ahmin panoek poe thai hanah, anih ih zu Moab nongpata Ruth to doeh na qan han oh, tiah a naa.

To naah angmah ih canawk mah, Kaimah hanah long ka krang thai mak ai; ka krang nahaeloe kaimah ih qawk to kam rosak moeng tih; to pongah nangmah taham ah nang mah akrang halat ah, tiah a naa.
7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning the redemption and exchange of goods. To confirm all things, a man took off his shoe and gave it to his neighbor; this was the manner of making legal agreements in Israel.
Canghniah Israel kaminawk mah, hmuen akranghaih hoi anglaihaih kawng pongah, hmuen boih caksak hanah, kami maeto mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring moe, kalah maeto khaeah paek: hae tiah Israel kaminawk salakah a sak o.
8 So the near kinsman said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself,” and he took off his sandal.
To pongah a canawk ah kaom kami mah Boaz khaeah, Nangmah hanah qan ah, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring.
9 Then Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, “You are witnesses today that I have bought all that was Elimelek's and all that was Kilion's and Mahlon's from the hand of Naomi.
To naah Boaz mah kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih hmaa ah, Kai mah, vaihniah Naomi ih ban khae hoiah, Elimelek, Kilion hoi Mahlon ih lawk hmuen hae ka qan boeh, tiah nangcae loe panoekkung ah na oh o.
10 Also Ruth the Moabite woman, the wife of Mahlon, I have acquired to be my wife, in order that I might raise up the name of the dead man on his inheritance, so that his name will not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. Today you are witnesses!”
Mahlon ih zu, Moab tanuh Ruth doeh ka zu ah oh hanah ka qan boeh; kadueh kami ih hmuen loe angmah ih ahmin hoiah om poe ueloe, anih ih nawkamya thung hoiah maw, a ohhaih khongkha thung hoiah maw ahmin to anghmasak mak ai: vaihniah nangcae loe hnukung ah na oh o boeh, tiah a naa.
11 All the people who were in the gate and the elders said, “We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built up the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be renowned in Bethlehem.
To naah khongkha ah kaom kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih mah, Kaicae loe hnukung ah ka oh o, tiah a thuih o. Angraeng mah na im ah angzo nongpata to Israel imthung takoh padoekung, Rachel hoi Leah baktiah omsak nasoe; nang loe Ephrathah ah khet kamcuk ah omh loe, Bethlehem ah ahmin amthang nasoe.
12 May your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, through the offspring that Yahweh will give you with this young woman.”

13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. He slept with her, and Yahweh allowed her to become pregnant, and she bore a son.
Boaz mah Ruth to lak moe, anih ih zu ah oh; anih loe a zu khaeah caeh moe, Angraeng mah a zu to zokpomsak pongah, ca nongpa maeto a sak.
14 The women said to Naomi, “May Yahweh be blessed, who has not left you today without a near kinsman, this baby. May his name be famous in Israel.
Nongpatanawk mah Naomi khaeah, Nang akrangkung canawk apet ai ah omsakkung, Angraeng ahmin pakoehhaih om nasoe; nawkta ih ahmin loe Israel kaminawk thungah ahmin amthang nasoe.
15 May he be for you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”
Anih loe na hinghaih angthasak let kami, na mitong naah nang khenzawnkung ah om nasoe; capa sarihtonawk pongah doeh, na langah mah nang to ang palung kue, anih mah capa maeto tapen boeh, tiah a naa o.
16 Naomi took the child, laid him in her bosom, and took care of him.
To naah Naomi mah nawkta to tapom moe, a khetzawn.
17 The women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse, who became the father of David.
To ah kaom a imtaeng ih nongpatanawk mah, Naomi mah capa maeto sak, tiah a thuih o pongah, nawkta ih ahmin to Obed, tiah phui o; anih loe Jesse ampa ah oh; Jesse loe David ampa ah oh.
18 Now these were the descendants of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,
Hae loe Perez ih caanawk ah oh, Perez mah Hezron to sak,
19 Hezron became the father of Ram, Ram became the father of Amminadab,
Hezron mah Ram to sak moe, Ram mah Amminadab to sak,
20 Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, Nahshon became the father of Salmon,
Amminadab mah Nahshon to sak moe, Nashon mah Salmon to sak,
21 Salmon became the father of Boaz, Boaz became the father of Obed,
Salmon mah Boaz to sak moe, Boaz mah Obed to sak,
22 Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.
Obed mah Jesse to sak moe, Jesse mah David to sak.
